eBay Australia Cuts Time You Can Lodge A Dispute
« on: May 04, 2009, 06:23:20 PM »
From the end of May, eBay Australia is trimming the time you have to complain if goods don’t match their description from 60 days to 45 days.

Granted, if you did receive goods that didn’t match what you’d seen described online, you probably shouldn’t wait two months to make a complaint. Nonetheless, it still seems a less-than-generous move, especially given that you have to wait 10 days to lodge a complaint anyway.

I must be a bit silly, I thought it was already 45 days.

Hello Tilly and ewok, there is also another thread about this topic

http://www.ozroundtable.com/index.php?topic=305.0

The time limit is currently 60 days (45 days for paypal)

Opening a case
Timeline:   10 to 60 days from when you paid for your item.

they're just bringing ebay in line with PayPal, which is a good thing I reckon.

Here's the official eBay announcement link

yes I agree, wheels, it was good of eBay to finally match up the times. It was just so silly having different time periods between PayPal and eBay to lodge a dispute.

Ah, ok, well that makes perfect sense to me, seems silly to have one at 60 days when the PP cut off is 45 days, most people pay with paypal anyway.

Tilly, have you seen the new Resolution Process where eBay makes the decision about whether your buyer is to be refunded when they make a claim?

<edit> This hasn't been announced for the AU site, but I'm guessing with the other changes it will be here soon.

Can't say I have wheels, I have never had a buyer put in a claim before so don't even know how the old system worked.

I have just had a read of it.

Looks great. Anything that installs more faith with the buyer and attract buyers is a good thing to me, I guess its a bit like the old buyer protection.

So this would cover bank deposit and other payment methods too?

Buyers just have to do what one buyer did last week - put in a SNAD claim for some bits missing from a factory sealed kit.

Seller got it from a B&M close-down in the USA and will have to contact the manufacturer - in the USA.

Hope the buyer understands it won't be resolved in a couple of days.

(The SNAD claim was how they informed the seller)
