Template Creators? Advice pls.
« on: June 16, 2013, 01:57:19 PM »
Looking to upgrade the look of our eBay store with a template using HTML, but have no experience using that to set up a template .
Got in touch with a mob called PowersellersTemplates but after some good comms initially I am now feeling a little unsure.
Has anyone had some experience using any creators of HTML templates, any recommendations or portfolios to view.
They seem relatively cost effective, but just need to choose the right provide to ensure we still get our money's worth on going.

Any advice is appreciated.
Blessed be those who get off their ass and have a go !!

Friar, are you after a store template and listing templates? Have you found any examples of templates that you like? If they've been done by a design company they'll usually have a link to the business name down the bottom. If you find some you like the best thing to do is ring or email the seller and ask whether they'd recommend the designer.

I like professional looking templates without too many flashy wizz bang bells and whistles. Something like this one from Swift Productions.

Their prices seem pretty reasonable too.

Thanks Wheels. The Swift mob seem to have a bit of style.
I will look out for those By Lines at the bottom of the pages.
That is what I am looking for. Its time to upgrade and improve a bit.
Cheers

hi friar

auctiva are not bad and there is another slightly more expensive template provider and you can customise theirs too

i used to use auctiva who have many templates as many sellers did

on a mac you can use isell or iauction cant recall

will do some research later, one group do really nice ones

OR a web designer can make a custom one

if you google 'custom templates for ebay' you may find some good designers to work with

i do know a guy who is quite good and cheap will ring him and see what hes doing when back in sydney

Thank you Mr Magoo.
I was recommended PowersellersTemplates as a cost effective option, but I am now a bit suspicious of how they do business, not comfy anymore.
See what they say Monday.
Will keep looking otherwise but thought I'd ask if anyone I knew on this non-forum forum what they had used.
Cheers

For those who may be interested, I do believe during my research for providers for HTML templates that I stumbled upon what I can only assume is a shonky operator called Powersellertemplates.com.
Sean Marsh provides himself with a nice title and 'look' online, and was very chatty and initially helpful.
It then went from providing a draft, to here's our charges, to here's our bank details (odd account details), to pay half now before we offer a draft, pay be bank deposit only (money gone)....
I said "Whoa up a little, tell me a little more about yourself..." and then it all stopped.
Haven't heard a word from him since. I have emailed him at least three times since.

There's only one reason someone disappears so quickly, aside from some medical or other emergency.
So given its been near a week, he's either still hospitalised, dead, or a shonk.
I guess I may find out in due course.

Hi Friar

Back at my 3 level lol home in the loo we even found a park space for ems

I mentioned some good ebay hosting and template sites one of them is as per below

The info pasted here is old and from the web the seller sourcebook site will let you know more
They are better designed and higher quality than Auctiva, and probably more flexible but I have not used them
I just recall they were better looking by far

The search for a replacement for Auctiva

Well as I sell many, many items in many different niches. I had the inventory to test out the top contenders for Auctiva replacement.

Keeping in mind, I'm not sticking to just free services in my search, the ease of scheduling, one touch image hosting and a central inventory control are very cost saving. Time equals money and these tools save a lot of time not to mention ebay fees for scheduling and hosting.

Auctiva Alternative 1:

First I tried the Seller Sourcebook,

A quick list of their services, shows that they are equal to Auctiva in their offerings, they have a scrolling gallery and they assist you in creating a coordinated brand identity (scrolling gallery, auction template, store, about me).

    500mb Image Hosting:
Ability to post listings directly to eBay.com, eBay.co.uk
    Free Scheduling:
    Free Product Showcase on eBay:
    Template Library:
    Online Listing Generator:
Ability to use with other auction sites:
Use of Coordinating About Me Pages:

I tried their service at $8/month, and was completely satisfied immediately, the interface was easier to understand than Auctiva, they had a scrolling gallery which I have a soft spot for and If I wanted to I could export the code for use at various other auction sites.

You can try the Sellers SourceBook by going to the address below.

Hello there Duckee and Mr Magoo.

No they didn't get anything from me. I do my checks and became cautious when I asked the right questions and got the wrong answers. I backed off fast once that happened.

I am glad you are happy with Le Hermitage, should look almost like you had it.
Thank you for the tips, but I am looking at going with Swift Productions. Their Signature package looks like what we need to raise the bar somewhat and achieve the growth we're seeking.
Swift certainly seem to be on th ball with what they offer. I'll let you know how we go.

So far so good with the Swift implementation.
The new store page is up and running, just the rest of it to happen.
They seem to be somewhat slower than they initially suggested, but as long as it all gets done smoothly to avoid any downtime, then I'm ok with that.

I am happy with the creative side, and design work generally good.
I'll provide another progress report later.

The storefront looks great Friar!

Do you know about the new picture requirements which will be enforced from Feb 2014?
