Breaking News: Mom makes $379/day Working From Home
http://www.nine-news.net/finance-news/au-breaking-news.php?ex=002c

This is not an eBay scam story but does show how "professional" some of the scammers are. I wonder how many naive dummies have actually responded to such proposals.

Yes Phillip the "katie" story is a well known old scam, and very well set up, hundreds and hundreds of people get ripped off with this one every day, its very clever in the way the Ads are set up and they are spammed far and wide across the internet, you pay your 'setup' fee and thats the last you hear of them.
They said there would be cake....and there WAS!

Online protests could be targeted by fraudsters

http://www.justsearching.co.uk/news/internet-news/online-protests-could-be-targeted-by-fraudsters.html

[...]People engaged in such action often use readymade programs for the attacks, so someone could amend the code so that the user was unwittingly attacking a target of the criminal’s choice.

Jon Reid of Spamhaus, a spam monitoring service that was recently targeted in this way after it blacklisted Wikileaks.info, an unofficial site, said:

“A lot of the guys doing this are 14 year-old nerds. They’ve found this new hammer and they’re out smashing things.”

Mobile sales are helping eBay, but is it enough?

Overall, eBay’s holiday business grew but not as fast as other online retailers. According to ChannelAdvisor, a software company working with online retailers, eBay’s holiday business increased 11% during the busy Thanksgiving weekend, lagging the 68% growth rate for Amazon and the overall e-commerce growth rate of 27%.

How to use eBay auctions to drive traffic to your site

Another interesting article on a well known popular theme at
http://shoping-advices.com/106355/how-to-use-ebay-auctions-to-drive-traffic-to-your-site/

I can agree with everything this commentator says except for the bit about using PayPal. Gee, could this article have been sourced directly from the PayPal section of the eBay Dept of Spin: the PayPal crew could be trying to provision their lifeboats before the old rust bucket “eBay” eventually goes submarine?

eBay/PayPal/Donahoe: Dead Men Walking.

Gee, could this article have been sourced directly from the PayPal section of the eBay Dept of Spin: the PayPal crew could be trying to provision their lifeboats before the old rust bucket “eBay” eventually goes submarine?

His strategy is using ebay to give away information products aka ebooks, which probably cost him 0 cent.

To get or download that free ebook, the prospect has to enter the name and email in an optin form (some people may enter fake information but that is part of the business) (see www.aweber.com for example.) He then will bombard (ahem, I mean follow up closely through auto responder. Again see www.aweber.com to learn how to do this stupid thing effectively) with other paid products (could be his, or other people product.) Never mind if you hate this. As long as 1 out of 1000 subscriber like this idea, he will get paid.

Paypal fit this auto pilot business model perfectly. What else if not paypal?

Btw, paypal subscription billing (recurring payment) is the easiest to manage (for buyer) compared to other online merchant.

Just because you hate paypal doesn't mean paypal is bad for everything.

If you run a zero cost (or very low cost) auto pilot business, why not paypal?

You may not realize people have been talking this strategy long, long time ago when everyone love ebay.

Doesn't matter if one day ebay sink like you have expected, people can still apply this strategy on amazon, google, msn, facebook, twitter, blog and whatnot. It is for creative people who can see things beyond paypal and ebay.

Sorry it is not really about ebay or paypal, it is about human greed and fear.  The keyword here is "FREE" information product. Why information product, because that is the easiest form of selling. I learnt this from Bill Gates.

Actually, his “strategy” is simply a good demonstration of how to divert eBay traffic to a seller’s own web site. What the seller is selling is irrelevant.

It is very relevant because you disagree with paypal. Since he is selling download stuff then paypal is still the best option. What else could you think of, if not paypal?

If he is selling tangible product (and anything not download-able) then yes, I agree paypal is not necessary the only option.

Paypal spin? Come on.

So ebay is dying? Who care? There is youtube, there is facebook, there is google. Good sensible business strategy works on these platform.

So please work hard to make sure ebay die faster. I have been hearing this for years yet ebay is still alive. I am bored.

Another way to look at the possible consequences of Gerry's campaign is that the government might contemplate raising the GST (to 20%, as in the UK) to make it economic for them to collect such GST on a lower value level of imports (say $500). Would that make Gerry happy?

New Laws Govern Guns, Web, Banks
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704735304576058221048255628.html?mod=djemWMP_h

“… California made it illegal to intimidate, threaten or defraud someone using a website.”

The question then is, will this law stop eBay and PayPal from continuing to knowingly facilitate wire fraud on their consumers, or will it be business as usual at (California-based) eBay and PayPal?
