Or, when the situation deteriorates, one can "Throw a Flag on the play."

someone asked me the same question , I wasnt sure but offered a guess and was fairly spot on .... is the flag thrower always right in his justification of the throwing of the flag or does it go to a third umpire/ref to watch a slow mo reply for final analysis of alleged offence ?

That's right. Some games have been delayed up to 10 minnits while the refs (referees) mull over the slo mo replay.

More than once in American Football History, the Game Officials ruled a bad call, threw the game and sparked controversy and riots.

Umpires are in Baseball, behind the catcher.

First-base Umpire.

No Logsie .....just late droppping in to the computer...lol but it is Sat morning here so those that live and work in cities and towns etc will be shopping, taking kids to sports...all that.
Where I live one day is exactly the same as the other.
Hope all is well in the mother land. Have a good little mate coming out in a couple of months, they are from the lakes district, she has been here before but not the boyfriend, I think he is in for a rude shock.
