I'll keep my eyes open for something that glitters and is 55 cm in length.

4 days, 16 hours... still at £310... but that means nothing. I know it will go up.

Yes, indeedy ... by at least one more bid.  But the question is - what is the leading bidder's bid?

(assuming we can ambush any other bidding.... )

its up to £355 now with just under 10 hours to go .........

I still cant find a decent gold chain , but my clarinet sold

The slope is getting steeper!!

(well, the price is...)

£365.39 with just under 7 1/2 hours to go.

I get the uneasy feeling the race to the finish could get rather heated - I hope I'm wrong for Countessa's sake.

I have absolutely no idea on these things - so a guess it will be.

I don't know if I want to go low - to make the Countess feel better about her chances - or high - to try and pick a possible 'must have' buyer in the audience.....

So I'll have an each-way bet... £465.85 or £742.10

yep its a hard one to pick which way it will go ...its one of those unique type of items though where if you get 2 interested bidders it could sky rocket real quick as there is no real RRP for such items , but its also not everyones cup of tea so finding numbers of interested buyers is the tricky bit , but we know there is one here in Aust plus its already had bidders so the seller has an audience its just a matter of how deep there pockets are and if they are up and about in 7 hours time or have 1 or more engaged a snipe service ????

Okay - here's my sad, sad story.

I had placed a bid, and also placed a definitive (my real maximum) snipe bid.

Then I thought... look, I'll just double-check with the seller that the skiver was original.

The seller replied quite quickly, and unfortunately it seems the skiver is not original, but was part of a professional restoration. The seller was kind enough to suggest that, if this were at all an important factor for me, I could retract my (so far winning) bid.

I was so TORN...! I absolutely loved the look of that writing slope. But I did want an entirely original writing slope, so I did arrange a retraction.

I am now in mourning.  :tissue: :blownose: :hanky: :violin: :'(

At least I have the good fortune to know this is an honest and polite seller; I've saved her to my Favourites list and will look at what she lists. One of these days, the writing slope that is destined to be mine will appear...

Why not get it anyway Tess ? ... who would know it's not an original ? ... it's not like we have Edwardian experts around the place... Put this next to the real thing and I wouldn't know the difference.. If you like it just buy it ... it looks fabulous I think...

Perhaps I have a little bit of the statistician gene showing through.....

Remember: A statistician is someone who, with their head in an oven and their feet in a freezer are - on the average - quite comfortable.

Hmmmm.... That does NOT work for me.  Better call my figures random flukes - even 'educated' guesses would be an overstatement!

Sounds fair, provided it's a double up (2 Mil). I will whack 500 entries in with the winning numbers so if anyone else jags the numbers they only get 1/500th of the first div prize.

I've got it all worked out.

Wanted ....... 18ct or 24ct  gold mens chain .... I dont know maybe 55-60cm in length

I recently sold an 18ct one that had shrunk just like all my shirts have , and got sod all for it in comparison to what these thieving Sebastians that own jewellry shops now want ...sure I expected to get sodomised on the price but these bastodians want a kidney for a 9ct chain weighing 15 grams and trying to find 18ct at any price is near on impossible.... so talk to me ...hussle me ....Ive got at least 15 pennies

Yipee...... I am now the pround owner of some new 18ct gold bling to dangle around my neck

The seller does say he won't post outside the UK, but Oh! Look at this gorgeous, gorgeous, GORGEOUS original skiver!

(Detail: >>

It's also a bit late for my liking - it dates to the 1880s - but such a beautiful patina on the wood...

Another slight drawback: the brahma key is missing.

But the skiver! I utterly love that particular shade of blue, and I am very attracted by coromandel wood...

Oh, the dilemma.

What do you think about this? It's an ANCIENNE MATRICE DE SCEAU MEDIEVAL BRONZE FLEUR LIS LYS (Mediaeval bronze seal featuring a fleur-de-lys).

I'm also thinking about this one: http://cgi.ebay.fr/matrice-de-sceau-medieval-royal-/290572235404?pt=FR_GW_monnaie_pi%C3%A8cesantiques&hash=item43a774728c
(matrice de sceau médiéval, royal) (i.e., mediaeval seal featuring a lovely green patina - legend on the seal not able to be distinguished clearly, though).

I'd have had to if I were the winner - but I didn't bid on it.

Had the seller offered postage to Australia, I actually would have.

I do love that beautiful shade of violet blue.
