Left-wing writer mocks turning to God in response to Uvalde massacre with 'faith that allowed brutal enslavement to be the law of the land'

June 01, 2022

An opinion columnist for the Los Angeles Times penned a Wednesday piece mocking the act of turning to God following the massacre in Uvalde, Texas, with the "kind of faith that allowed brutal enslavement to be the law of the land."

What are the details?
LZ Granderson begins his Times op-ed by lambasting "so-called religious conservatives" who "like to explain away national tragedies — be they natural or man-made — through the lens of God’s wrath, or at least indirect punishment for 'sins.'"

After picking on the likes of Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and evangelical pastor John Hagee, Granderson writes that "they clearly have a period in mind in which they believe God was happier with the direction of the country, but our history makes it impossible to pinpoint a date without looking racist. So they tend to talk in nostalgic Judeo-Christian generalities."

He then invokes the aftermath of last week's mass killing in Uvalde, particularly the funerals for elementary school students beginning to take place — and adds that at these services "we’re going to be hearing a lot more of these generalities."

"With each passing day, it is clear that conservatives want to move the national conversation surrounding these mass shootings away from gun access and toward God," Granderson writes in his Times op-ed.

Specifically, he says conservative Christians like Hagee, Santorum, and Gingrich believe evil is to blame for massacres like Uvalde rather than guns: "The adherents of this thinking say after any horror: We have to fight evil."

"My question is how a nation that romanticizes, even monetizes, its own evil beginnings can even start to fight the kind of evil some of these politicos speak of," Granderson continues in his Times op-ed. "This is the country that turned Christopher Columbus from being lost at sea into a folk hero who 'discovered' a land full of people. We are the ones who rebranded slave labor camps as plantations."

He also suggests there's a "desire to see ourselves as good people," which is "much more pleasant for us than acknowledging we were never as holy as we like to tell ourselves."

Granderson then declares in his Times op-ed that "we don’t need to return the kind of faith that allowed brutal enslavement to be the law of the land for centuries. We don’t need to return to the kind of faith that allowed Jim Crow laws to follow."

After quoting Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick — "You just cannot change character without changing a heart, and you can’t do that without turning to God" — Granderson writes that he'd ask Patrick, "When exactly did a nation built on stolen land, kidnapping, and enslavement turn away from God?"

He concludes his Times op-ed by saying "many of us don’t wonder how this evil came in. We wonder why people ... won’t admit it’s been here since the beginning."

No pride for some of us without liberation for
all of us.

Marsha P. Johnson

Marsha P. Johnson (1945-1992) was a trans woman, drag artist, and influential activist during the early LGBTQ+ rights movement. Johnson was a central figure of the pivotal Stonewall Uprising in New York City, where in the early morning of June 28, 1969, she pushed back against the NYPD’s brutality against her community. The following year, she joined the Gay Liberation Front and founded the Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries, one of the first transgender rights groups in the U.S. Today, more than 50 years later, Johnson’s words remind us that Pride Month is more than just parties and parades — it remains a fight for equality for every member of the LGBTQ+ community. As Johnson always said, there can be no pride for anyone when people are still fighting for the freedom to be themselves. Shut up smee.

One Man’s Case Shows Why the Looting Isn’t Going To Stop Any Time Soon
Serial looter committed serious crimes,
never spent a day in prison

Shades of Elko County, Nevada

Two George Soros-backed prosecutors in suburban Washington, D.C., bounced a serial looter who committed multiple grand larcenies and assaulted a cop between their offices for years without a felony conviction.

Fairfax County commonwealth's attorney Steve Descano (D.) and Arlington County commonwealth's attorney Parisa Dehghani-Tafti (D.) since 2020 dismissed or declined to prosecute a 25-year-old Maryland resident for nearly a dozen charges related to larceny. The looting incidents amounted to thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise and include felony offenses, including two grand larcenies and one assault on a police officer, making the offender eligible for years behind bars. The prosecutors found the looter guilty of just a few misdemeanors. No verdict levied more than a few hundred dollars in fines, and he served no time in prison.

The out-of-state offender, Ronald Thomas, spent virtually no time in jail after his arrests thanks to bail reform policies instituted by Descano and Dehghani-Tafti. At least five times he was charged for committing crimes in one jurisdiction while on pretrial release in another. He was twice charged for committing larcenies within a day of having similar larceny charges dropped—with one of those incidents happening in the same county.

The case exemplifies the degree to which lightened sentencing can embolden repeat offenders. Studies have shown that releasing defendants before their trial increases crime. A few years after Cook County, Ill., instituted bail reform, a 2020 study by the University of Utah found a 45 percent increase in the number of released defendants who were charged with committing new crimes and a 33 percent bump in released defendants charged with violent crimes.

"When you lower the likelihood of pretrial detention through bail reform, you increase the number of pretrial defendants who are going to be out on the street," Rafael Mangual, a senior fellow and head of research for policing and public safety at the Manhattan Institute, told the Washington Free Beacon. "There's going to be an increase in crime."

Those subsequent crimes also tend to be more violent. "You always hear about the nonviolent drug offender or the nonviolent property crime," Mangual said. "The reality is that there's actually a lot of overlap between who commits violent offenses and who commits lower-level misdemeanors."

Thomas is no exception. In between when his Virginia cases were opened and dropped, he was charged with theft, robbery, and assault in neighboring Maryland.

Democratic megadonor George Soros donated more than half-a-million dollars to Descano's and Dehghani-Tafti's 2019 campaigns, helping them oust veteran prosecutors who had served a combined 60 years in their counties. Both ran on a progressive criminal justice platform, promising to end cash bail in most cases and reduce incarceration. They've kept those promises and pointed to a general crime decrease as proof of their platform's success. Their critics have countered that fewer convictions can mask the true crime rate.

"You can't claim crime has decreased when you've also bragged about not prosecuting over 20 types of crimes," Virginia attorney general Jason Miyares (R.) told the Washington Free Beacon. "The crime hasn't gone away—only the prosecution and the media cover-up."

Miyares also told the Free Beacon the Virginia prosecutors' pattern of light prosecution will lead to more victims.

"Just because a crime is ‘nonviolent' does not mean there was no victim or that no innocent life has been affected," Miyares said. "These far-left prosecutors repeatedly dropped charges against a serial larcenist and allowed him to commit more crimes and victimize more Virginians because they prioritize ideology instead of public safety."

Descano and Dehghani-Tafti did not respond to a request for comment.

In the past few years, states such as New York and New Jersey have passed laws allowing for pretrial release in most cases. Cities including Philadelphia and San Francisco have followed suit. San Francisco district attorney Chesa Boudin (D.) abolished cash bail in 2020 and has opposed many felony convictions, including for drug-dealing charges, robberies, and larceny. The liberal prosecutor is now facing a recall effort amid a spike in homicides, violent shootings, overdoses, and retail theft.

Thomas carried out his larceny spree as attitudes toward looting shifted since the summer of 2020. Politicians, activists, and writers on the left defended the practice during riots around race that summer in America's cities. In one notable example, NPR interviewed the writer Vicky Osterweil, whose 2019 book In Defense of Looting argued the practice was a "joyous and liberatory" response to the injustices of a "cisheteropatriarchal racial capitalist society." Reports showed many looters came from out of state to participate and often escaped without charges—an outcome underwritten by progressive bail laws and lightened sentencing guidelines.

Virginia changed its law for larceny sentencing in July 2020 under former Democratic governor Ralph Northam, doubling the felony threshold from $500 to $1,000. Liberal criminal justice reform groups such as Justice Forward Virginia and the Virginia ACLU had long advocated for the move. Justice Forward in 2021 also backed ending third-strike felonies for petit larceny, noting the "disparate racial and economic impacts that such legislation creates among people of color and the poor."

Even given the raised sentencing threshold in Virginia, one of the grand larcenies Thomas allegedly committed in Fairfax totaled $4,000—more than four times the new felony threshold. Former members of the Fairfax County commonwealth's attorneys' office who spoke with the Free Beacon said choosing not to prosecute felony grand larcenies is rare.

Arlington County has yet to publish its 2021 annual crime report. In 2020, property destruction, auto theft, robbery, and assault all rose in the county. Fairfax County in 2021 saw an uptick in violent crimes, including a 40 percent increase in homicide.

The Free Beacon reported in March how Descano's office in 2021 dropped felony charges on a man arrested for attempting to abduct and defile a hotel housekeeper. One year later, the man was arrested again after he allegedly killed two homeless men and wounded three others during a nine-day shooting spree in D.C. and New York City.

Those who oppose Descano, Dehghani-Tafti, and Loudoun County commonwealth's attorney Buta Biberaj, another Soros-backed prosecutor, launched efforts to recall the trio in 2022. The groups, Stand Up Virginia and Virginians for Safe Communities, say they are motivated by the dangers liberal prosecutors pose to public safety.

"Yet another career criminal victimizes the community with total impunity because a radical prosecutor-activist handed him a ‘get out of jail free' card," said Virginians for Safe Communities president Sean Kennedy. "This case is not the exception any longer, it's the rule."

Thomas was extradited to Montgomery County, Md., on May 24, according to the Fairfax County Detention Center. He is set to stand trial in June on charges of second-degree assault, theft, and robbery, as well as in July on charges of theft valued at more than $1,500. He was charged in Prince George's County, Md., in 2020 for theft, only to have those charges dropped a year later.

What to Do If You Miss Your Flight

:plane:
Airports can be magical, liminal spaces where every visitor is on uneven ground between where they came from and where they’re heading. But for many, seeing airports in a positive light is like asking a toddler to please practice meditation on an international flight: it’s just not going to happen. Airports are loud, crowded, stressful, and often confusing, and though people may be falling in love in the air, it’s hard to imagine forming lifetime bonds while running between gates, trying to make a flight.

In these moments, when you’re hauling your suitcase through security across miles of airport, towards plane doors that may already be closed, airports may feel like pure evil. Many of us have shredded tickets and struggled to breathe normally in the moments after the final boarding call has sounded. If — and when — you miss your flight, here’s what you need to know.

5 Things You Should Never Buy
at the Airport

As travelers, we have to spend a considerable amount of down time in airports. This can often tempt us to make unnecessary and even unwanted purchases. The temptation is becoming stronger by the day as modern terminals continue to increase and improve their drinking, dining, and retail options. Fair pricing is scarce and stores knowingly take advantage of travelers with huge markups on everything from parking to vending machine drinks. Flying is expensive enough as it is, so here are five things that you should never buy at the airport if you want to save some cash.

Report: Despite Attempts To Add More Genders, There Still Seem To Be Just 2 Plus
767 Mental Disorders

June 1st, 2022

U.S.—Despite decades of research attempting to add additional genders, scientists have finally admitted there are still only two genders plus a growing list of 767 mental disorders.

"Yup, looks like it's still just 'male' and 'female,'" said research scientist Dr. Viggs Vinstone, looking up from his microscope in frustration. "As it turns out, the rest of the genders were really just a collection of mental illnesses and quirky personality traits we accidentally misclassified as genders. Sorry—our mistake!"

Researchers confirmed that the growing list of exciting new genders that include classifications such as "non-binary," "demon," and "cake" aren't really genders at all, but instead a snowballing collection of bizarre personality disorders that continues to grow by the minute as the human race loses touch with reality.

"Wow, this looks pretty bad! How did we miss that?" said Dr. Vinstone. "Maybe we should start helping all these poor confused people!"

Findings also suggested that the vast majority of the 767 mental illnesses can be cured by simply telling people "Science has found there are only two genders." Medical professionals are already modifying their treatment plans accordingly.

UPDATE: At publishing time, scientists confirmed the list has grown from 767 to 829 mental illnesses.

UPDATE: It's now at 932.

UPDATE: 1,326.

High school punishes seniors not vaccinated against COVID-19 by banning them from attending graduation ceremony

June 02, 2022

A California high school punished senior students who are not vaccinated against COVID-19 by banning them from walking in their graduation ceremony.

What are the details?
Granada Hills Charter High School is holding its graduation ceremony on Thursday. Unfortunately for 70 students in the graduating class of about 1,100 seniors, they will not walk with their classmates because they are not vaccinated against COVID-19.

Last fall, Granada Hills Charter announced a COVID-19 vaccine mandate for students and staff, following the lead of the Los Angeles Unified School District. But while LAUSD has repeatedly delayed enforcing its mandate (now July 2023 at the earliest), Granada Hills Charter officials chose to enforce theirs.

Since the beginning of the spring semester, students not vaccinated against COVID-19 have been barred from attending class on campus, and seniors have been blocked from senior prom, senior awards day, and other school events.

Finally, they are being blocked from attending graduation in person — even though the ceremony is being held outside, according to the school's website. Guests will also be forced to prove vaccination.

"I feel like I've earned these events, like Grad Night, prom," senior student Andrew Luna told the Los Angeles Daily News. "I did all four years at this school. For them to take [these events] from me at my final moment, of course it's upsetting."

Students banned from attending the graduation ceremony will be able to "participate" remotely, the Daily News reported.

What is the school saying?
A protest was held outside Granada Hills Charter High School on Tuesday, where parents expressed anger over the "egregious discrimination" of the school's policy, KTLA-TV reported.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxp_xTCN-k4

Unfortunately, school officials are defending their policy, claiming in a statement that it is "in the best interest of our students, all of whom attend voluntarily as GHC is a school of choice."

"Our community asked for and has overwhelmingly supported our student vaccine policy, as demonstrated by our 99% vaccination rate amongst those who are eligible to be vaccinated," the statement added. "Our Board stands by the science that indicates that vaccination is the most and effective tool available to minimize the spread of COVID-19 and ensure the safest learning environment possible."

Shockingly, the school even prohibited special education students from walking in the graduation ceremony.

Here’s another story you won’t read in our trusted legacy media.

A new study from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has found that the narrative long being pushed about “long COVID” is completely bogus.

Censorship just got worse . . .

Thu, Jun 2, 2022

Joe Biden is concerned he will be the big loser in the midterm elections if he does not do something drastic—and fast. The Biden administration has doled out 1 billion dollars to media to promote the narrative that the COVID shots are safe and effective, and those same media are being paid to censor dissenting voices. Another 500 million was spent on the COVID shot PR.

Biden’s shot mandates and rising gas prices are not sitting well with most Americans. And as more information comes to light about ballot harvesting and invalid ballots, Biden wants to silence not only communication about COVID and the shot mandates but also about elections and much more.

Shortly after Barack Obama delivered a message at Stanford University on April 21, in which he said government should do more to censor social media to “save the democracy,” Obama’s wish became Biden’s command.

Biden then rolled out his new “Disinformation Governance Board” that operates under the auspices of the Department of Homeland Security—the agency purportedly invented to protect America from terrorists. And their new target is not crazed jihadis, but everyday Americans.

Only dictators aim to silence political opposition. There is growing bipartisan opposition to the Disinformation Board. Send urgent faxes to Congress to demand an end to government censorship. We need to overwhelm Congress with your faxes to stop the DHS Disinformation Board immediately. — Mat

STOP BIDEN’S “MINISTRY OF (UN)TRUTH”!
https://lc.org/lcemail/elc2205faxdgb?t=ELC2205-FaxDGB&c=ELC2205-FaxDGB

When President George W. Bush introduced the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in 2002, Americans were told the new agency would protect them from the jihadi warfare that attacked America just months before.

Fast-forward 20 years, and now this agency that was designed to protect us is being used by the Biden administration to silence us.

On April 27, 2022, the Biden administration announced the creation of a new DHS function—monitoring and correcting Americans’ speech.

Tell Congress: We the People retain the right to FREE SPEECH!
https://lc.org/lcemail/elc2205faxdgb?t=ELC2205-FaxDGB&c=ELC2205-FaxDGB

Biden’s first pick to lead the Disinformation Governance Board was a hard leftist by the name of Nina Jankowicz. Her testimony before Congress in 2018 provides solid insight as to the administration’s plans that even Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) likened to the “Ministry of Truth” in George Orwell’s dystopian novel 1984.

In her testimony, Jankowicz told legislators that because social media companies have “nearly ubiquitous access to Americans’ lives,” those companies should “focus on practices that encourage behavior change.”

Jankowicz praised one organization that had trained 15,000 people in “critical thinking, source evaluation, and emotional manipulation.” The training had successfully reprogrammed 29% of participants to rely on government-controlled “fact-checkers” (aka government censors) before sharing any news.

Jankowicz also wanted the U.S. Department of Education to use behavior manipulation techniques honed by intelligence agencies to manipulate the behavior of children in public schools! She hoped this brainwashing would last “for generations to come.”

Massive public outcry forced Jankowicz to resign within weeks of leading Biden’s propaganda and censorship machine. But the fact that this is who he chose to launch his new Disinformation Governance Board shows exactly how Biden intends to use this new agency to silence you and me—while brainwashing our kids.

STOP BIDEN’S MINISTRY OF TRUTH!
https://lc.org/lcemail/elc2205faxdgb?t=ELC2205-FaxDGB&c=ELC2205-FaxDGB

Jankowicz’s resignation did not end this Disinformation Board. In fact, it made it worse and further tipped Biden’s tyrannical hand.

Washington insider Michael Chertoff was quietly installed in Jankowicz’s place. As co-author of the Patriot Act legislation, Chertoff knows a thing or two about destroying civil liberties.

In 2001, the Patriot Act was passed “for our own good” to “protect Americans” in the wake of 9/11. The Patriot Act includes provisions that allowed the U.S. government to hold persons in prison without charges, without an attorney and indefinitely, so long as the person in question was “suspected” of being a terrorist or having terrorist associations.

Many warned this legislation would one day be used to rob Americans of their rights. Proponents defended Chertoff’s legislation, insisting such claims were wild disinformation. Liberty was traded for false security; it would just take a while for the effects to be evident.

Exactly 20 years after the Patriot Act passed, scores of peace-loving Americans have been sitting in a D.C. jail on what is now known as “Patriot Row”—where grandmothers and others are being held without trial and on suspicion alone.

And now the man who wrote the Constitution-defying “indefinite detention” provisions into law has been put in charge of YOUR news, YOUR information and YOUR speech.

America IS NOT a dystopian society controlled by tyrannical maniacs—at least not yet. But I am concerned that we are close, and it will soon be so if we do not DEMAND our elected leaders in Congress do what we pay them to do—DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION and OUR RIGHTS!

Please, fax Congress now! Demand they END JOE BIDEN’S MINISTRY OF UN-TRUTH!

A bill has been announced in the U.S. House that will strip all funding from the Disinformation Governance Board. Free speech should never be threatened by a government deciding what you can hear, say or write.

We are working with members of Congress to push back, but they also need to hear from you. You can also partner with us through our Challenge Grant that will DOUBLE your gift’s impact. Also, consider making a recurring monthly donation.

Public Rejects COVID-19 Vaccine and Forcing Pharmaceutical
Companies to Throw Them Out

The COVID-19 vaccine has been around for several years. It has been pushed by the Democratic Party so much that those that have not been vaccinated have come to believe it is a political tool being used to control people.

But now that the virus has disappeared from its initial potency, people are moving well past the moment and looking forward to returning to a normal lifestyle. The virus made its presence known and has joined the ranks of the other viral infections unleashed in the world in several decades.

The liberals used the virus for political posturing. They saw it as an opportunity to seize power and take control over the personal lives of American citizens.

They pushed the vaccine so much and even tried to force it on people that the courts had to get involved in sorting out the mess Joe Biden was creating. The concept of wearing a mask was an entire issue altogether.

But the reality of the pandemic is that it has become a thing of the past that people would love to forget. Masks have become a memory, and the COVID-19 vaccine is not far behind.

Developers of the vaccine made a fortune on the push that Joe Biden made. But the truth is that the market has dried up, and now the developers are left with millions of doses of the vaccine. And they do not know what needs to be done with them all.

Stephane Bancel is the CEO of Moderna. He came out and stated that “it’s sad to say, I’m in the process of throwing 30 million doses in the garbage because nobody wants them. We have a big demand problem.”

People worldwide have come to realize that vaccine that was initially created is not going to work on any new variants that may come up during the sick season.

Bancel spoke at the World Economic Forum on the matter, hoping that other nations would seek how they could get the doses. He complained that “We right now have governments – we tried to contact … through the embassies in Washington. Every country and nobody wants to take them. The issue in many countries is that people don’t want vaccines.”

He may have appeared to care about giving away the unused doses, but in the end, he was more concerned with the financial end. He hoped that another nation would offer to buy the vaccine from his company.

The worried man also tried to state that the World Health Organization still promotes that the virus is still a threat. He hoped that he could scare people to line up and take the vaccine from his company. But what they are not saying about the unwanted doses is that those who do not want the shot are already immune.

Bancel’s message of doom fell on deaf ears because the liberals around the world punished people to the brink of destruction, trying to gain control over their lives. People are so sick and tired of hearing about COVID-19 that it makes the sick to even think about returning to that way of life again.

Bancel hoped that the fear of another COVID-19 wave would have prompted someone to come forward to take the doses off his hands. He failed to mention that any new variants are immune to the older vaccine he was trying to peddle for a fee.

The global pandemic must come to an end. The Democrats and liberals need to keep pushing the virus so the sale of the vaccine will continue. But with the end of the pandemic comes the loss of income that the significant developers will suffer.

But the truth is that Moderna will have to toss out their surplus and take a loss on the unused shots sitting on their shelves. The world has moved on from the pandemic. And nothing that a vaccine developer can say will ever convince a person to return to the struggles that the COVID-19 virus created for people everywhere.

Pride Month: Not All Rainbows and Unicorns
Especially when the “rights” of the LBGTQ+
infringe on the rights of others.

JUNE 2, 2022

You know it’s Pride Month when almost every store you enter, show you watch, or event you attend is plastered with token virtue signals. Rainbows and pride flags abound. Heck, NASCAR apologized for offending the Rainbow Mafia and the Marine Corps even added rainbow bullets for a promo pic.

President Joe Biden has affirmed that June is “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex Pride Month.” He is following the tradition of two Democrat presidents before him, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, but adding “queer” and “intersex” to show how much more inclusive and progressive his administration is. This is also a political necessity because sexual identities have become an ever-expanding category.

As is often pointed out, the rainbow community has a myriad of liturgical holidays that are already on the calendar, such as “Transgender Day of Visibility” (March 31), “National Coming Out Day” (October 11), and another month dedicated to LGBTQ+ history (October). There always seems to be a reason for these folks to draw attention to themselves. This is seen in every political debate as well. But as Bill Maher, a lifelong Democrat, famously stated in a recent segment on his show, “Not everything’s about you.”

Liberalism is defined as a political and social philosophy that promotes individual rights, civil liberties, democracy, and free enterprise. In the case of liberalism when applied to LGBTQ+ people, our Mark Alexander said, “The private affairs of consenting adults, however sordid, are their business — until they attempt to normalize and nationalize them.” In this case, liberalism taken to its extreme has devolved into Queer Marxism in which LGBTQ+ “rights” take priority. Those who disagree are called bigots because standing up to some of the nonsense that the Queer Marxists are demanding would stifle their goals.

Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but not the right to encroach on the natural liberties of others. For example, gender dysphoric individuals have the right to claim they are the opposite sex, though this is obviously not the truth. When their right to live in self-delusion encroaches on other people’s right to privacy — i.e., women’s right to safe locker rooms and bathroom spaces — this becomes a big issue. Men have always been a threat to women. They are stronger and bigger. It has been proven over and over again that men with bad intentions can easily overpower women (not to mention girls). Creating an environment for gender-confused individuals to have access to a woman’s private space is insanity.

This fear that men claiming to be women would harm biological females is unfounded, according to “trans” activists. No one knows how many times worldwide men claiming to be “trans women” commit horrific crimes against females and children. These are just some of the men who have been caught. Some of these crimes were committed in bathrooms. Not every gender dysphoric man attacks women, of course, but how many is too many for the activists? Why create the environment for something like this to happen? Are the rights of women and children worth so little that delusional men can bulldoze all over them?

Rainbow activists also push the “right” to “educate” children about their sexual identities. Their agenda, which is being pushed in public schools, is violating parental rights. They are also violating the rights of children to a safe school environment. To quote Maher again: “If we can’t admit that, in certain enclaves, there is some level of trendiness to the idea of being anything other than straight, then this is not a serious science-based discussion. It’s a blow being struck in the culture wars, using children as cannon fodder.”

Pride Month isn’t all triumph and rainbows. It’s one in which the Queer Marxists feel free to exploit the current administration to push forward harmful agendas that diminish the rights of their fellow Americans.

The Washington Post’s
BIG 2A Lie

The right to keep and bear arms IS AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN an individual right.

JUNE 2, 2022

Leftists, in their never-ending quest to rewrite American history to better support their fact-averse narratives, are at it again. This time, it’s the gun-grabbers at The Washington Post.

In an “analysis” piece titled “How the Second Amendment Was Reinterpreted to Protect Individual Rights,” someone named Amber Phillips foists the following falsehood upon the Post’s credulous readership:

Historians say that the notion that the [Second Amendment] protects people’s right to have guns for self-defense is a relatively recent reading of the Constitution, born out of a conservative push in the 1980s and ‘90s. … The interpretation that the Second Amendment extends to individuals’ rights to own guns only became mainstream in 2008, when the Supreme Court ruled in a landmark gun case, District of Columbia vs. Heller, that Americans have a constitutional right to own guns in their homes, knocking down the District’s handgun ban.

Um, no.

First, we should cling tightly and jealously to our constitutional rights whenever we hear a leftist begin an argument with, “Historians say,” because they’re about to cite a bunch of left-wing historians. Second, Americans were strongly in favor of an individual right to keep and bear arms before Heller was decided — by a 73-20 margin. Third, this isn’t merely a case of sloppy or ignorant editing. It’s part of a concerted effort. Later on in the piece, Phillips refers to “a relatively recent political push by gun rights groups to reinterpret the Constitution.”

Again, no. Here’s how National Review’s Charles Cooke describes this attempt to deceive: “It is, of course, a ridiculous, contemptuous, malicious lie, a myth, or, if you prefer to use a phrase that has become popular of late, disinformation. It has never — at any point in the history of the United States — been ‘mainstream’ to interpret the Second Amendment as anything other than a protection of ‘individuals’ rights to own guns.‘”

What’s Cooke talking about here? Well, as we learned in eighth-grade civics class, the Second Amendment to the Constitution is part of a larger treatise of 10 amendments called The Bill of Rights. And if there’s one thing we know about The Bill of Rights, it’s that the rights identified therein pertain to individuals, not ill-defined collectives. Think about it: the right to worship as we please; to speak; to write; to peaceably assemble; to freely associate; to petition the government; to due process of law; to a speedy trial by a jury of our peers; to confront our accusers; to be free from unlawful searches and seizures, and from cruel and unusual punishments; to keep from having to house the army in our homes. We could go on. And nestled there amongst all of them is our First Freedom, the freedom that enables all the others: the right to defend ourselves against individuals — or against an oppressive government — as codified in the Second Amendment:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

What part of “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed” do leftists simply not understand? As Cooke continues: “The decision in Heller was, indeed, 'landmark.’ But it was so only because it represented the first time that the Supreme Court had been asked a direct question about the meaning of the amendment that, for more than two centuries up to then, had not needed to be asked.”

Columnist David Harsanyi provides some solid historical background for the Second Amendment’s individual nature, and for the individual right to self-defense itself — which, he notes, “goes back farther than our right to a free press and to freedom of religion.”

Then there’s the argument put forth by our second president, John Adams, who noted in a letter to William Sumner that the fledgling United States would be every bit as “conquerable” as Europe were the citizenry equally disarmed. “Here,” he went on, “every house is a castle, and every man a soldier. Arms are in every hand, confidence in every mind, and courage in every heart. It depends upon its own will, and not upon the force of the enemy, whether such a country shall ever be conquered.”

The Second Amendment as a “collective” right? Rubbish.

The problem of progressive education

Thu, Jun 2, 2022
The Congressional Insider

Dear Fellow American,

You’ve probably noticed the spread of anti-American ideology into every area of American life.

Consider the 2019 controversy surrounding the Betsy Ross flag. Even though this was three years ago, you still may have heard of it.

Shortly before Independence Day, Nike announced its plans to release an athletic shoe featuring the Betsy Ross flag. Then Nike spokesman Colin Kaepernick objected, condemning the flag as a symbol of racism and slavery.

You won’t be surprised to learn that a social media storm followed, with Nike announcing that it was halting the production of the shoe.

The Kaepernick episode illustrates the problem of progressive education, which seeks to rewrite our nation’s history, and undermine the kind of informed patriotism essential to preserving liberty.

Now that you know what a few others think of the Betsy Ross flag...

...I hope you will give us your thoughts about the teaching of American history, including the American Revolution and the Declaration of Independence, by taking a short survey.

Just follow this link to share your opinion:

https://lp.hillsdale.edu/betsy-ross-flag-survey/

Like the frenzy for tearing down statues that we witnessed in cities not long ago, the Nike shoe controversy is the bitter fruit of the progressive educational agenda.

I hope I can count on you to help us confront this destructive ideology with the truth about American history.

Please share your thoughts with us today!

Why 90% of the Population Would Die Without Electricity

Experts predict that an EMP strike that wipes out electricity across the nation would ultimately lead to the demise of up to 90% of the population. However, this figure begs an important question: if we were able to live thousands of years without even the concept of electricity, why would we suddenly all die without it?

While it may seem as if going without electricity would be nothing but an unfortunate inconvenience, the truth is much more harrowing. To better understand why 90% of the population would die if the lights went out, consider the following ways in which losing electricity would impact our society.

No Electricity Means No Water
Almost no one carries a bucket to a well to draw up water anymore. What this means is that our water sources are now dependent on electricity. If an EMP strikes, the vast majority of the population would lose access to fresh water as soon as the water towers run dry.

Some people would be able to find other sources, but many would not. For those without water, the length of their lifespan would be measured in days.

No Electricity Means No Food
Those who are able to find water sources not dependent on electrical power now have another concern: food. Almost everyone who lives in an urban location is completely dependent on markets and grocery stores for their food supply. Even those who live in rural locations are largely, if not completely, dependent on buying food from outside sources.

However, if the electricity goes out, the supermarkets are going to be looted and possibly never restocked. From transportation to refrigeration, to even the growing of the food itself, our entire system of keeping the population fed is reliant on electricity.

Sure, there will be small farmers who are able to feed small amounts of people nearby, and there will be those who are able to adapt and grow their own food, but an alarming number of people would starve to death in a matter of months.

No Electricity Means No Climate Control
Some areas of the United States, such as Minnesota in the winter and Arizona in the summer, are only habitable because of climate control. If not for indoor heating and cooling, these places wouldn’t have been inhabited by so many people.

Once indoor heating and cooling disappear, surviving during the hottest and coldest times of the year will become a real problem. Some people would relocate or figure out a way to get by, but many who are unable would die of heat stroke or freeze to death.

No Electricity Means No Modern Medicine
Think of all the things that used to kill so many people before modern medicine. From polio to a ruptured appendix, there are countless things that once would have been fatal that are now either treatable or wiped out.

Modern medicine, however, is entirely dependent on electricity. Without it, all of these things would come roaring back with a vengeance. Hospitals that didn’t close their doors would lose a large majority of their effectiveness without all the machines they rely on.

Meanwhile, pharmaceutical companies would be unable to produce the wide array of prescription drugs that are keeping so many people alive.

To make matters worse, the fact that access to fresh water would be greatly diminished means sanitation would become a real problem. Without proper sanitation, diseases would spread at an exponential rate. Due to these factors, no electricity means far more sick people and fewer ways to treat them.

No Electricity Means More Murders
Within days of the electricity going out, our society is almost guaranteed to collapse into chaos. If you aren’t convinced that would happen, just look at what happens when a natural disaster devastates just a single area of the US, then multiply that by the entire country. Looters would quickly steal anything they could get their hands on, and armed gangs would roam the streets.

Law enforcement would clash with them at first, but they would almost certainly be overwhelmed in little time at all. The chaos would cause people who were once law-abiding citizens to turn to crime, and the number of criminals law enforcement would have to deal with would go through the roof.

In addition, effective law enforcement is largely dependent on good communication and teamwork – both things that become a lot more difficult in a world without electricity.

All of this is to say that, without electricity, going outside your home would suddenly become a much more dangerous endeavor. Those who are able to avoid starvation, dehydration, disease, and death by the elements would constantly have to look over their shoulders to avoid being killed. It’s not a pretty picture of human nature, but it’s a grim reality.

How to Avoid Being One of the 90%
As you’re probably well aware by now, surviving in a world without electricity would be a very tall order. The fact that a single detonation could devastate us so completely is disconcerting, to say the least, which is why many of the nation’s top defense experts agree that an EMP is the most troubling threat we would face if we ever went to war with a country that was able to hit us with one.

That said, 90% of the population dying without electricity means that 10% will make it, and a little preparation will go a long way toward ensuring you and your family are one of the 10%. Start by making sure you have access to food and water supplies that are not dependent on electricity, and stockpile all the medical supplies you can.

If you live in an area where climate control is necessary for survival, either plan for an alternative way to heat or cool your home or put together a bug out bag and be prepared to leave fast. Lastly, make sure to lay low and avoid going out unless absolutely necessary.

Surviving without electricity certainly wouldn’t be easy, and the threat of an EMP is one that should not be taken lightly. However, it can be done.

See nothing, say nothing . . .

Thu, Jun 2, 2022

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has fully transformed the snitch motto of “If you see something, say something” to “You can see nothing and say nothing” except what the government approves. DHS will now censor what the Biden administration labels “disinformation” ahead of the midterm elections! And don’t forget COVID, masks, the shots and much more.

After a pause of mere days, Joe Biden’s DHS relaunched its “Disinformation Governance Board,” which Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) nicknamed the Orwellian “Ministry of Truth” after the dystopian novel 1984. With its new director, the Disinformation Board is much more dangerous than it was under the wild radical Nina Jankowicz.

This board cannot be allowed to spin up to full operational status. Once lost, it is rare to restore freedom.

You think censorship is bad now. Wait till the Disinformation Board cranks up to full throttle. That is why we must act now to stop it!
https://lcaction.org/LCAemail/elca2205faxwhopg?t=ELCA2205-FaxWHOPG&c=ELCA2205-FaxWHOPG

There is a bill in Congress that will completely defund and shut down this board. It is critical to act now to end this censorship. Overwhelm Congress with your faxes to demand that members of Congress immediately support, co-sponsor and pass this bill. —

Joe Biden and his party are desperate to maintain control. Thus, the reason for this Disinformation Board. DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas admitted this new board will censor “disinformation and misinformation” ahead of the midterm election. So, what is “truth”? Truth is whatever the Biden administration says it is. That’s how this Disinformation Board will operate—much like the often-discredited “fact checkers” paid by the Biden administration to censor you!

The new head of the board, Michael Chertoff, clerked under judicial activists Democrat Supreme Court Justice William J. Brennan Jr., and then was the U.S. attorney general in New Jersey. He was a principal author of the Patriot Act, which threw open the door for the government to spy on Americans and indefinitely detain them.

Chertoff then became head of the Department of Homeland Security and was soon blamed for mismanagement after Hurricane Katrina. He stepped down a few years later and has been in private law ever since.

This man has a history of pushing unconstitutional invasions against our rights. Sections of the Patriot Act have been ruled unconstitutional and were struck down by several judges.

Now, Chertoff will wield the power of the federal government over free speech and freedom of the press in America. What could go wrong?

No one should have this level of power, but especially not a person who has a track record of spying on Americans and locking people in jail indefinitely, before they are convicted—in direct opposition to our Constitution. Remember, under Obama-Biden and now Biden-Harris, “domestic terrorists” include law-abiding citizens.

I can’t help but remember the Chinese drones patrolling above the streets and broadcasting the message “Control your souls’ desire for freedom” as the government chained and padlocked starving people inside their apartments. We know where people who want to control your thoughts and movements wish to take our nation. This Disinformation Board is a serious threat to freedom of speech. We must stop it now before it’s too late!

Send your urgent faxes to Congress to demand an end to all funding for the Disinformation Board NOW.
https://lcaction.org/LCAemail/elca2205faxwhopg?t=ELCA2205-FaxWHOPG&c=ELCA2205-FaxWHOPG

Politicians in America are not the only ones involved in this massive push to censor speech.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) met last week. Julie Inman Grant was one of WEF’s handpicked presenters. After working as U.S. congressional staffer and then for Bill Gates, Grant is now Australia’s “eSafety Commissioner.”

At the WEF event, she stated: “Everything feels binary when it doesn’t need to be. So I think we’re going to have to think about a recalibration of a whole range of human rights that are playing out online, from freedom of speech. … ” She goes on to discuss “online violence,” “data protection” and “child dignity.”

I want to unpack the meaning and history of what she and other globalists mean by these words … because they don’t mean the same thing that you and I would normally understand them to mean.

In Grant’s world, “online threats” include speech with which she disagrees. Take COVID and the 2020 elections, for example. Biden and many media label discussing either topic as false, disinformation, misinformation and even dangerous to “democracy.”

After Barack Obama spoke at Stanford University on April 21, urging the government to censor online communication to save the “democracy,” the Biden administration rolled out the Disinformation Board just a few days later. Obama’s wish became Biden’s command.

To these censors, “child dignity” means everything from a child being allowed to get a secret abortion or a confused child being told “gender” can be a personal choice much like the way you dress or what career you choose. If you speak against puberty blockers, opposite sex hormones or life-altering surgery to remove healthy body parts, you will be censored—or worse, fined and fired.

But right now, we have a choice. The Disinformation Board is a dangerous attack on America and the inalienable right of free speech. The board will censor information about elections, COVID, climate and much more.

We MUST stop this Disinformation Board! Send your urgent faxes to Congress to demand an end to the Disinformation Board NOW.
https://lcaction.org/LCAemail/elca2205faxwhopg?t=ELCA2205-FaxWHOPG&c=ELCA2205-FaxWHOPG

LC Action will be working hard on Capitol Hill to stop this DHS board. In addition to sending faxes and signing the petition, please support our ministry through a donation to our Challenge Grant. This will DOUBLE the impact of your donation today.

A “Misinformation” Sheriff May Soon Arrive in Connecticut

For months on end, Americans have been preaching day and night about “misinformation.” This term has been used not just in reference to information that genuinely turns out to be false, but also for speech that conflicts with left-wing narratives.

Earlier this year, Democrats and other leftists accused podcast host Joe Rogan of spreading misinformation. This was due to various guests who appeared on Rogan’s podcast, sharing narratives that strayed from widespread calls that everyone get vaccinated against COVID.

The White House, meanwhile, has called for social media to step up its game on censorship, all in the name of preventing “misinformation.”

Republicans have gone to great lengths in noting the danger of one side getting to be the arbiter of information Americans can access. Yet, in spite of these warnings, a “misinformation sheriff” could materialize in Connecticut very soon.

A Covert Strategy Ahead of the Midterms
In Connecticut, state officials are aiming to hire a misinformation sheriff as America gets closer to the November midterms.

The role of this sheriff would be to provide information about various voting options, along with cracking down against “misinformation,” namely pertaining to elections, on a full-time basis.

Thus far, the going rate for this position is $150,000 annually.

Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont (D) remains fully on board with hiring a misinformation sheriff as well. According to the Connecticut governor, so-called “foreign actors” are spreading incorrect details that need to be combated.

https://twitter.com/bunkieroy/status/1531726488021647368

It gets even more interesting, though. Once the state’s misinformation sheriff is fully installed, he or she will be directly working on “far-right” social media platforms to shut down premature “misinformation” before it becomes mainstream.

Part of this work will involve putting the squeeze on social media sites to remove content the misinformation sheriff deems as not acceptable.

A Systematic, Leftist Takeover of Social Media
Connecticut’s work to get a misinformation sheriff on the beat is not a coincidence. It follows the World Economic Forum calling for the restructuring of free speech on social media.

This initiative also comes after the White House endorsed more regulation on social networking platforms.

https://twitter.com/Texas_Ranger724/status/1531101663037202434

Conservatives and other free speech supporters have warned that a left-wing takeover of social media would have grave impacts on the Second Amendment. This is why red states like Florida and Texas have been working on legislation to prohibit social media censorship.

Whitlock: Democrats form new confederacy founded on love of dead negroes

June 02, 2022

Democrats should rename their governing body. The Democratic National Committee, established in 1848, in no way reflects the modern platform, agenda, and strategy of the party.

The Dead Negro Confederacy more accurately characterizes the political party obsessed with George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, the 1921 Tulsa Massacre, and 70-year-old racial lynchings.

Dead negroes fuel the DNC.

Yesterday, Charles Booker, a Senate candidate running for Rand Paul’s Kentucky seat, released a 72-second ad featuring a noose tied around his neck. In the ad, Booker claimed mobs lynched his ancestors. Via Twitter, he stated three of his uncles were lynched in Kentucky.

“Lynching is a tool of terror,” Booker wrote. “It was used to kill hopes for freedom. In Kentucky, it was used to kill three of my uncles. In this historic election, the choice is clear. Rand Paul may want to divide us, but hate won’t win this time. It’s time to move forward, together.”

Booker’s commercial criticized Paul for blocking federal anti-lynching legislation. The accusation is disingenuous. After objecting to a proposal that failed to properly define lynching, Paul, alongside Republican Tim Scott and Democrat Cory Booker, co-sponsored the Emmett Till Antilynching Act that is now federal law. The law is purposeless, cosmetic, and totally political. For the last 60 years, death by lightning strike has been far more prevalent than lynching.

What has become prevalent in recent years is leftist public figures and political activists using relics of America’s racist past and dead black criminal suspects to advance their careers.

Charles Booker stole his campaign strategy from Jussie Smollett, the actor who tied a noose around his neck to gain popularity. The ploy backfired on Smollett. It worked for NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace. Wallace rose from obscurity and a lack of sponsorship support on the ridiculous insinuation that a garage-door rope was really a threatening hangman’s noose.

Two years ago, Booker thought he could ride the momentum of Black Lives Matter and his participation in Breonna Taylor protests to challenge Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell for his seat. During his bid for the Democratic nomination, Booker ran a more traditional campaign. He espoused stereotypical, far-left, Bernie Sanders-approved political policies such as universal health care and the Green New Deal. Booker failed to get out of the Democratic primary. He lost to Amy McGrath, who lost a relatively close race to McConnell.

Booker’s supporters blamed the racism of white Democrats for his primary defeat. It’s no surprise that Booker is back campaigning with a racially divisive message. It’s the primary message of the Dead Negro Confederacy. The Grand Wizard of the DNC, Barack Obama, modeled the strategy in the immediate aftermath of the Uvalde massacre.

Obama told the Dead Negro Confederacy, “As we grieve the children of Uvalde, we should take time to recognize that two years have passed since the murder of George Floyd.”

The DNC does everything it can to keep dead negroes at the top of mind for the American public. Wednesday, President Joe Biden commemorated the Tulsa race massacre, tweeting:

“Today, we remember the hell unleashed 101 years ago in Tulsa, where Greenwood was raided, firebombed, and destroyed by a violent white supremacist mob. It wasn’t a riot, it was a massacre. We must continue to reckon with the past and work to build a more just future.”

The Dead Negro Confederacy strikes again. Democrats do not offer solutions. They tell black people to lock their eyes on the rearview mirror or risk being caught from behind by racists. It’s the Dead Negro Conspiracy, the conspiracy theory of choice for the left.

In their preferred conspiracy, the only thing standing between black people and a noose is the Dead Negro Confederacy.

Vote Democrat or die!

That’s the same message the KKK sounded when six former Confederate soldiers founded the organization in 1865. The KKK worked on behalf of the DNC. It’s always been the Dead Negro Confederacy.

Dead negroes have long served as the platform to elevate Democrat politicians. It explains why the Dead Negro Confederacy is perfectly comfortable with Planned Parenthood and the astronomical number of black babies killed in abortions. It also explains why cities controlled by the Dead Negro Confederacy have high murder rates among their black citizens and support defunding police.

The Dead Negro Confederacy strives to make black people vulnerable and dependent on the goodwill of government. The DNC is against self-sufficiency and self-defense. It has pitted law-abiding black people against law enforcement by convincing black people that we’re all George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, or Emmett Till.

We’re not.

Tamir Rice is not analogous to Emmett Till, a 14-year-old brutally killed in 1955 after a white woman accused him of untoward behavior. An overaggressive police officer made a tragic decision to shoot Rice while the 12-year-old was holding a toy gun.

The only people who should worry about dying the way Floyd did are people who regularly use fentanyl and think it’s wise to disobey police officers for 20 straight minutes.

If you’re a woman and believe you could be killed in a similar fashion to Taylor, I strongly urge you to get a new boyfriend. Ditch him for a man strong enough to leave you in the bedroom while he checks on the trouble at the front door and one smart enough not to indiscriminately fire his gun at police or intruders on the other side of a door.

Everyone else should be asking themselves what they find so redeeming about the Dead Negro Confederacy. Perhaps it’s the organization’s position on climate change. Let’s hope it’s not the DNC’s affinity for dead negroes.

Columnist Rips Those Who Turn to God After Uvalde Massacre

An LA Times column attacks Republicans and people of faith for turning to God after tragedies such as the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, that claimed 21 lives.

LZ Granderson, who spent 17 years with ESPN, seems particularly miffed by those who say the U.S. needs to “return” to God. Perhaps he simply mistakes “return” to mean a specific time period, or perhaps it is done quite intentionally to filter even this through the ever-present lens of race.

The writer says conservatives long for a return to the faith of “brutal enslavement” and romanticize America’s “evil beginning.” He accuses the U.S. of rebranding “slave labor camps as plantations.”

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick was mocked for saying the U.S. no longer teaches values in school but has turned to “wokeness.”

Christopher Columbus, according to Granderson, was simply “lost at sea.” Civil War enthusiasts enjoy reenactments so they can support the “bad guy” and have not been reprogrammed to think of the Confederacy as “the enemy.”

Of course, it is completely lost on Mr. Granderson that it was people of faith who first ended the slave trade and then slammed the door on slavery in the West. Hundreds of thousands died in a war fought at least in part over the issue, while Antislavery.org estimates 40 million live as slaves in 2022.

That’s the highest number in human history.

He equates faith with Jim Crow, not with the civil rights movement that brought people of belief and conviction together across the nation to implement change.

What Granderson fails to comprehend is what is painfully obvious to a small Texas town of 1,500. Sacred Heart Catholic Church welcomed a steady procession of worshipers Sunday who did exactly what the LA Times writer criticized. Other area houses of worship did the same.

Whether Sunday regulars or attendees who lapsed due to the pandemic or other reasons, hundreds passed through the doors to pray for the families of the victims.

Perhaps Mr. Granderson should note the simple yet powerful memorial to the victims erected in the town square. Family members, loved ones and strangers alike come to lay flowers, handwritten notes and little stuffed animals before 21 white crosses.

‘That’s our bread and butter’: Las Vegas wedding venues panic over warning not to use Elvis impersonators

June 2, 2022

Elvis has left the building.

As if the world could handle more lunacy, the image of the man more synonymous with Las Vegas than the mafia can no longer be an officiant for elopers wishing to be married by The King.

The licensing firm that governs Elvis Presley’s name and image has issued a cease-and-desist order to all Las Vegas chapels and venues which will prohibit them from using impersonators in any Elvis-themed weddings, the Daily Mail reported.

America’s most popular wedding locale – by an unsurprisingly huge margin – will likely suffer a big hit as the Las Vegas wedding industry accounts for $2 billion in annual revenue for the state of Nevada.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acroWz5p_z8

“We are a family-run business, and now we’re hanging with the big dogs,” said Kayla Collins, who operates LasVegasElvisWeddingChapel.com and the Little Chapel of Hearts with her husband.

“That’s our bread and butter. I don’t get it. We were just hitting our stride again through COVID, then this happens.”

Clark County Clerk Lynn Goya recently led a marketing campaign to reignite Las Vegas as a wedding destination in the wake of the COVID pandemic. She said the move by Authentic Brands Group could not have come at a worse time.

“It might destroy a portion of our wedding industry. A number of people might lose their livelihood,” Goya said.

The cease-and-desist letter said the firm intends to immediately halt the unauthorized use of “Presley’s name, likeness, voice image, and other elements of Elvis Presley’s persona in advertisements, merchandise and otherwise.” The letter also sought to remind business owners that “‘Elvis,’ ‘Elvis Presley,’ ‘and ‘The King of Rock and Roll'” are trademark protected.

Manager Rod Musum of the Graceland Wedding Chapel said he has not been served a warning yet. His venue hosts 6,400 Elvis-themed weddings a year.

Authentic Brands Group issued a statement Wednesday seeking to clarify their decision.

“We are seeking to partner with each of these small businesses to ensure that their use of Elvis’ name, image and likeness are officially licensed and authorized by the estate, so they can continue their operations,” the firm said. “Elvis is embedded into the fabric of Las Vegas history.”

The licensing company also manages the estates of such American icons as Marylin Monroe and Muhammad Ali in addition to at least 50 consumer brands.

The order – as it is for now – will not restrict the impersonation of Elvis for live performances as there is an exception under Nevada’s Right of Publicity law, according to local attorney Mark Tratos.

“An Elvis show is a performer essentially entertaining others by re-creating that person onstage,” Tratos said.

Kent Ripley, whose wedding business is named Elvis Weddings, said in 25 years no concerns have ever been raised by outside entities.

“They want to protect the Elvis brand. But what are they protecting by taking Elvis away from the public?” Ripley asked.

Presley himself was married in Las Vegas to Priscilla Beaulieu in 1967, forever cementing him in Vegas wedding lore. Moreover, the 1964 film “Viva Las Vegas” – regarded by fans and critics as one of Presley’s best movies – spawned the up-tempo tune of the same name and has become the unofficial anthem of Sin City.

In the comments for the above video, one YouTube user described the licensing firm’s decision rather bluntly:

“Let’s squeeze every ounce of fun out of life.”

Flashback: Reagan’s Speech To The NRA Hammers Home ‘Nasty Truth’ About Gun Grabbers

JUNE 2, 2022
President Ronald Reagan’s speech to the Annual Members Banquet of the National Rifle Association (NRA) in 1983 provided a “nasty truth” that could easily be applied to today’s anti-gun Democrats.

Reagan told the crowd in attendance why gun control legislation doesn’t work and referenced his own assassination attempt by John Hinckley Jr. as evidence.

He delivered a simple, yet effective line.

“It’s a nasty truth, but those who seek to inflict harm are not fazed by gun control laws,” Reagan said. “I happen to know this from personal experience.”

Hinckley, who won unconditional release scheduled for June 15th, brought a gun he bought in Dallas, Texas to Washington, D.C., something this 1981 United Press International column describes as illegal.

Reagan’s speech to the NRA was newsworthy as, according to the Washington Post, “a ringing denunciation of gun control laws” just over two years removed from being shot himself.

The iconic Republican president went on to explain that criminal control is a better means to reduce violence than gun control.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-JoMVf_f4w

“We’ve both heard the charge that supporting gun-owners rights encourages a violent, shoot-em-up society,” he explained. “But just a minute. Don’t they understand that most violent crimes are not committed by decent, law-abiding citizens?”

“They’re committed by career criminals,” added Reagan. “Guns don’t make criminals. Hard-core criminals use guns. And locking them up, the hard-core criminals up, and throwing away the key is the best gun-control law we could ever have.”

How relevant is that in a day and age when liberal DAs and politicians encourage having criminals released and roaming the streets without incarceration for their crimes?

Criminals Are Thrilled By Gun Control
In his speech to the NRA in 1983, Reagan also told a story about a letter he allegedly received from a “convicted burglar serving time in San
Quentin Prison.”

The career criminal, as the story goes, was only thwarted by one thing when preparing to strike a home.

“‘We can case a place, a home. We can watch and learn the habits of the people that live there when they’re in and out and all of that. But,”’ he said, “‘the one thing that always sticks in our mind that we can never answer is – Is that one of those homes where the fellow has a gun in a drawer by the bed?'”

“‘That’s the one that scares us most of all,'” the letter read according to Reagan.

Popular podcast host Joe Rogan recently echoed Reagan’s point that gun control means only criminals will have the guns.

“Is the answer to take everyone’s guns?” he asked adding, “Only criminals are gonna have guns. It’s not gonna be a good situation.”

Rogan continued, “Freedoms lost are rarely regained.”

Freedoms, Reagan said in his speech, should not be a right or left issue.

“When it comes to keeping America free, there should be no Republicans or Democrats, only patriotic Americans working together,” he told the crowd.
