Update: In the report it is the Elko County Sheriff shown in the cowboy hat, they came out and assisted us in the public search on the NV side, Box Elder did not assist on the public searches on the Utah side, we organized that as a family on our own. On Monday when Justin and I met with Box Elder they read us the press release they were going to release, in the next day or two we were told, that has yet to happen 4 days later.

Rhonda Evans I do not believe they are covering up for anyone. But the case was handled SO WRONG in the beginning there was allot of lost evidence we should have had, that would be hard to swallow and come out in the public and admit.

Rhonda Evans Sorry, I do not mean to answer for Candice. I sent a letter to The Utah Attorney General. I received a nice letter back! They are in Salt Lake City and did not even know of the disappearance of Dylan. To sum it up, they said we need to continue to place our trust in The Box Elder Sheriff's office. I would never trust them. I have never seen a case so blotched from the minute they arrived on the property until now. NOWHERE can I see that protocol was followed! I do not care if it is a missing person or a criminal search, you should treat it as a homicide, because they had no idea what it was at the time! Within a day most of the evidence is gone from any area.

This is so heartbreaking. I just went to Vegas and driving all that desert land made me think of Dylan. I pray daily that we can find him. I can’t imagine the frustration the family feels. He should have been found in the first week!!!!!!!

This investigation was screwed up from the very beginning. By the time the sheriff come out to investigate all the evidence had either been touched or walked on.. Not every county has professional investigators and what they do have make a lot of major mistakes. All I can do is pray for this precious family, all of them. #JusticeForDylan UPDATE:
I don't believe Box Elder County Sheriff Office was successful at regaining the confidence of Dylan's parents during the meeting yesterday.
Sheriff Potter will be releasing a press release in the near future. It will explain their intent to remain LEAD agency in the criminal investigation into the disappearance of Dylan Rounds. This investigation was not handled properly from the beginning so how can the family or the public be confident things will be handled properly going forward?
They state they are waiting on results from the lab and I feel like we need to ask them to put a RUSH on these lab results, so this family can get some answers!
WE NEED TO CONTINUE TO USE OUR VOICES!

Look how many ppl are out there with warrants that LE was well aware of but did nothing about. If those ppl were picked up on their warrants when they should have been, we would not be wondering where Dylan was. He would still be safe farming his land. IMO I don't understand why FBI can't just take over for them or other state officials, such as the governor or mayor. They should be able to make them hand over lead.

We have people from all 50 states, and many foreign countries that know about Dylan's disappearance, but The Utah State's Attorney's office does not??? It is in Salt Lake City??? Why do they not know?? The States Attorney is the CHIEF LAW ENFORCEMENT, LEGAL OFFICER, and LAWYER for UTAH!! Just WOW!

The investigation division only conducts investigations based on protocol and the office does not intervene, take over or redo criminal investigations from local law enforcement. Kelly Lynn Greenwood You see from that letter I sent you the States Attorney's Office wants nothing to do with it. They do not want to step in where a case has been messed up. They are the Lawyers for the people. That is their job. I just had between $85,000 and $100,000.00 stolen out of my rental storage sheds. The case went right to the States Attorney's office. My investigator got a letter back from them in like 18 days telling me what to do about it. It was antiques and antique jewelry I ha d worked for all my life, plus my personal things. Attorney Generals make $104,450 a year, they need to do something. I am sure they do up higher maybe??

Its not there child so they do not give crap, sorry, useless Inconsiderate, crooked PD, trust me they know but are on sitting information so the can cover thier azzes when the time comes. Nothing was handle with a sence of urgency. Evidence is lost. No change of command on Dylans boots as they were in a cop car and cops didn't think it was important enough to get the boots into evidence until a week later so that evidence is now lost and tainted. Cops are busy as a cat shoveling shite covering because that's what they do in these sketchy circumstances. I hope heads will start to roll from top to bottom. The entire PD needs to be investigated Prayers to his parents and loved ones.

Boyd Porter LE has more to do than walk a desert! They should have been in constant contact with Dylan's parents (NO I do not know Dylan but I am a kidnapped survivor) whether they had any news or not (in this situation no news is good news does not fly). They should also know how to handle a crime scene, how to collect evidence, how to keep people away by having a deputy at the scene, put up crime scene paper and on and on. Boyd Porter It is an active investigation until it is ended. There is a suspect in custody. They lost the evidence 3 months ago when they walked off of that property without doing their job! I am afraid my friend that was when it was compromised. I have a right to have my shorts hot. I was kidnapped held hostage, and left in the back of my car, gagged, bound, tied up and covered with duck tape and left to die in the Colorado woods! It was horrible, but my investigators and the sheriff's department knew what they were doing! Media Involvement is awesome, when facts are given out.

Waiting on lab results still!?? 😳 😳... I know it doesn't take 8 weeks to get results. When the dna is magnified in sequencing it takes about 1 week. (here in Uk anyway) maybe its different there but still surely doesn't take more than 6 weeks, thats ridiculous. Really hoping the results get back soon. 🙏

Cathy Logan that is Adventures with a Purpose and they take on cases that involve a missing person and a vehicle once law enforcement has been unable to locate them. That is not the circumstances for Dylan. His vehicle is not missing.

Cathy Logan They are experienced underwater dive teams that have a good record of finding bodies in vehicles where other agencies were unable or unwilling to do it. I recently asked Candice about possibly asking them but there are no bodies of water nearby and Dylan's vehicles are accounted for so they wouldn't be able to offer assistance unfortunately.

This is devastating news. They won’t turn it over because they have been negligent, lied, leaked information that was to be kept quiet, treated this poor family like garbage, never interviewed people that should have been, told different stories to Candace and Justin, showed lack of respect to them and definitely laid in the weeds instead of doing their job. My heart is breaking. Three months of anguish for Dylan’s family while LE does nothing. Lab reports should not take this long…. Or did they not send them in a timely manner just like Dylan’s boots?? I’m praying that there is a breakthrough, that someone comes forward, do the right thing, give this family the help they need and most of all, BRING DYLAN HOME!

Box Elder was too busy with the sheriff reelection for Potter to look into Dylan. That seemed to be their focal point through the whole month of June. If he was up for election and this case tossed into his lap right in the middle of the elections, that could have hindered his re-election. So I feel they brushed it aside so Potter can keep his seat. Instead of sending officers out to investigate, they were too busy with parades.

Dylan has been missing for 3 months. There is no way that it has taken this long for ANYTHING to go to the lab. ANY item of importance could have been driven or flown to the lab. This is just another of their mess ups with not getting things there when it should have been for some reason. My items were back from the lab, I remember they had to cut a piece of my hair, it was driven to the lab and the results were back in 2 or 3 days. Maybe because it is not a court case, but with one suspect, how much evidence could there be?? Maybe there are more? 3 months worth??

Why can’t they just let it go and do what is right for the family and get outside help. Turn it over, unless they want control over it to cover something up or hide their mistakes, there should be no reasonnto keep ahold of it. I want to talk with you, but first let me preface my
comments with this Op-Ed piece from the Elko Daily:

Being a Criminal in Elko County pays

Being a burglar in Elko county is a high paying job with little or no personal risk.
Ya, there might be a risk of having a landowner/homeowner shoot you, but being caught by law enforcement does not appear to be a risk at all.

Recently some of my family members had their shop broken into and during the burglary a vehicle was set on fire and a pistol was stolen along with a side by side, a 4-wheeler, and countless tools.

They called the Sheriff's department and requested an officer to come out and take a statement, begin an investigation, and follow up with attempting to catch the criminals. We were all assuming that meant getting fingerprints, doing an arson investigation, investigate possible suspects, and protect the victim. They collected a statement, nothing else.

The suspects are known to the officers/detectives, yet they have done nothing to interview, question or obtain search warrants for their residence. The way these type of cases work from the Sheriff's office point of view is "We will have to wait until we catch them redhanded". That is a scary proposition. What if next time they accomplish their goal and burn the entire house down with victims inside?

Crime is on the rise, drug activity is on the rise, victims are on the rise in large numbers across Elko County, and from where I sit, not much is being done to get these criminals off the street. All the while the victim sits alone and scarred waiting for something to happen. They have now armed themselves to protect their pursuit of life, liberty and happiness while the criminal walks free without fear of being held accountable.

I get up every day to go to work to earn a paycheck, medical benefits for me and my kids, and pay taxes for a sense of security and community. Maybe it's time to quit my job, get on government subsistence, get free health care and take what I want when I want it. Then maybe I will have the freedom that the criminals in this county get handed to them.
