Author Topic: False reporting and harresment continues even after leaving eBay  (Read 36552 times)

Even after a small group of posters on the Ebay AU forums succeeded in harassing a large number of posters off the AU boards with a campaign of making false report to have posters posts removed and finally getting them suspended.

This group setup this board to get away from such harassment and in my opinion luck of due care by eBay.

Yet the harassment continues by these very same people, they are not satisfied to have driven this group away from eBay they are now carrying on their campaign of harassment by making false and malicious reports to Microsoft.

Here is the response from Microsoft about these reports.

Microsoft has responded to say that this is an incorrect designation and within 24 hours it will no longer appear. It appears that malicious false reports by a number of people - whose IPs Microsoft have logged - resulted in this false designation. Microsoft confirms the site and the thread in question has nothing to do with phishing.

that "malicious reports" by a number of people were made, and that Microsoft don't appreciate people wasting their time with false reports when there are sites that ARE a worry. What a waste of Microsoft's resources.

A message to the person that wishes to control the eBay boards, Be warned this is not the only site that offers help and believe me the other place will slap you so hard you will forget who you are.

I'm surprised Microsoft responded (dubious actually). The normal response to a phishing query is an automated popup that says Yes or No.

Check for yourself, IE7 users. Load any page in this site, then go to tools - Phishing Filter - check this website.

I'd love to see a forwarded copy of the Microsoft email.

Hello Karen, good to see you still around!

I think it depends on if you are putting a general enquiry through, or one from the site owner. I have in the past, and just today, contacted Microsoft about problems associated with my website and got pretty speedy responses. Todays was really fast!

Karen, do you think I'm a person of integrity?

I have personally been in touch with Microsoft, and I have seen the reply as well as been apprised of other communications by phone. The admin were concerned about this site attracting some of the sort of attention it has, and took steps to get in touch with Microsoft as a matter of urgency.

If you doubt my word, of course you're free to do so. It's obvious none of the admin can possibly forward you any of the emails.

Yes Col I can see that they would respond to web site admin far quicker than ordinary web users.

The real proof will be that the false warning disapear over night.

It was clear to any one that had half an idea that the warning was not related to what was occuring.

I don't think Microsoft would take too kindly to malicious reporting like that. The phisihng filter is there for good and genuine reasons. Misuse won't be tolerated - I think.

Karen,

I'm surprised Microsoft responded (dubious actually).

I too called Microsoft when it was brought to my attention.

After having identified myself and expressing my concerns I was directed to a supervisor who then checked the status of this site and gave me an assurance that it was not on their list of phishing sites.

I was then given the contact details of Microsoft's head office in the United States who I will be calling when they open in the morning.

My aim is to get from them the recorded IP addresses from where the complaints were received

Holydooly, Can you really imagine a 'solicitor' allowing anyone to use their computer? If they did, that solicitor would be just as much an idiot as any client who asked.

Why would any sneak want to 'sneak' in here where everyone is welcome with open arms. If they choose to come, look and go, that is their prerogative, but they are, regardless of ID, able to come.

Its not the first and I also dont think it will be the last either, a number of the actions that have taken place since Saturday are criminal and the powers to be are already involved.

they are pi**ed because they didn't see this site coming.

Why on earth would people bother to do things like that?
Sheesh- they got their way and had the ebay boards (boreds?) sanitised to the point of utter sterility - and now want to come and neutralise our new playground!

Good Grief.

A little in the bad taste department there :(

I really don;t think that we need to see that image repeated :(

Please keep that in mind and also on 'that' topic - sometimes to ignore something makes it go away - perhaps we should put all the offenders in the naughty corner and ignore them - they might actually get the hint

People,

The situation has been rectified and it is pointless to discuss it any further. There is no benefit in further discussion of this subject

You have all had your say on the matter, I am asking that this subject be now closed, that is a request.
Any further discussion in a negative sense will cause the locking of this thread
