The Real Reason eBay Is Stuck

EBay is run by smart people who don't use eBay and spend hours debating the data about how other people use eBay," says a former strategist who left a few months ago. "That is the problem. You can't solve your way into the future."

Every move eBay au has made is to protect shill bidding and making them harder to detect.

Why, because we can't have staff ending up in court again, and when you outsource the job, you need to protect them as well, lest they squeal when caught.

I took your advice but PayPal won't budge

Your problem has now made me look more deeply into PayPal which proudly claims it is "a safer, simpler way to send money online". I'm not so sure and I have waded through its lengthy terms and conditions.

Ebay Changes to Help Large Merchants Sell New Products

Ebay will tweak its search algorithm to favor new products, allow sellers to include more and bigger photos in their listings for free, and do away with features that sellers have used to dress up their listings, two people familiar with the e-commerce giant's plans said.

The company will also limit communications between buyers and sellers, a step designed to ease the burden for volume-sellers, they said.

eBay.com announce changes for sellers

http://www.tamebay.com/2009/07/ebay-com-announce-changes-for-sellers.html

No more additional insurance
Sellers will no longer be able to specify an additional optional or compulsory insurance fee for their listings.

So if that is the case, do the sellers just have to absorb the cost? Secondly does this mean that providing proof as a seller to Paypal/Ebay financially lies soley with the seller thus we pay to ensure we can prove to them an item was sent by stealth rather than being able to show the buyers openly?
They said there would be cake....and there WAS!

EU To Adjust Rules Governing Online Sales

However, in a blow to eBay Inc. (EBAY), which has argued that it should be possible to solely sell goods online, the commission said it is reasonable to demand that a distributor should have a "brick and mortar" shop before being able to sell on the Internet.
