"Sellers were concerned that the some changes would actually irritate buyers and negatively impact sellers' DSRs, particularly the reminders that eBay plans to send buyers if they haven't paid within a certain amount of time after making a purchase."

I agree that these changes are potentially extremely annoying. I hope the sellers don't bear the brunt of the buyers' annoyance, since it's eBay implementing those changes.

Hi Tello,.....a very real observation by that OP...yes really !!!!

During and after the EBS, DDD, LI and CS frauds, we researched Powersellers also...and found EXACTLY the same thing....huge negs, offset by volume and constantly being argued on that basis, i.e. not many negs on volume of sale so it's no big deal.....bullshit....100's of negs are 100's of negs....any time of the day or night, and the smaller sellers we researched had very few negs by comparison......The informal research undertaken, looked at the Top 100 sellers in Australia, and the same scenario was true here, as it obviously is in the US....as follows:

I have been perusing the message boards tonight and stumbled on this thread
Link

It got me to thinking about something....

eBay has been courting these big "Mega Sellers" and making all these policy changes under the auspices of buyer trust and security.

However this situation is a prime example of the damage that some of these "Mega Sellers" are doing to the buying customers.

If you check the stats on any one of the "Big Guys" you will find that they have a large number of negative feedback which is offset by the shear volume of sales every month.

BUT what is the true result of this situation.

Out of hundreds of monthly sales these "Mega Sellers" are racking up the negs.

Now take the little guys that post here regularly and gather enough of them together to equal the volume of monthly sales that just one of the "Mega Sellers" has and then compare the negative feedbacks.

You will see that on a comparison basis just ONE of those "Mega Sellers" is doing far more damage to the eBay image of trust and safety than any dozen small guys put together.

So, tell me, who is TRULY providing the best quality of service and products?

The Volume sellers or the "Mom & Pops"?

Like Der !!!  wouldn't have followed the link otherwise......lol... I luvs fun, but I havs me serious side ya know !!!   Obviously you do too?  (don't worry, I won't tell anyone OK?)

Had to agree with that OP's post because I have the stats to prove that it's the same here...What I can't understand is that it's blatant anti-competitive behaviour towards small businesses and misuse of market power to achieve it.....and yet....the whole world seems powerless to fight it?  Oh come on now....are we that brainwashed into helplessness?....Think about that?...Millions of people Worldwide being treated like second class consumers and herded like sheep........fair enough Australia has a small population and no bill of rights and EVERYONE tries it on here.....but we STILL beat Ebay at their Paypal only Game........you guys have population and civil law on your side in the US...not so here.  Isn't America the land of the free?...lol....then Bring it on....INDEPENDENCE DAY !!!!

Tello, would I get attacked if I posted on that thread?  What are the US boards like?  Killer sharks there too?

Hey Caadlad...wrong thread?...lol...is that a movie quote?..or didn't I get it yet?...lol

AuctionBytes Conducts Survey on eBay's July Announcement
by: noneya
Tue Jul 28 19:31:16 2009
After completing the poll it looks like ebay will not be reinstating two way feedback or any other protections for sellers. It does look like a seller will no longer have to be the second coming in order to qualify for PS status, but that was not the reason I left ebay.
I left because of the New Buyer. The smash and grab rules that are strongly tilted in the buyers favor for any and all transactions paid for via paypal.
As paypal is the only form of payment allowed on Ebay I will not be returning as a seller. It's too abusive.

Does it make sense for someone to talk about their 99 pence wedding dress when in actual fact it cost 86 pounds (including postage & insurance)?

New Store Features Benefit Both Buyers and Sellers on iOffer

Custom Categories, themes, buyer greeting, Google analytics, rating chart and rating map improves online shopping experience.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) August 2, 2009 -- More buyers are searching for better deals online, forcing sellers to find innovative ways to brighten their stores and attract more buyers. New customizable features allow iOffer sellers to uniquely tailor their storefront to offer a welcoming first impression and provide a comprehensive store overview to buyers.

With over 30,000 users online and over 15,000 open negotiations at any given time of the day, sellers are encouraged to remain logged into iOffer. Not only will this give them the opportunity to respond to an offer immediately, but online sellers can personalize an interactive greeting to welcome buyers on the item detail page.

After a warm introduction, buyers can make their way to the seller stores. Stores are customized with an overall theme chosen by the sellers, while items are organized into iOffer's main categories and custom categories. The option to create their own store categories allows sellers to advertise sales and group items into specific brands and models.

Seller stores are also integrated with Google Analytics. Visitor and keyword tracking, along with valuable data on each item helps sellers optimize their stores to gain more buyers and convert more sales.

To ensure buyer safety, a rating chart and rating map provides a visual summary of seller transactions and past rating history, giving buyers more confidence to make informed decisions.

Lastly, buyers can add stores to their favorites list, and subscribe to any store's RSS feed to automatically receive inventory updates. Buyers choose iOffer as their online marketplace of choice, an alternative to ebay, without the tedious wait time of an e-commerce auction or classified site. iOffer is the online shopping destination for electronics, fashion handbags, clothing, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods, fashion purses, and jewelry.

With multiple improvements and new store features, iOffer aims to empower its sellers to take an increased ownership of their stores, providing the best possible image and service to maximize daily sales.
