TX Gov. Abbott ‘livid’ over being ‘misled’ about police response to school shooting
May 28, 2022

Texas Governor Greg Abbott reacted strongly over the admitted failure by law enforcement to quickly engage with the shooter during Tuesday’s bloody massacre of 19 children and their teachers at a Lone Star State elementary school, saying that he “is livid” and that he had been “misled” over the police response.

Initially, Abbott had praised the police for their quick action but as details emerged about the day’s events, it became clear that their reaction was anything but quick as officers waited for over an hour to breach the classroom while Salvadore Ramos continued to execute kids inside, mistakenly believing the gunman was barricaded inside.

Texas Department of Public Safety head Steven McCraw acknowledged that “It was the wrong decision,” at a Friday news conference.

At Governor Abbott’s own news conference in Uvalde where he answered questions about the carnage at Robb Elementary, he expressed his anger over being provided with inaccurate information at the time of the shooting.

“I was misled,” he said. “I am livid about what happened.”

“I was on this very stage two days ago, and I was telling the public information that had been told to me in a room just a few yards behind where we’re located right now,” he said, adding that, “I wrote down hand notes in detail about what everybody in that room told me in sequential order about what happened”

“And when I came out on that stage and told the public what happened, it was a recitation of what people in that room told me, whether it be law enforcement officials or non-law enforcement officials, whatever the case may be.” Abbott continued. “And as everybody has learned, the information that I was given turned out – in part – to be inaccurate.”

“And I am absolutely livid about that,” he emphasized.

“And here’s my expectation, my expectation is that the law enforcement leaders that are leading the investigations which includes the Texas Rangers and the FBI,” the governor continued, “they get to the bottom of every fact with absolute certainty. There are people who deserve answers the most and those are the families whose lives have been destroyed, they need answers that are accurate and it is inexcusable that they may have suffered from any inaccurate information whatsoever.”

“And it is imperative that the leaders of the investigations about exactly what happened, get down to the very seconds of exactly what happened with 100 percent accuracy and explain it to the public but most importantly, to the victims who’ve been devastated,” he said.

During his press conference,  Abbott talked about how state resources would be made available to the grieving families of the victims, prompting an ill-advised tweet from former NBA player and social media influencer Rex Chapman that he quickly deleted.

“Greg Abbott is sitting here at the press conference throwing millions and millions of dollars in state funds at the Uvalde victims, Jfc,” he tweeted. “Just pass gun control legislation! This is absurd,” in yet another sick example of how little regard that leftists have for the victims, it’s all about getting rid of the guns.

Abbott also announced that an anonymous donor has stepped forward with $175,000 to cover funeral expenses for the victims.

WaPo mocked for ‘big scoop’ that maker of gun used in TX school massacre donated to GOP
May 28, 2022

The leftist media is tripping all over themselves in a frantic effort to weaponize the slaughter of 19 young children and their teachers at a Texas elementary school to score political points by churning out propaganda to demonize Republicans for the actions of the deranged monster who took their lives.

But The Washington Post may have shot itself in the foot with what it promoted as a major scoop.

The intrepid muckrakers at WaPo breathlessly broke the story that the owners of Daniel Defense, the manufacturer of the rifle that was used by 18-year-old shooter Salvador Ramos during his killing spree, have donated money to the GOP, not exactly a stunning bombshell when considering that the Republican Party isn’t actively working to put gunmakers out of business.

According to the paper, the company’s owners are “deep-pocketed Republican donors, giving to candidates and committees at the federal and state level aligned against limits on access to assault rifles and other semiautomatic weapons.”

“The owners of the Georgia-based company have donated more than $70,000 directly to GOP candidates for federal office this election cycle, according to a review of filings with the Federal Election Commission. Daniel Defense itself gave $100,000 last year to a PAC backing incumbent Republican senators,” according to WaPo.

The paper also struck out at former NFL superstar and GOP Senate candidate Herschel Walker in a sleazy effort to insinuate that he bears some of the blame for the Uvalde massacre.

“The beneficiaries of the couple’s political contributions include at least one candidate who emerged victorious in Tuesday’s primary contests, Herschel Walker. The former football star is running for the U.S. Senate in Georgia with former president Donald Trump’s endorsement. Asked Tuesday night whether he would support new gun legislation, Walker said, “What I like to do is see it and everything and stuff.”

Twitter users just weren’t having it and fired back at WaPo and its shifting of the blame away from the actual shooter.

What some including Jason Whitlock of “Fearless” pointed out is that the media wasn’t exactly beating down the doors of the manufacturer of the SUV that was used as a murder weapon by a murderous black supremacist who drove his vehicle through a crowd of white people at a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin last year, killing six and injuring dozens including children and members of the Dancing Grannies performing group.

“Help me understand. Were there stories on the car manufacturer after the Waukesha Massacre?” Whitlock asked.

Others had the same question.

The family-owned gunmaker has been targeted by the gun-grabbing left over an ad that featured a child with one of its products.

Among those taking to Twitter to attack Daniel Defense is Lincoln Project grifter Steve Schmidt who appears to have finally recovered from a weeklong meltdown about Meghan McCain’s new book.

Deranged, aging, unmarried and childless YouTuber Keith Olbermann, who was once a heavy hitter at MSNBC and ESPN but who is now relegated to making angry videos and tweeting from the lonely confines of his New York City apartment, joined the piling on of Daniel Defense.

The one thing about the leftist media and its Twitter trolls is that their hit pieces and smear jobs are so transparent in their dishonesty that normal people tune them out.

Uvalde mother says cop handcuffed her before she rushed into school to rescue her children: 'Police were doing nothing'

May 27, 2022

One mother whose children attend Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, recounted on Thursday the shocking story of what happened when she arrived at the school as the gunman was inside murdering students and teachers.

What happened?
After hearing about the active shooter situation, Angeli Rose Gomez, a farm supervisor, rushed 40 miles to the school, where her children are in second and third grade.

When she arrived at the school, Gomez said she was shocked by inaction from police officers.

"The police were doing nothing," Gomez told the Wall Street Journal. "They were just standing outside the fence. They weren’t going in there or running anywhere."

Gomez was one of dozens of parents who rushed to Robb Elementary and pleaded with police officers to enter the school, neutralize the gunman, and save the innocent lives inside. But shocking videos show a massive police presence outside the school blocking outraged parents from doing what police were not. In the case of Gomez, police allegedly detained her.

Gomez said that an officer with the U.S. Marshals placed her in handcuffs, arresting her for "intervening in an active investigation," the Journal reported.

However, she told the newspaper that local Uvalde police officers, whom she knew, freed her. She then scaled the fence surrounding the school, rushed into the building, and sprinted out with her children.

The chaotic scene outside the school, which has circulated on social media, included officers who allegedly used a taser and pepper spray against other parents, Gomez claimed.

What did the US Marshals say?
A spokesperson for the federal law enforcement agency denied that any parent was placed in handcuffs.

"Our deputy marshals maintained order and peace in the midst of the grief-stricken community that was gathering around the school," the spokesperson told the Journal.

Anything else?
Significant questions have arisen over law enforcement's response to the massacre.

Texas police admitted Thursday the gunman entered the school unabated, that he was in the school for up to an hour before police engaged him, and he was actually outside the school firing shots for 12 minutes before he ever entered the school, the Journal reported.

Texas DPS Lt. Chris Olivarez explained on Thursday the large amount of time that elapsed before police engaged the gunman was because responding officers "could have been shot — they could have been killed."

"So they were able to contain that gunman inside that classroom so that he was not able to go to any other portions of the school to commit any other killings," Olivarez said.

Red Flag Laws And Unintended Consequences

May 28, 2022

The senseless murder of 19 children and two teachers at the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas is leading to calls for more gun control. To some, “red flag” laws, also known as Extreme Risk Protection Orders, seem like the obvious solution. These laws allow judges to seize a person’s guns without a trial, based solely on a written complaint that the person might be a danger to themselves or others. All a judge needs is “reasonable suspicion.”

“We know that we can show we can be united to protect our children,” said Sen. Joe Manchin, a famously moderate West Virginia Democrat.

We also care about children, but much better laws are already in place. We are concerned that red flag laws will cause more harm than good.

Democratic politicians’ support for red flag is almost universal, but the Washington Times reports that some Republican senators are now warming up to such legislation. “For people who threatened harm to themselves or somebody else, you could only go through law enforcement, and you had to go through the courts, and it wasn’t permanent,” explained Republican Sen. Rick Scott, who signed a red flag bill while governor of Florida.

It has always been possible to take a dangerous person’s guns away. All 50 states and the federal government have involuntary commitment laws that go by various names: the Baker Act in Florida, for example, or the 5150 code in California. They all require a mental health expert to testify before a judge, but hearings can occur quickly in urgent cases.

If those facing a hearing can’t afford a lawyer, the judge provides them with one. Judges have a lot of flexibility when ruling. For instance, if the person on trial does not agree to voluntary psychiatric treatment, they may be committed involuntarily or have their guns confiscated.

But red flag laws remove all these due process protections. Based only on a written complaint, which could come from a relative, friend, neighbor, or police officer, a judge decides whether to take away a person’s guns. There is no ability to challenge claims or to offer testimony from a mental health care expert. Gun control advocates argue that the person should not even know that the judge may be deciding to take his or her guns. When a hearing finally takes place up to a month later, if the person in question cannot afford an attorney, they will not be provided with one.

When faced with the costs for a hearing, which may be up to $10,000, few people find that fighting red flag laws to keep their guns makes sense. Few defendants obtain legal representation, but the courts still overturn a third of the initial orders. The actual error rate is undoubtedly much higher, because many of those wrongly prosecuted don’t have a lawyer.

People who truly pose a clear danger to themselves or others should be confined to a mental health facility or be required to seek treatment. Laws used to confiscate guns are typically enforced when dealing with suicidal people. However, if someone is suicidal, there are many other ways they may choose to kill themselves. Simply taking away a gun isn’t the answer.

A person intent on violence may not even need a gun to inflict mass carnage. Are we going to also take away their cars? Gun control advocates find it much easier to conjure up new laws without protections than to fine-tune laws already on the books. They find that times of national grieving present an opportunity to push new measures through Congress.

We worry that red flag laws could actually increase instances of suicide. One of us, Nikki Goeser, watched as a stalker murdered her husband in front of her. As anyone would understand, that loss left her devastated. Despite her grief, however, she was not suicidal. But a well-meaning friend or relative might have raised a complaint, worrying that she was depressed and had a gun. With a stalker having just murdered her husband, taking away her ability to protect herself from stalkers would have left her feeling even more vulnerable.

Under Baker Act statutes, she would have had a chance to explain her concerns to the mental health care experts. If that didn’t work, she would have still had a hearing with a lawyer and been given the opportunity to explain her situation to the judge.

Simply talking to other people about your depression can be important in overcoming it. But with red flag laws in place, people may have been reluctant to discuss their mental state with others. Police officers also often experience work-related depression. They may bottle up their feelings for fear of losing their guns, and thus their jobs.

We don’t want a world where police make unannounced predawn raids or people lose their fundamental right to self-defense without a judicial hearing. For some, it’s a matter of life and death.

New Documents Reveal Secret Plans U.S. Government Has For Doomsday Scenarios

May 28, 2022

Newly released documents from the U.S. government have shed light on how the White House might respond to potential doomsday scenarios if they were to come to fruition.

The documents, obtained by the Brennan Center for Justice through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and reported on by The New York Times, highlight a small portion of the directives that are so secret that Congress has not seen them.

The classified directives, which date back to the Cold War, invoke emergency and wartime powers. There appear to have been significant changes to the directives after the September 11, 2001, Islamic terrorist attacks on the U.S.

The report said that some of the new documents, which come from George W. Bush’s administration, indicate a focus on a government “take over or shut down [of] communications networks in wartime.” The Bush administration appears to have expanded the number of directives from 48 to 56.

The documents also indicate that the Justice Department in 2008 were revising a draft order due to a recent Supreme Court ruling, which the report suggests could be related to the Second Amendment or the rights of detainees.

The documents show that the number of categories that the directives focused on has expanded from one, which appears to have been a nuclear attack, to seven, which are classified.

The report said that a lot of what is known about the directives comes from the Cold War-era versions of the documents because more of those documents have been declassified.

The New York Times reported:
For example, they included directives imposing versions of martial law, censoring information crossing the border and suspending court hearings for detained people. It is unclear whether the current set includes similar actions.

Other orders from that era included a declaration that a state of war existed, a directive to arrange for reconvening Congress at a secure site, and the creation of an agency empowered to impose sweeping controls over the economy. That agency, reporting to the president, could enact controls like requisitioning private property and allocating materials; imposing wage, price and rent controls; rationing; and settling labor disputes.

A report from Politico in 2020 revealed what some experts believe are major threats that could destabilize the U.S. and would appear to fit the type of scenarios that the U.S. government would plan for.

Some of the threats mentioned in the report include the rise of extremist racial groups; manufactured or manipulated attacks on data; bioterrorism, lab accidents, and pandemics; downed power grids and solar flares; nuclear attack; extreme weather and major earthquakes.

Uvalde Gunman Threatened School Shootings, Rapes Leading Up To Massacre, Social Media Users Say

May 28, 2022
An 18-year-old shooter who killed more than a dozen children at an elementary school on Tuesday reportedly made threats about shooting up schools and raping girls on social media in the weeks preceding the massacre.

The shooter, who will not be named per Daily Wire policy, killed at least 19 children and two adults at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.

Teen users of social media app Yubo told CNN of such threats, most of which were apparently made via livestream, but noted they “didn’t take him seriously” until news broke this week.

“Three users said they witnessed [redacted] threaten to commit sexual violence or carry out school shootings on Yubo, an app that is used by tens of millions of young people around the world,” CNN reported.

“The users all said they reported [the] account to Yubo over the threats,” the report added. “But it appeared, they said, that [redacted] was able to maintain a presence on the platform.”

The shooter told girls he’d rape them and showed off expensive rifles, as well as a “$2,000 receipt for his online gun purchase,” CNN said.

A spokesperson for Yubo told CNN via a statement, “we are deeply saddened by this unspeakable loss and are fully cooperating with law enforcement on their investigation.”

The platform is “investigating an account that has since been banned from the platform,” the spokesperson added.

In one report on the gruesome tragedy, a mother of two students at the elementary school claimed she was cuffed by U.S. Marshals after she urged officers to enter the school while the active shooter was still inside.

After persuading her release, the mother said she hopped a fence and rushed into the school, sprinting back out after she grabbed her children.

“The police were doing nothing,” mother Angeli Rose Gomez accused, according to The Wall Street Journal. “They were just standing outside the fence. They weren’t going in there or running anywhere.”

The Daily Wire reported Thursday that the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has confirmed that the shooter “was not confronted by law enforcement before he entered Robb Elementary School through an unlocked door.”

“BREAKING: Texas DPS now says that there was no school police officer who encountered or engaged the mass shooter at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, TX,” reported Fox News’ Bill Melugin. “Shooter was not confronted before entry and it appears he walked into the school through an unlocked door, per DPS.”

Now the Cancel Mob Has Bill Maher’s Head on Chopping Block

Comedian and HBO host Bill Maher is now the target of the radical left’s cancel mob over daring to call gender transitioning “literally experimenting on children.” He then labeled the explosion of kids in certain areas of the country identifying as trans “trendy.”

Maher observed that the American LGBT population is roughly doubling every generation. He then quipped that “we will all be gay by 2054.”

After what critics describe as his “anti-transgender monologue” on last Friday’s episode of “Real Time,” trans activists say it’s time for the liberal talker to go. See, their ideological brother went too far.

LGBT Network leader David Kilmnick, called Maher’s statements “frightening” and demanded HBO ax “Real Time” from its programming. He said that the host’s reputation as being both liberal and progressive is no protection from being held “accountable.”

“Accountable” is left-speak for punishment for harboring opinions contrary to theirs.

Maher correctly observed that, in playing along with trans radicals, “we’re literally experimenting on children.” Calling out the unprecedented wave of medical procedures on children in their formative years, he said this subject must be discussed.

Sweden, he notes, banned puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones for so-called “gender dysphoric” children under 16. One of the most liberal countries in the world says the treatments are “potentially fraught with extensive and irreversible adverse consequences.”

Again, as Maher says, this is Sweden. By the way, Finland made a similar move against this new form of human experimentation.

The comedian slammed efforts by ACLU attorney Chase Strangio to ban “Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters.” Leftist book-banners — times are really strange. A courageous expose of radical medical ideology, the book became a bestseller.

Written by Wall Street Journal columnist Abigail Shrier, it warns Americans of the ideological craze of medical treatments for girls with “gender dysphoria,” a concept unheard of a decade ago.

It is difficult to think of something more frightening than treatments on kids that at best have unknown and at worst dangerous consequences. We’ve come a long way from the days of playing dress-up and drag queens. Now it’s medical treatments on children, and Maher is 100% right.

Get a BIG spoon to stir this pot of sh!t...
Jankowicz: ‘Ministry of Truth’ Could Stop Mass Shootings

Nina Jankowicz, who stepped down from heading the Department of Homeland Security’s Disinformation Governance Board, says the operation could have helped prevent mass shootings. (She has no credibility, now.)

The board, which is now on pause, was quickly pummeled for everything from its overly broad and vague mission to its ominous name. “Ministry of Truth” trended on Twitter as critics railed against its likeness to George Orwell’s dystopian novel “1984.”

And don't you forget it!

But Jankowicz, who took her share of criticism before stepping down, told NPR that the board’s mission included responding to violent threats. Both recent mass shooters in Buffalo, New York, and Uvalde, Texas, posted information about their attacks, but far too late to act upon.

None of these Morons can figure out how to further harass Ron Tello and his big Free Speech mouth. (He is NOT dormant).

She correctly claims that violent extremism is “begotten” at least in part by what some individuals see online. This was established before 9/11 and then certainly afterwards.

And at least in the case of the Buffalo gunman, there are strong reasons to believe that he was influenced by online materials. Wanting to stop mass shootings is a noble cause, but through controlling (dis)information?

Even as the Disinformation board was criticized for its vague purpose, Jankowicz herself struggles to define its mission.

She repeatedly asserts that it was not a “whack-a-troll” process of fact-checking online claims. Nor did it have operational authority or capability. Disinformation which radicalizes, Jankowicz claims, is what the board would address.

Ok. How?

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told CNN that the board would “gather together best practices” concerning foreign adversaries. In other words, cartels, terrorist groups and Russia. No serious person will complain about that mission.

But was that the mission? And how would going after these prevent the tragedies of Buffalo and Uvalde?

Mayorkas also claimed the Disinformation Governance Board would not and could not monitor Americans. Just a hunch, but neither mass shooter is likely to have been influenced by the Kremlin or Mexican cartels.

Reasonable people brought serious concerns to light about the hopelessly vague quest assigned to Jankowicz and her board. All the retrofitting in the world by her and the Biden White House does not change the fact that a virtual blank check to target “misinformation” was recklessly given.

Social Commentator Ron Tello suggested that "if these Gov-o-crats really want to boogie, let them get to the root cause of America's core woes and diseases. Look no further than Jay Ward Productions in the early 1960's. That's some dirt. Get some!"

National Anthem Protests Return To America

San Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler now says he will not come onto the field for the pregame national anthem ceremony until he feels “better about the direction of our country.”

At issue, the horrific mass shooting at a Texas elementary school that claimed 21 lives, including 19 children.

As Friday’s game at the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati was about to commence, Kapler told reporters he will not go out for the anthem “going forward.” In an accompanying blog post, the 2021 National League Manager of the Year laid out his reasons.

Entitled “Home of the Brave?”, the manager says his father taught him as a child to stay seated when the country wasn’t “representing its people well.

And fly the American Flag upside down."

Kapler noted every time he stands for the anthem, places a hand over heart and removes his hat, it’s more than it seems. He describes the act as “self-congratulatory glorification” of the “ONLY country where mass shootings take place.

He also points to the actions, or inactions, of law enforcement on the scene as evidence against the anthem’s declaration of “home of the brave.” Kapler was also a kneeler during the 2020 Black Lives Matter protest summer.

The Giants manager admits to feeling like a “coward” for standing for the anthem Wednesday, the day following the massacre at Robb Elementary School. He also is aware that the move could be “misunderstood” by military personnel and veterans.

It is worth noting that only seven Giants were on the field for the playing of the anthem — four players, two coaches, and a trainer. There had been an over two-hour rain delay, so that could be a factor. Over-salted peanuts was considered to be another factor.

Several sports franchises since the Texas tragedy have used their social media platforms to post messages about gun violence. This, of course, is something their fans either will or will not react to, and that’s fine. They carry guns legally.

Kapler’s announcement parrots the spectacle of NFL players kneeling for the anthem that led to a sharp decline in the league’s popularity. Pro football is just now gaining back some of the fan base as the memory of disrespectful acts fades, and now baseball takes center stage.

Leftist media types tried to pin the NFL’s loss of fans on everything from streaming competition to concussions and smee. No one outside of their bubble bought this explanation, and for good reason. San Francisco is one thing, but baseball should beware the spread of this “protest” into other markets, such as Lawn Darts, Polo, Frisbee, Fox Hunts, Swimming Competitions, Battle of The Bands and Russian Roulette.

Memorial Day Weekend Drone Light Show
POSTED: 05/10/22

share »
Show will be weather permitting due to high winds, decision will be made at 9:15 PM.

The Memorial Weekend Drone Show will be streamed in the video below. The countdown will begin at 9 PM, and the show will begin at 9:15 PM. Be sure to click the 'play' button to begin the video stream.

MEMORIAL WEEKEND DRONE SHOW

Visit Big Bear originally planned to host a fireworks show Sunday, May 29 in honor of the Memorial Weekend holiday. Due to the presence of the young eaglet in the bald eagle nest, a fireworks show is too risky due to the noise and pyrotechnic activity. So.....

In lieu of fireworks, Visit Big Bear will host a silent drone light show for that Sunday, May 29! Visit Big Bear has teamed up with Hire UAV Pro to put on this new event. The show will be free to all spectators however a few important notes to remember:

The drone show will reach a height of 400 feet, so your location will affect your view.
The drone show will be best enjoyed from the north and south shores where you can get a view from the front and the back. Views from the side may be less visible.
Find your viewing spot early as crowds are anticipated.
The show will begin at approx. 9:15 PM when the sun has completely gone down. The local radio station KBHR will host a patriotic musical accompaniment to the show available on 93.3 and 102.5 FM. Listen from the car or take your radio lakeside!

What Memorial Day Means For Those Of Us Who Made It Home

MAY 26, 2022

Memorial Day is generally the kick-off of summer trips to the beach, road trips to state parks, and backyard barbeques with friends while sizzling under the warm sun.

It’s also often when social media is filled with veterans posting the differences between Armed Forces Day, Veterans Day, and Memorial Day. Followed up by profile pictures changing to ones in uniform or the iconic battlefield cross.

My family isn’t much different. This Friday afternoon, we will head out to go on a little Memorial Day weekend trip. We won’t be going to the beach. Still, we will be visiting historical locations in the country and paying homage to friends we left behind.

Two Veterans, Countless Friends
My husband and I are both military veterans. My husband served 17 years in the Air Force, and I retired after 20. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I absolutely love my retirement.

I no longer sport my conservative brown bob haircut with conservative makeup. Instead, I rock a bright red mohawk. I often don’t wear any makeup, much to my mother’s chagrin, or I wear very colorful makeup.

You give up a lot when you raise your right hand and swear to protect and defend. I served under four Presidents; two Republicans and two Democrats. I deployed numerous times, traveled all over this country and world, and did so willingly without public complaint.

While I thoroughly relish my freedom to openly critique my government on this medium, a day doesn’t go by that I don’t think of my brothers and sisters in arms who never did make it home.

The Best Gift Of All
The military is a hard business. It’s really not for everybody. There is a lot about serving that is just absolutely terrible. This terribleness varies in degrees. But there are a lot of great things that come from the military.

I was blessed to travel the world, learn a skill or two, gain some grit and resilience, and get my higher education through my Master’s Degree for free. Although, I’d argue I paid for that education, just perhaps not in a traditional sense.

However, the best gift the military gives you isn’t any of those things; it’s family.

As a senior leader, I used to tell my young Airmen that when they wear the uniform, they represent two families… the one they were born into and the one they joined. Since the uniform displays your last name and branch of service, I always felt it had a nice poetic flair.

No Different Than Most Families
Families are complicated and messy. Especially lately. So many families are torn apart because one person is a Republican or one person is a Democrat. Sad to think that these are the things that we use as a litmus test on whether we stay in contact with one another. My own family is not immune to this plight.

The military family is also complicated and messy. Talk about jamming disparate people into tight spaces and forcing them to work together towards a common goal and protect one another in battle.

We are women, men, straight, gay, Christian, Muslim, Atheist, Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, rich, poor, classically educated, street smart, and mixes of everything.

And yes, we sometimes really can’t stand one another.

But we love one another.

Gone Too Soon
I can remember the first time I lost a friend in arms. We were deployed, and they were someone who took me under their wing. Older and wiser than I, they helped me make sense of nonsensical things and learn to let go of things that didn’t matter.

Every day I looked forward to our talks and his ‘mentorship’ in the gym, where he’d regularly ‘smoke’ me.

Then one day, he was gone.

This wouldn’t be the first time I would lose someone to war. On one of my last deployments, I had a job where soldiers and SEALs would travel to my location to conduct the business of war before heading back out to undisclosed locations.

I’d see the same faces week after week from each location. Then all of a sudden, I’d see a new face. I learned quickly to not ask what happened to so and so because the answer was always the same. They were gone.

There Are Worse Ways To Go
The brothers and sisters I’ve lost stay with me every day. The world was better with them in it, and I am better because I knew them.

My grandmother, a part of the Greatest Generation, told my mom once while watching some news report about a horrific murder in the states that there are worse ways to die than in battle.

To die for one’s country is to die for something more profound than just the landmass that is the United States. To die for one’s country is to die for something more profound than symbols like our flag, Uncle Sam, baseball, or apple pie.

To die for one’s country is to die fighting for something so much larger than any of those things. It’s to die for an idea, a belief that the world can be better, that we can be better.

My husband and I are lucky. Thanks to everyday men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice, we can live for our country.

Remember my brothers and sisters as you light up the BBQ, crack open a cold one, and plan out your summer events this weekend. And make sure you live the hell out of your life for them.

DHS Now Considers Free Speech As Terrorism Threat
Reprinted from Liberty Counsel Feb 9, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Since the Biden administration cannot impede upon the First Amendment, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has now published a terrorist advisory system bulletin warning of a “heightened threat environment” nationwide. The wording on the DHS publication is so broad that it appears to include constitutionally protected free speech along with violent activity.

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas stated the National Terrorism Advisory System Bulletin was fueled by multiple factors, including “an online environment filled with false or misleading narratives and conspiracy theories, and other forms of mis- dis- and mal-information (MDM) introduced and/or amplified by foreign and domestic threat actors” who seek to “exacerbate societal friction to sow discord and undermine public trust in government institutions to encourage unrest, which could potentially inspire acts of violence.”

The Summary of Terrorism Threat to the U.S. Homeland reads:

“The United States remains in a heightened threat environment fueled by several factors, including an online environment filled with false or misleading narratives and conspiracy theories, and other forms of mis- dis- and mal-information (MDM) introduced and/or amplified by foreign and domestic threat actors. These threat actors seek to exacerbate societal friction to sow discord and undermine public trust in government institutions to encourage unrest, which could potentially inspire acts of violence. Mass casualty attacks and other acts of targeted violence conducted by lone offenders and small groups acting in furtherance of ideological beliefs and/or personal grievances pose an ongoing threat to the nation. While the conditions underlying the heightened threat landscape have not significantly changed over the last year, the convergence of the following factors has increased the volatility, unpredictability, and complexity of the threat environment: (1) the proliferation of false or misleading narratives, which sow discord or undermine public trust in U.S. government institutions; (2) continued calls for violence directed at U.S. critical infrastructure; soft targets and mass gatherings; faith-based institutions, such as churches, synagogues, and mosques; institutions of higher education; racial and religious minorities; government facilities and personnel, including law enforcement and the military; the media; and perceived ideological opponents; and (3) calls by foreign terrorist organizations for attacks on the United States based on recent events” (emphasis added).

According to the DHS, any information or opinions that are considered “anti-government” are considered a “threat” to America’s national security. However, anti-law enforcement ideologies such as those espoused by Antifa and Black Lives Matter are not even mentioned. The advisory also does not mention drug cartels currently operating at the open borders.

DHS specifies key factors contributing to the “current heightened threat environment” involve information regarding COVID-19, including the shot and mask mandates.

DHS states, “As COVID-19 restrictions continue to decrease nationwide, increased access to commercial and government facilities and the rising number of mass gatherings could provide increased opportunities for individuals looking to commit acts of violence to do so, often with little or no warning. Meanwhile, COVID-19 mitigation measures—particularly COVID-19 vaccine and mask mandates—have been used by domestic violent extremists to justify violence since 2020 and could continue to inspire these extremists to target government, healthcare, and academic institutions that they associate with those measures” (emphasis added).

DHS also lists people who discuss election integrity and voter fraud as threats. The advisory states, “Some domestic violent extremists have continued to advocate for violence in response to false or misleading narratives about unsubstantiated election fraud. The months preceding the upcoming 2022 midterm elections could provide additional opportunities for these extremists and other individuals to call for violence directed at democratic institutions, political candidates, party offices, election events, and election workers.”

Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver said, “The National Terrorism Advisory System Bulletin is the latest tactic by the Biden administration to trample on the First Amendment and bully law-abiding citizens. When did criticizing government institutions and policies regarding masking and shot mandates become a domestic terrorism threat? When did public assemblies alone become a threat?

The First Amendment guarantees freedom of religion, expression, assembly, and the right to petition the government. Freedom of speech is a fundamental right of every dissenting voice to freely voice or express their opinions and ideas. The First Amendment does not have a truth meter that the government must pre-approve.

The Founders considered free speech to be a natural right that was vital to the existence of a healthy republic. However, this administration apparently feels threatened by Americans who think for themselves and will not uncritically accept government propaganda and coercion.”

Elko already did it to me once before.

To Review:

[District Attorney] Ingram pulls out a stack of printouts of my "There is Law" blog with post-it notes of his "faves" which he proceeded to introduce to the Court by saying "Your Honor, Mr. Culley said things on the internet that I find disturbing and seemingly indicative of his character.."

Without prefacing the presentation by saying the name and purpose of my blog, he did the "pick and choose"; citing random bits completely out of context...AND he deliberately misinterpreted them to fit his narrative and agenda.

The kicker; the nail driven into my freedom was this post:

Quote from: tellomon on December 19, 2013, 06:59:56 AM
I yearn for the day when I can go to the signs at each end of town and replace the M with an R, and Pop. 300+ to 1.

It's good to dream; it's better to hustle.

See you on TV!

Ingram tells Judge Mason "This to me says that if we let Mr. Culley go...he's going to kill everyone in Montello"

And Mason said "Yer right. Motion for bail reduction denied."

I saw my life fade to black.

And it was that ruling that kept me warehoused, on ice, in jail for 357 days.

Ingram did have somewhere to go.

HE LIED!!!!

This was completely out of the scope of the case at hand: I shot Alderman in
Self-Defense, and he admitted his blunder.

No matter. Elko likes to coddle the perps and punish their victims.

Free Speech, Terrorism, and
European Security:
Defining and Defending the
Political Community
\
Shawn Marie Boyne

“[W]e are seeing an increasing use of what I call the „T-word?—
terrorism—to demonize political opponents, to throttle freedom
of speech and the press, and to delegitimize legitimate political
grievances.”1

U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan (2003)
The United States and its European allies are engaged in a
global struggle against terror. While world-wide criticism of
America‘s leadership of the ?war on terror? has focused
attention on America‘s human rights transgressions, the
United States is not the only democratic state that, at times,
has privileged national security over civil liberties. Just as
images of the burning World Trade Center towers transformed
America‘s domestic political dynamic and propelled thenPresident Bush to declare a war on terror, subsequent terrorist attacks in London2 and Madrid3 have raised the stakes, as well as the human rights challenges, in Europe.

Without a doubt, both the March 2004 Madrid train
bombings and the July 2005 suicide attacks on the London
transit system noticeably shook European politics and
reshaped Europe‘s counterterrorism policies, albeit in disparate
ways.4

Coupled with the assassination of Dutch filmmaker
Theo van Gogh in Amsterdam in November 2004,5 the London
and Madrid bombings strongly impacted European
consciousness and public opinion, stirring public fears that
jihadist networks had penetrated Europe.6
In testimony given before the United States Senate in June 2007, the Dutch
Deputy National Coordinator for Counterterrorism testified
that ?the greatest threat to the Netherlands? was Islamic
radicalism and jihadism.7

In a report released in April 2009,
the National Coordinator for Counterterrorism in the
Netherlands rated the threat posed to the Netherlands by
terrorism as ?substantial.?8

 In 2007, German Interior Minister
Wolfgang Schäuble stated that ?[t]here are a lot of concrete
indications . . . that show that Germany has increasingly
moved into the crosshairs of international terrorism.?9
