Thanks, you shouldn't have …

A spokeswoman for eBay, Sian Gipslis, said: ''If it's just going to sit in your house, you should consider selling it.''

eBay Feedback DSRs Unfair to High Volume Powersellers

The Author of this article is 100% incorrect with his figures... he/she  has the mathamatical brain of a gnat !!!
so people really should check their facts before making statements like this on a public forum .... the worse thing is that some other people read them and assume they are true !

"I have spoken to several eBay representatives about this and every single one of them can't understand the simple math behind it."
Well of course thay cant understand it ... your figures are wrong !!!

Ebay wrote to the Ministers ??  Amazing !

***Australia Post industrial dispute update: strike on 22 December***

21 December 2009 | 11:42AM EST

The Communication, Electrical and Plumbing Union (CEPU) has announced they will go on strike from tomorrow, Tuesday 22 December. Australia Post has announced that they anticipate 75% of their workforce will not strike and they have put in place contingencies to minimise disruptions.

Given the importance of postal services to both buyers and sellers during the busy Christmas shopping season eBay recommends that buyers and sellers take the following actions:

Buyers

   1. Pay the seller promptly after making your purchase. This will help sellers dispatch faster
   2. Consider using couriers or alternate delivery options if offered by sellers
   3. Communicate with your seller and take into account potential delays beyond their control.
   4. Consider carefully any Feedback or Detailed Seller Ratings you leave on receiving the item.

Sellers

   1. Post any sold items promptly to avoid disappointing buyers hoping to receive their purchases prior to Christmas
   2. Communicate with your buyers. Let them know
          * as soon as you have sent items
          * that the strike could delay delivery
   3. Consider the 10% discount currently being offered to eBay members by Interparcel for domestic and international courier services. These services will not be impacted by any industrial action

What eBay is doing?
eBay will monitor further developments and liaise with Australia Post to ensure you are informed of any actions that may impact buying or selling, in as timely a manner as possible. Last week eBay sent variations on the following letter to Australia Post and relevant government ministers:

      Dear Minister,

I am writing on behalf of thousands of eBay sellers to express grave concern about the impact of the proposed national strike at Australia Post.

More than 52,700 eBay sellers in Australia currently derive their primary or secondary source of income from selling on eBay.com.au (according to June 2006 ACNielsen research). The majority of our sellers rely heavily on Australia Post for their deliveries and are understandably concerned that any postal strike will cause huge disruption at a time when they can least afford it.

These sellers tell us that Christmas typically accounts for a significant portion of their annual sales and despite the difficult economic conditions, they’re successfully growing their businesses and investing for future growth. Any barrier to them delivering their goods could dent public confidence in a growing and increasingly important part of the economy.

Whilst I understand that the issues are complex and hard to control, in consideration of the many hard-working small businesses who are innocent victims of this dispute, I urge you to encourage both the Australia Post and the Communications Electrical Plumbing Union to reach a negotiated settlement and to bring this dispute to a swift end.

Regards,
The eBay team

“Is PayPal good for your ... business?” A short PayPal horror story
http://blog.apparentsoft.com/business/124/is-paypal-good-for-your-microisv-business-a-short-paypal-horror-story/

The best PayPal horror story I have yet seen; says it all; a must read ...
“Today we’re dealing with phase two or phase three [he can’t even remember which one] of disruptive innovation. We’ve had the disruption, now we must disrupt our own disruption.”—John Donahoe (2007).

Absolutely outrageous......and definitely something that should be taken up with the BFSO and indeed ACCC.   It's just thuggery, and in this case, the business has sustained 'damages'.....oh how I wish someone would grow some backbone and take these pirates on.....it costs nothing to lodge an ACCC and BFSO complaint even Fair Trading would cover this type of unconscionable conduct.....oh and btw? if Paypal were an EFT code signatory, they would never get away with this type of conduct......

Would it be useful to have a Paypal Horror Story thread here so we can post all Paypal stories for all to see and review in one place?.....

btw...happy new year Phil

Oh and incidentally, Paypal will no doubt argue that it is complying with anti money laundering legislation, when in fact, all they have to do is (like banks) use 100pt verification with Aust Post.

Now given the story above, do you think that seller would have been quite happy to attend an Aust Post and prove his identity without having to fax CONFIDENTIAL documents to Paypal for the same purpose, but which were then rejected?  They are a TOTAL farce this mob....run don't walk to the nearest exit.

If any business person is crazy enough to build a business on Ebay, they need their head read......It's like building your house upon the Sand...quick sand.  You have no negotiation power, no say over your business or redress for financial losses imposed by Ebay's bully boy tactics.....why bother?  Their stupidity could totally finish your business in a heart beat with no recourse under an 'Unfair Contract'...crikey, why don't these businesses utilise the TPA and at least fight back?

Hagens Berman Sues eBay's Bill Me Later for Allegedly Violating Consumer Rights

The suit contends that Bill Me Later - which is not a government-regulated financial institution - has entered into a relationship with CIT Bank to create the appearance that the bank is extending credit terms. In fact, Bill Me Later controls the entire transaction.
