is it the 1800 powersellers number ??

there are two call centres ........... one in Utah and one in Manila

the guys in Utah are fantastic ........ friendly, knowledgeable and genuinely interested ....... I have found them to be a great help .... on call 7 days a week

sadly the same can not be said for the one in Manila ............... nasal speaking robots that can't grasp even the simplest problem .. they are obviously reading straight out of a manual (probably called eBay for Retards)

trouble is you don't know which call centre you're going to get when you ring .... seeing it's a free call if a robot answers I hang up and try again

BNWT its a local 1 800 number which is purportedly actually here in oz (and actually lists a local 02 etc number as backup if calling from overseas) and has defined aussie type business hours to 9 pm or so , i am not a powerseller, so on the surface it seems to be a local aussie thing they have set up, as to the exclusivity thing, its weird one of my ebay accounts got the message the other didnt but both accounts seem to be able to access this phone number in help, maybe others can test if its showing whe they go to "help".

I am seeing in the books section a lot of auctions (i.e. 90 odd %) passing in without bids and some very good value as well, I wonder if this is a sign at least parts of their business is dying off fast and they are trying to give the perception that they are giving better support? its hard to see how many sellers actually hang on selling so little with the fees

yes ............ the aussie powersellers help desk runs on australian time and is set at our office hours

the paypal 1800 number also has an 02 access but it diverts to the US

I can't imagine eBay spending money to set up an aussie call centre

in fact now that I think about it recently I had a particularly troublesome customer, the guy in Utah suggested I get them to call the 1800 number when I said "but these people aren't powersellers" to which he replied "we take calls from anybody"

I might add he sorted them out and resolved the situation without any bloodshed

It’s called “spin” and it comes straight from the various Departments of Spin, large and small; every corporation has one, working overtime these days, eBay’s in particular. It does not seem to matter that their statements are usually so self-serving and very often nonsensical; all that matters is that they keep regurgitating the same nonsense and then the majority of people will, apparently, assume that what they say is so. It pays to be a cynic and accept absolutely nothing put out by the likes of “for profit” corporations without first critically appraising same. Indeed, in eBay’s case, you simply take the reverse what they say to get the most probable truth of what they have said.
“Today we’re dealing with phase two or phase three [he can’t even remember which one] of disruptive innovation. We’ve had the disruption, now we must disrupt our own disruption.”—John Donahoe (2007).

eBay's Turnaround is in Jeopardy - What Now?

What happens when your turnaround takes an about-face? eBay CEO John Donahoe may find out the answer to that question if he isn’t careful.

Tough Competition May Dampen eBay Earnings Despite Healthy Holiday

In an ominous development for eBay, only 13% of people described the company as "the best e-commerce shopping experience," down from 27% in March of 2009, in a poll released by Piper Jaffray last week. By contrast, Amazon was named "the best" by some 65% of respondents, up from 35% over the same period.

Seller's Choice Marketplace Ratings: eBay
http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abu/y210/m01/abu0255/s09

Beautiful; says it all; eBay placed 13th; a shame that nobody at eBay reads such research ...

Highlights of Amazon's Q4 Blow Out
http://seekingalpha.com/article/185375-highlights-of-amazon-s-q4-blow-out?source=email

Oh, dear me, what have all the eBay/Donahoe supporters got to say now?

How does Amazon do it? They have no idiots like “Turkey” Donahoe handicapping them, that how!

I notice that an eBay director has also been dumping eBay shares. She must know something we don’t know, or maybe she saw Amazon’s results and now realizes that eBay, with “Noise” Donahoe at the helm, is indeed “dead man walking”.

The full sad, ugly, gory details of Donahoe’s criminality at
