Title: Aust. Post Online Survey Link, re: proposed new postage methods etc

Please move as appropriate (I didn't know where else to put it)

Australia Post has an online survey running at present.  It's mentioned and linked here:

I've passed that link on to a few concerned businesses. Thanks, Frangi - they're VERY concerned.

I did the survey but I don't think they would have liked my anti eBay/Paypal monopoly answers. I think this is a bigger worry than some realise and I am surprised at the lack of discussion it has had. It has been posted on au but not much reaction.

I find it strange that more businesses aren't even aware of that survey.

One questions the validity of a survey which doesn't even seem to be seeking replies.

I found that survey very frustrating. I was only at question 2 when they booted me out.

Because I have an Australian Post account they don't want to hear from me.

Did it ask much about international postage?

These are two of the questions I saved

What do you think are the most attractive features of the new service?

What do you think are the least attractive features of the new service?

they were about about half way through the survey and after they indicated that...

Australia Post will combine with Paypal. Sellers will pay postage through paypal and self print out a connected post slip for the parcel. This will have attract an extra fee. Registered post for eBay parcels WILL require the extra step of the parcel being signed for. This will attract an extra cost of (I think) $1.65.

They are expecting to supply specialised boxes which are prepaid and, like satchels, will hold extra kilos than the norm but the largest will cost over $20 and I did not think it was economical.

They also suggested that those using this system would have a special line at the post office (preferential treatment which is a bait line).

I informed them my post office had one employee and only room for one line so that would not benefit me or any of the other customers of that particular post office.

Frangi, your post made me laugh. But it is true, they think we are all stupid.

We have learned very well how to pick up insulting manipulation by being memebers of eBay.

That's interesting that the questions etc. changed depending on your answers. I didn't get the bit about combining with Paypal.  I feel really, really uncomfortable able about that happening  :(
