That's nasty behaviour on the part of a competitor. From what the seller concerned has said, it's leading to her having no choice but to close down.

Ombudsman to review Aust Post's $50 compensation limit

Ombudsman to review Aust Post's $50 compensation limit

In the news today the industry Ombudsman has decided that Australia Post's compensation limit of $50 is due for a review, since it has been in place since 1987 and has not kept up with the Consumer Price Index.

Aust Post however is resisting this move and insists that raising the limit is unnecessary because: their average claim is only $38 anyway; and that they have since 1987 offered improved services such as registered post.

that's very creative accounting on the part of Australia Post

it easy to arrive at an average of $38 when the limit is only $50

if the limit was $100 the average would rise

Good comment bnwt, they are sounding more and more like eBay every day. Maybe they are all going to the same seminars for unscrupulous commercial enterprises.

‘eBay: On Location’ to Help Sellers Gain Insights, Boost Business
http://www.marketwatch.com/story/ebay-on-location-to-help-sellers-gain-insights-boost-business-2010-02-08?reflink=MW_news_stmp

“…And to help small-business and part-time eBay sellers accelerate their businesses on eBay, the company today announced a new series of events called ‘eBay: On Location’.”

Isn’t that interesting, eBay is again interested in even “part-time sellers”. That’s those little sellers who rarely know what they are doing and who were too much of a nuisance to accommodate yesterday. My, how things have changed; I smell another disaster approaching for the March quarter. Can’t wait for 21 April, to hear the spin the eBafia Don will put on it this time.

Reminds me of an old saying.... "" be good to the little people on the way up because you may need them on the way down "" ... isn't it strange how old sayings seem to resurface years later... some things in life will never change no matter how much humans evolve...

BNWT, that is a disturbing article. I think it's worth quoting in full (I'll open a separate thread).

It has implications for anyone who gets coding done by Indian web designers, and it might have far-reaching financial implications with regard to other countries' banking systems too.

re #1037. As much as I feel sorry for the Indian sellers (& buyers) non of this would have occurred if Paypal had complied with Indian law.

Good on the Indian regulators for forcing Paypal to toe the line. Perhaps a few other Country's regulators will sit up & take note.

John Donahoe, chief executive of eBay

The 49-year-old has given eBay a new lease of life by putting the buyer first – but he has upset a lot of small sellers in the process
