If you are a seller of low value items and the total (including postage) comes to $12 or less, it is cheaper to operate through a micropayments account on Paypal (though it is for business accounts, apparently).

For item totals over $12 it is dearer so you would need a "normal" account.

Here's the info:

Thanks for that Col.

So they call it a business account?

Col, do you use a micropayment account & is it complicated?

It appears so, Lilly (business account).
I haven't set one up yet but I'm looking to clear some "stuff" out and it would be cheaper to use a micro than normal. I had a quick look the other day and seems to be just like opening a regular account.

Not yet Lilly, what with the computer taking a tizzy and not feeling too well. Hardly done any "real" work this last 2 weeks.

You have to open another (dedicated) Premier account. That account email should be specified on the listings for items that will sell less than $10.

I made the following graph ages ago, and it shows what the fees are:

So you've got to pre-determine the final sale price then.  It's good for some sellers, say packets of seeds, things like that, but it goes back into the too hard basket for me. I might start an aucton at $5.00 but can't  pre-guess what the final selling price would be.
