eBay Faces Mutiny Over Shipping Fees

If retailers include shipping expenses with the listing price, they’ll drive up the cost of the sale and end up paying higher fees to eBay; if they offer it free, they take a hit to their already-shrinking bottom line, putting them at a competitive disadvantage.

For PayPal, the Future Is Mobile

PayPal is threatening to overtake eBay’s struggling marketplace ..... users became so dissatisfied with the site’s clutter, its clunky technology and problems with fraud that Mr. Donahoe declared an emergency soon after he took the job and began a turnaround effort. The results have been slow in coming

The NBN, is it worth the cost?

.............. so much of what is good for the economy can be done with basic broadband. Things like email, things like home working, online trading up to and including eBay

Re ROPO... in case anyone's not familiar with this acronym:

[T]housands of consumers now indulge in the practice of ROPO - research offline and purchase online (and overseas).
"No man is an Iland, intire of it selfe; every man is ...a part of the maine; ...any mans death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankinde"

Yep Countess. I do that, check it out in a store here & check out online availability & price, online both here & overseas.

That's how I bought my camera, checked it out here & researched online. Ted's Camera shop here almost matched the online price so, I bought the camera from Ted's. It makes me believe that the shops here could lower their prices to better compete with online prices & still make a profit.

  • from UBB & yib thank you
While not a ROPE buyer my internet sales are drying up and my internet non Australian purchases is increasing.

Last group camera updates all OS internet. Before usually body OZ and rest OS As the few dollars difference worth the extra for local body warranty. This time $2200 local or $1300 each unit from OS including all post chargers ect. 10% GST is not the problem. The problem is greedy local distrbuters not retailers, and currency movements not able to be passed on quickly.

This occurs as all importers hedge againsty currence movements this means they can keep the local price not matter what happens with exchange rates. This usually is a good thing for every one stable prices .

HOWEVER when as happened to OZ USA rates over last 6 months from under 80 cents to over 100 cents. It changes everything. that over 20% change for retail customers means hedged imports now ridiculously expensive. Hedged means price fixed.

These situations have occured before and will occur again. I do think the $1000 no GST limit is too high as more people use internet shop that is $100 in taxs the schools, hospitals, pensions and defence losses. Let alone the lost jobs and more lost taxes.

“President, CEO & Director of eBay Inc. (EBAY) John J Donahoe sells 216,667 shares of EBAY on 11/24/2010 at an average price of $30.90 a share.”

http://www.gurufocus.com/news.php?id=115547

The eBafia Don (the Chief Headless Turkey at eBay), has just sold possibly all of his remaining eBay stock; he has upped his selling from 16,667 shares each month since June, to this sale of 216,667 shares; obviously, the unbelievable current $31 stock price was just too good to pass up!

But, all you loyal eBay lobbyists, hang onto your eBay shares a bit longer, clearly, by your logic and Donahoe’s continuing selling, we can clearly see that eBay stock is going to hit $60 again real soon …

eBay/PayPal/Donahoe: Dead Men Walking
“Today we’re dealing with phase two or phase three [he can’t even remember which one] of disruptive innovation. We’ve had the disruption, now we must disrupt our own disruption.”—John Donahoe (2007).
