Smee it's okay - emergency sort of over - I could probably knit them myself before you even started ;)

Thank-you for the offer though - really appreciated - what I failed to mention was that as at Wednesday (yesterday) I had a bone scan because I've had trouble with pain in 'my good leg'

Anyone familiar with bone scans - they nuke you, then scan you - send you away to come back 3 hours later and scane you again.

The second scan showed BOTH ankles riddled with arthritis - the film was BLACK :( - not a good sign

But off-topic - because of problems with the 'bad' leg - I can;t wear restricting socks and I like soft things *a girly thing* and the socks I have been wearing (with the fold down top) seem to offer more protection to bumps and scrapes AND stop my bad leg hurting and now hopefully will  help with the constant pain

THANKS EVERYONE - YOU ARE LIFESAVERS

Tessa that is beautiful,  ( being the stationery nerd that I am!)
I bought a writing case from the UK  a few years back, my brother was looking for one for his son, it still had the birthday note in it from the Aunty!! it was lovely.

  So..............did you bid on it?

There are nine days to go on it, Westie - and a high starting bid. If I am to have even a chance of snaffling it, I will have to be patient and snipe - but it could go for higher than I can afford, even if I pounce at the last second.

Ah ... poor Countessa.

She will be spending the next nine days mulling over her maximum bid, doubting herself when a number is chosen, rethinking her logic and watching the intervening bids more nervously than a NASA scientist following the descent of the Martian rover....

"My" Georgian writing slope has 2 bids on it already (more than 6 days yet to go). The current bid is £310.00.

May the fingers of all current and all other potential bidders (save me) be rotted and unable to press the "Place bid" button. They can have their fingers back after I win this.

I just have a horrible feeling the serious bidders will be lurking and waiting. Grrrrrr... I want this! Can we organise a task force to find all other potential bidders and lock them up for a while?

I suppose you might try putting up a web page with enough keywords to sit high on the searches for that type of item, then capture all the IP addresses, resolve to physical addresses and send out the knights to 'impede' bidding activity....

or perhaps a DOS attack on those IP addresses...

or how about we organise for the eBay servers to go down for a few days - immediately after you place your 'winning' bid...

Prayer might be a less prosecutable alternative, though.

...You might also want to offer a prayer that someone else interested in this item hasn't spotted this thread....

If they have deeper pockets, they might just up their maximum...!

I will have to trust that I'm the only writing slope collector here...!

And yes, prayer is a good idea.

Our Father,
Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name
My bidding come
My writing slope be won
On eBay as it is in my mind...

Please, God...? Pleeeease?

Yes, indeedy ... by at least one more bid.  But the question is - what is the leading bidder's bid?

Well, if I were into bad bidding habits, I could bid an insanely high price, expose the top bid, and then retract.

I'm not a naughty bidder, so I won't do it.

Wanted ....... 18ct or 24ct  gold mens chain .... I dont know maybe 55-60cm in length

I recently sold an 18ct one that had shrunk just like all my shirts have , and got sod all for it in comparison to what these thieving Sebastians that own jewellry shops now want ...sure I expected to get sodomised on the price but these bastodians want a kidney for a 9ct chain weighing 15 grams and trying to find 18ct at any price is near on impossible.... so talk to me ...hussle me ....Ive got at least 15 pennies
