PayPal has blocked my cash and my ebay account

PayPal is one of those companies that millions of people use every day without a hitch – but when there is a problem it can soon escalate. The web is awash with tales similar to yours.

eBay de-lists Kevorkian death van, citing policy

(04-26) 17:31 PDT DETROIT (AP) --

Online auction site eBay pulled a listing Monday for a van used by Dr. Jack Kevorkian to perform several assisted suicides, saying the sale of the van would violate the company's policy against the sale of "murderabilia."

eBay's 2010 Seller Release 2 Includes Anonymous Email Addresses

http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y10/m04/i27/s00

They are, of course, "just a venue".

Can I assume now that if I mention my website in an end of auction email to MY buyer that I'll have my selling account suspended again?

Pra, thats a pretty safe bet without doubt, Ebay do not want you advertising lol, everything they do under the "protection or privacy" banner is designed to facilitate their bottom line and nothing else.

But they are just a "venue" right? /sarcasm
They said there would be cake....and there WAS!

I got in a real situation with a buyer, i sold this lovely set of mills and boon books, on the ebay ad for them I put my little protest, words to the effect "ebay say they are just a venue, and yet this set of 13 books offered for starting bid 99 cents, I cannot charge the proper actual postage costs for because ebay have a postage cap" in effect if the books sold for the starting bid of 99 cents (which they did lol) i would lose money because express 3 kg envelopes are $11.30 not $8.30, so I put on the ad that the winning buyer would have to pay $11.30 not $8.30 (i.e. $3.00 more) if they won despite the listing saying $8.30 for postage costs.

Anyway they sold for 99 cents, the buyer paid straight away the 99 cents plus the $8.30 on the ad and expected to receive them for that, a very nice buyer btw not difficult, paid fast etc.

So i email them say did you read the ad etc, and no reply, in the end i refunded the paypal and sent a new invoice which the buyer paid, with the proper postage but a huge drama for both buyer and seller to make a transaction work.

ebay cannot argue it is "just a venue" it is clear it is not, a venue does not tell a seller what to charge for postage NOR force a seller to discount the actual cost of postage.

Good morning Mr T ..... there is no cap on postage ,that is just the flat rate limit , if you use calculated postage it would have over ridden the $8.30

good morning master smee, yes but it is not easy or accurate to use the calculated option, for example, the cheapest way to send the books  which weighed 1.7 kg packed was via express post, ebay are so lazy with their software development it is not easy to specify how you want to post the items.

This buyer was in tasmania, it was more to send regular than express, but in calculated there is no way to show the express post option, why should there be a postage cap on the easiest method of listing the postage costs which is the fixed option? if you go in and try doing a test listing under calculated, express post is not even an option on ebay's list

what i am saying is that i want my listing to show the actual method of posting and calculate it based on that, what is the point of a limit or postage cap on a category? what does it prove or how does it help anyone or stop postage rorting, i was not rorting just wanting to charge the best actual and cheapest method of post, why can i not just use the drop menu in calculated the same as in fixed, i.e. i am sending it express 3 kg, why is that not an option in calculated, the customer deserves to know which way their parcel will arrive and what exactly they are paying for, but express 3kg is not an option under calculated, its a bodge up of the system on ebay

yes it is ....its under get it fast or send it fast or words to that effect

anyhow , I am not here to defend them , yes you are right they do make simple things difficult

I was just merely pointing out that there are ways around the limit issue
and as in all things you must have a system to beat the system

Hi smee, the "get it fast" option has criteria which i do not wish to use and basically therefore does not suit, I think from memory it involves only using paypal as an offered payment option, I have looked at that before and will check again when i am listing later today, "get it fast" does not suit all listings, i didnt think you were defending ebay at all, but i dont want a 'fix up" or innacurate description of the postage I want to offer, basically what i am saying is that to offer the postage option i want to offer in the simplest and fastest way (and in this case the cheapest for my customer) I would in this case have to discount the postage method offered by $3.00 all to lose even more money on an auction, i chose the starting bid of 99 cents and therefore thats the customers win getting them cheaply and I am genuinely pleased for them although in that case it would have been nice if the customer had paid by bank but i dont hold any grudge for them not, but its awfully complex just to try to offer even cheap goods on ebay now and not worth it imo with the postage caps, in my case it discourages me from listing on ebay at all.

smee also, you know yourself, there are a lot of aspects to listing something, shouldn't ebays role be to make it as straight forward as possible and easier as a goal? A postage cap proves ebay are NOT just a venue it blows tat whole argument out of the water just on the postage caps alone. A venue does not tell a seller what to charge for postage, thats my case really anyway lol we are on BNWT's thread, sorry BNWT

Visa Inc. to Acquire CyberSource to Accelerate eCommerce
http://corporate.visa.com/media-center/press-releases/press1010.jsp

This is the Visa Media Release: I love the way PayPal does not even get a mention in this media release. What that ultimately means for PayPal, we can only speculate, but to keep the market informed, could I suggest the following press release for eBay:

It is with very great sorrow that “Dr Death” Donahoe MBA (aka Peter Principle), resident witch doctor at eBay, is expected to announce the probable imminent demise of eBay’s most ugly daughter, PayPal. He is expected to advise the market that it is probable that PayPal is about to be stricken by a particularly virulent strain of Visa + CyberSource, accompanied by financial institutions complications. If so stricken, PayPal may be expected to deteriorate rapidly and, if ultimately not completely incapacitated, will most likely be eventually confined to what little is by then left of the Donahoe-devastated eBay Marketplaces. There is no cure for the condition, and Dr Death will undoubtedly also say that he is particularly saddened by the inevitable presumption that it is unlikely PayPal will be able to continue to underpin eBay’s bottom line into the future.

A detailed examination of and prognosis for the patient at
