Another FAILED eBay purchase
« on: September 08, 2011, 11:13:28 AM »
I think I made mention of this before, but...screw it!
Here goes again:

Using my friend's eBay & PP accounts, I bought a DVD/VHS Combo Player from an eBay seller in Los Angeles, on August 15.

It arrived in good time.
The DVD player FAILED.
I emailed the seller and included piccys of my monitor [Pic 1].

I got a Return Shipping Label and got a replacement, which arrived yesterday.

The trap door on the tape player was busted off and rattling around inside [Pic 2].

Sent another email same day; no response. I gotta call the fools.
Ship it back, get a refund.

I found other similar units on the Net for a better price and with positive user comments/reviews.

I'm going for it.

The main problem with these last 2 units is IMPROPER PACKING.

So remember: Tell your seller to PUMP UP THE BUBBLE WRAP!!!

And keep a spare player in the house....

Look, I know that this is a
heated controversial topic, but please...

Don't you all post at once!

You would probably be better off buying this sort of item from a real shop, Tello. You'd have the security of knowing there were no broken thingamyjigs.

At least you got your refund - that's a plus.

The seller IS a B&M shop. Just not too bright about packing electronics too well....

I'm going to Sears!

UPDATE:

Butt-Head Seller Alert!!!

The buggah won't answer my last 2 emails requesting
an emailed Return Shipping Label and a Refund.

Where do I go from here?

No, really. It's a legit question.

How do I do this?

Is that how it's been arranged and agreed, that he sends you a return shipping label and refund?

Usually you would not receive a refund until the item is returned.

I'm not sure about the US, but in Australia we are required to post items back by a trackable method, and the seller is not obliged to pay for or to refund the cost of return postage. It's often said that good sellers will.

Have you tried phoning the company?

Keep an eye on the date when you made the purchase. You've got 45 days from the date of purchase to open a PayPal dispute, and if necessary, to raise that dispute to a claim.

But if the seller's a registered business and has been fair with you so far, I wouldn't imagine you'd need to go through that PayPal dispute route.

Thx Tessa.

I did this once; got a pre-paid UPS shipping label via email and it was cool until I got the 2nd bonky unit.

I'll be calling Mr. Yaghoobian tomorrow....
