PayPal loses top payment exec to Google

http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-20029723-93.html

Quote
PayPal's Osama Bedier has resigned after eight years at the eBay-owned company and will take a job across town at Google.

In a blog post, Scott Guilfoyle, PayPal's CTO, made the announcement and introduced the new head of the platform team, Matthew Mengerink.

But the departure of Bedier to Google is a big blow to PayPal, considering that both companies are racing to build next-generation payment platforms with a strong mobile component.

Bedier held the title of VP of platform and oversaw PayPal's global payments platform, including mobile.

Mengerink is an internal replacement for the position, having worked at PayPal for 10 years. He previously led the PayPal architecture, infrastructure, payments development, core technologies, international development, customer quality and engineering services teams.

I will update when I hear more on what Bedier will be doing at Google.

“EBay Is Revamping Its Marketplace With The Help Of Triad Retail Media”

http://ewireinformer.com/ebay-is-revamping-its-marketplace-with-the-help-of-triad-retail-media-341501.html

“eBay Inc., within the past year, has been discreetly removing approximately 90% of the advertisements that had occupied the site. Their reasoning for this, according to Christopher Payne, who is in charge of the North American eBay operations, is because the ads were detrimental to the experience of buying and selling. He continued that these ads were largely irrelevant to users because most of them took consumers off-site.”

And as a commenter on auctionbytes.com has already noted: “It takes an MBA to reach a conclusion like this?”

No wonder this organization is going down the toilet. I’m still trying to figure out how these headless eBay turkeys find their way home every night (or do they all sleep on the floor of their cubicles?). There certainly is no logic involved in any of their decision-making processes; could it be something they learnt by rote at Bain & Co?

You too: you who are so obviously a perfect specimen.

What is it about my posts that you principally do not like? Is it my expose of the ongoing rampant shill bidding by unscrupulous sellers on eBay? Do I make your life as a seller on eBay more difficult? What is it?
