Has been a member since the 12th July
Must have taken them a month to type all the listings in

unless they have negtiated an excellent deal with Aust Post
it wont take them long to go broke selling books @ $6 with $ 2.99 postage
by the time ebay fees and paypal and post come out
listing fees for books is really cheap but the fvf is higher ,
at least thats how it used to be

I imagine they'd have a good deal with eBay. They've been listing on the US and UK for a while.

Another blow to the small local booksellers.

No pics of the actual book. A definite requirement for me when buying used books.

No combined shipping.

theres no incentive for a decent seller to show any photos wheels because most buyers will not pay a price for a book that allows any profit after all the fees and costs, and too many idiots are undercutting postage and the book prices and have been for too long

i used to do the most detailed ads, highlight and list any flaw, but the model does not work, it takes too long to do and justify listings like that, a few customers are great and like this approach of good detailed ads, but most will look at my ad to then go and buy the same book from the cheaper seller, so why bother?

how can this seller have no feedback with that many books listed and selling since July? that is not believable roughly speaking a nomral seller even in todays market will sell about 2.5% of their stock per month, that means if no feedback something fraudulent is going on and ebay are using this seller as a 'filler' to look good in the market perhaps?

surely they cant have sold nothing or zip/zero since July>?

something is really suspicious about this seller

Magoo they havent been selling since July
That is when thry opened their account
It as taken until now ( a couple of days ago ) to get the lstings done &/ or negotiate rates

So they probably  have sold some but not yet received by buyers

In fact they have sold 1095 since their first sale on 06/08/12

oh ok smee that explains it, thats about what 0.5% of all the books they have on sale, might move up a bit after they have bene running a while

but how are they making any money> ? would seem impossible, especially the postage costs which haver to highly amortised or a loss leader

Like I said earlier , they have no doubt negotiated a rate with Aust Post
possibly and off peak rate or general rate ... Which is often much much slower
than regular mail , which would explain why no feedback yet as snail snail , deformed snail mail
so they will get sodomised with the dsr's ...

snap Pra, I bought a book on Friday night and received an eBay Your item is marked as Posted email at 6am this morning.

It will be interesting to see whether the books are actually coming from overseas or from Sydney as stated in the listings.

Interesting.
My mastercard statement:
20 Aug 2012       PAYPAL *WORLDBOOKSL 35314369001 GBR    8.99
20 Aug 2012       PAYPAL *WORLDBOOKSL 35314369001 GBR    8.99

20 Aug 2012       PAYPAL *WORLDBOOKSL 35314369001 GBR    8.99

At least I haven't been charged an international fee. Not yet anyway.
Looks pretty certain they are based in the UK and not Australia.

No book yet. If it was posted Express from Sydney on Monday it would have arrived by now.

They really should be forced to put the correct location of the item in their listings.

Postage details on the book I purchased:

I wonder what they'll do when the new policy about pics is introduced where sellers cannot use stock photos for used items. Or will they just get away with it?

I take that back. Books are excluded from the new pic guidelines.

Starting this fall:

All listings will be required to have a picture.
Photos must be at least 500 pixels on the longest side of the picture.
Borders around pictures, and text added to pictures, will no longer be allowed. Watermarks for attribution purposes only will continue to be allowed.
When listing a used item, stock photos may no longer be used as the primary item photo for the listing. A catalog image can still be used. However, it can’t be used as the primary photo representing a non-new item for sale. Books, Movies, Music, and Video Game categories will be excluded from this requirement (with the exception of Video Game Consoles which will be required to adhere to this new requirement).
Pictures that do not meet these requirements can’t be uploaded at the time of listing—or upon revise or relist—until the requirements are met.
Visit the new eBay Photo Center for tips on taking pictures that attract buyers and best showcase your item.

From what I've read, there is at least a portion of the stock coming from the UK - not Wahroonga.

So don't hold your breath for too long.

Current listings = 511,626

For location, I have seen the following...

On the gallery list it says:
From United Kingdom with Item location: West Sussex, United Kingdom in the listing
and
Location: Australia with Item location: Wahroonga, New South Wales, Australia in the listing.

Has it always been like this - or have they done some fixing up?

15,265 results found for "Australia Only"

So that means over 97% of their books are from overseas.

Makes me somewhat miffed about their use of the word 'Australia' in the seller ID.......

That has changed Brumby. When I placed an order they were all listed with a location of Australia.

My book as arrived, from the UK.

It's a large soft cover and was posted in a padded bag with no cardboard insert. Luckily the postie left it on the front steps and didn't try to jam it into the letterbox or it would have been ruined. The book is in really good condition.

They have also removed the word Express and changed it to regular post in the postage section.

I wonder if they've taken notice of the complaints from buyers and the feedback or if someone at eBay has tapped them on the shoulder. Much better to remove the misleading info so buyers will expect a longer delivery time when they know the book is located in the UK and not being sent "Express" from Sydney.

Four out of four books arrived; 2 appear to have never been read, the other two acceptable for second hand books.
All were posted from the U.K.
