We noticed that you have been less active on eBay recently. You are important to us and we would like to know what we can do to improve your experiences on eBay.

Dear eBay,
If you were prepared to wind back your policies about 3 years and the ACTUALLY listen to what some of your excellent ex-members have been trying to say to you over that period of time there may be a slight chance that you can win back some of my business.
I somehow do not think that you would be prepared to do that, admitting your bad judgement has never been one of your attributes and I do not think that this survey will change that.
I somehow think this survey is more of an attempt to show that you are hurting and to act as a reminder to some of your ex-members that you still exist.
On many many occasions you have had feedback which has been ignored.
I suggest that if you are genuine in your intrest to improve the opinion of what your ex-members hold of you, start by implementing some of the past suggestions given to you by your loyal members instead of doing surveys.

Poddy, I feel the deep sting of envy now.
They haven't sent ME any "eBay misses you" emails.
Mind you, I have been buying... but if you were to compare what I bought through eBay with what I have been buying through other online venues, the amount is enormous. I don't just buy for myself - I buy for a whole host of people who would otherwise have no way of purchasing online.
Please, eBay, gratify my sense of being valuable to you and tell me you miss me!

eBay still refuses to lift that nasty sanction I got 6 months ago while posting to the US boards.
When it comes to the important topics, eBay uses the deaf, dumb and blind trick.

ha sounds like my place tello but yours is more interesting, mine is books, some of those early american indian statues and things are worth a fortune these days, a first edition book went here of buffalo bill's from 1888 this week very cheaply, love all that stuff, was going to bid but no room in house was worth US$1,500 in theory but who knows

So to get back on topic (I know - why bother :) )..
The survey was interesting.
What I *did* like was that in all the "what do you dislike?" sections they pretty much nailed the options such as chinese sellers, postage piracy, changes to feedback rules etc.
So while whether they actually do anything is another matter, I did feel that they understand the issues that make eBay 'less fun' and drive reduced seller or buyer activity and this survey should put them in a position them of knowing what they need to actually do over the next 12 months.
Main contentious issue in there was an option to freeze payments to a seller until feedback (or some other method) is received from the buyer that the item was received as described and in good condition.

The other interesting option was they would verify all sellers [as in do it properly - not the current basis].
Both those options were in the "think from a buying perspective" to work out what was reducing your buying activity or what would it take to increase your buying activity.

Well I don't think there is such an issue with verifying sellers, but I think buyers should also be verifyed by the same method. Why differentiate?
I think if they introduced the suggested freeze payment options, most sellers would walk away. Of course this would work best if everyone paid by Paypal. Ebay isn't able to hold bank transfers.
It's very interesting that they seem to know the issues pertaining to chinese sellers, postage piracy, changes to feedback rules. I wonder if they intend to listen to the feedback? I hope so. :)

I should clarify that the words "chinese sellers" were not specifically used. The issue/s that describe that sort of stereotypical seller [low price, high postage, longer postage times, no local warranty and near impossible to return/replace faulty goods] was/were clearly noted as issues impacting people selling and buying [separately].

I also wish they'd so something about spam sellers....jeese...you search for something and have to go through hundreds of identical listings cramming up each category....can't they list a few and put the rest in a shop? tedious, boring, annoying.....obviously designed to cram and spam listing categories...makes browsing painful.

So something like a search option to click on where the search only returns the first X items of a sellers identical nventory in that category.

I must say that eBay must REALLY want to hear more of my opinion.
I have just got another email inviting me to comment, they must value what I have said highly.
I must think about what other suggestions I should send, the first thing I thought of involved a chicken, some barbed wire, Viagra and the eBay board of directors.
And of course some inventive imagination

Nothing happened of course, and the post remains.
