Montello is an exceptional tiny town where folks (almost all 300 of us) truely appreciate life's simple pleasures. Here are some fine examples:
Skydiving without authorized airspace clearance.
Graveyard wrestling Gothic Bird Watching
And "Rehab School" Homecomings!

The 4th of July Main Dirt Road Parade is a time-honored tradition. NO ONE ever suspected that I would show up, take center stage and First Prize in the category of "The Loudest & Most Expensive Float"

Out-of-town Visitors in-town come to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of a bunch rusted junk on the walls (Museum?), cheap cold beer, lots of it; Pot Luck...... the glass-shattering/heart-stopping droning of the Karyoke Kowboys...and the hilarious comedy of Freight Train Bloopers!!!!

It's no surprise, that after a long day of lounging in this Historic Semi-Retirement Community, the residents....young or old...and OLDER need to relax, call it "Another Day In Paradise" and get out for a breath of fresh air. IT MAY BE THEIR LAST.

Bedtime for most folks comes early in Mormon Country. I will never understand why that happens in this Cracker JackMormon feedbag trading post-consumer town that refuses to die. They're all faking it, man! Truth is, there just IS NOT a lot going on in the way of "Living it up" around here. (Yer only as retired as far as yer money will take ya)

Heck: Half the town does something, anything & says they're "working". And then here comes the half-other Jokers workin' hot&heavy all day & they say they're not doing anything. And more often than not...ALL of them spend 2 day's wages on one day's drinkin', gamblin' and paying me back at 10%.

That's just a bit part of the "Montello Way". It never stops. (why bother?-- damage is done/nobody's cryin') I don't know how they do it. It may have something to do with a slogan: "MISFITS, FITTING IN" Doesn't really matter what size shape or haircolor. (except our VFD Captain) T-town is 104 & change YEARS OLD. There's Wizdom in this dust in the air. My visit here is nearing 4. I'm the new kid in town. This wacky little roadside tourist distraction called Montello, Nevada.

(I mean, come on! It rhymes with my name--HOW COOL IS THAT?)

This town, & I suppose any town... ain't much unless ya give it something..

[....like a reason to exist; a Charter for the Common Good; a way to make an honest buck; a place to go with stuff to buy; A Crib, a Ride; a place to have Fun, or, a space to....HIDE]

I know I've given it a fair & adequate piece of my Heart......... cuz definantly my Head is the Higher-Priced item here & I ain't gonna be cheated again, ya understand? I'm here cuz I'm [independantly wealthy and my money is] welcome, and California sure don't want me anymore. (There's many here who are Cali Refugees just like me. We talked about starting a Gang, but everytime we got together, we'd end up drinkin' beer, singin' songs and shootin' pool. [A-buncha] "Tello's in da 'Hood"....lofreekingL!) Most of us (yes, especially YOU) over-paid our dues in life & now the dividends are beginning to roll in, right here, in Montello...where I call it home.......of............ Thee BIGGEST Drum Set in Nevada!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE:

When we departed Montello last Sunday, I handed the keys (from Troy) to
a trusted local person to take over my Shop...to make it a viable Store again.

Now, this un-named person has just now called me to report back.

Their truck caught fire on the hiway, destroying everything.

Then there's the report that the Ty and Phyllis Corbin Ranch has been ransacked.
(That's where we stayed 3 days.)

Add that to the shite at my house...and we have a
CONSPIRACY!
