Title: Coinees need another home - can we post here?
Post by: mandurahmum on October 06, 2009, 11:06:55 PM
Hi,  I am a coin collector and we need a new place for our discussion boards.  We used to post on Ebay but since they joined the board with Collectables, we are getting reported left right and centre - We never had that problem before.

The Oztion boards, well there are some troublemakers there too.

We like to have threads about Scammers, Fake items and Coins/Notes that have been cleaned/iron or tampered with and  Shill Bidding.  These are a huge problem in our small community.

We are interesting people, really, we are not the boring ones you think of when you hear Coin Collector.  Honestly.

Could we do that here, on these boards.  Would we be welcome?

Thanks  Jane

Mandurahmum, perhaps you could PM me or any of the admin team with new IDs...? It will let us fast-track the sorting-out process, which normally takes a bit of time since bot registration can slow it down.

mandurahmum, if you can handle these posts, then you and your fellow coinees should find a welcoming air when posting here.

We have a range of interesting people already here too - and sometimes even they can be funny.

Some of your topics are common issues (in the general sense) such as fakes and shill bidding, so there will be interest from other members and discussion on these common issues.

I can see a benefit for everyone with contributions from a broader range of expertise, so please join the party!

Sorry I'm late to crash this Party.

I have been bizzy with my Crew, talking about cleaning guns, and Praising God at the same time and not getting busted by the same cast and crew in the Hit Movie "Invasion of The Body Snatchers", starring that Kevin McCarthy dude.

Sorry.
I'm geographically closer to California than any of you Islanders.

And "It sucks!".

Welcome to mandurahmum, Touch_it_you_die and Misha.

Always room for more and it is good to have some wider experience in our midst.

It's nice to see some familiar names, too.  I don't know if you remember, mandurahmum, but we both posted on an eBay thread or two ages ago.  It's been so long I couldn't for the life of me what the subject was, but seeing your ID come up brought back a positive memory, which is always nice.

I hope you and the other coinees enjoy the OZRT!

A big  :welcome!: to all our minty friends! ;D

Hiya Mandie Mum! :welcomedesk:

Make yourselves at home....and feel free to post any emoticons that you would like to add to our collection here.

Our coin set is sadly lacking....I could only find this one.... :2cents:..lol

The Countess will be happy to add them for you.

You can also discuss other auction sites.....so it doesn't have to be all Ebay related either.

Misha, No cant see your email address.  I am about to get booted from ebay too, and I dont care.  I am so annoyed with that mob at the moment - all I do is point out any scammers or shill bidders and I got done for Hate speech - well I do hate them but I have never used hate speech and to be accused of such is disgusting.

Ebay should be thanking us for bringing the matters to their attention, after all its their reputation that we are trying to protect, but it seems that they want to be the home for scams at the moment.

I hope that they notice a exodus from their boards,  They have not treated us fairly and it seems that they want us all to go away.

I have not been in trouble at oztion yet, but I just posted a reference to this place, so I am sure I will be in trouble soon there too.

I hope that they notice a exodus from their boards,  They have not treated us fairly and it seems that they want us all to go away.

They don't like anything on their boards that can remotely give the impression that Ebay isn't safe, or their spin would be shot down in flames.  They learned how that worked in the rebellion period and that's why the RT was put to death....so members could never again mount a protest against them...

Eversince.....'Ebay News, buyers/sellers and Hot Topics' boards are separate and for members only.  So anything to do with being pissed off with ebay is kept silent, and punished severely.  In Ebay cyberspace, nobody hears you scream.

There is no fraud or fakes on Ebay remember?..Ebay is safe, didn't you know that?...they have the most sophisticated way's of ensuring consumers are safe....they ignore it.

People don't want to be treated like cattle I'm afraid, and that seems to be the mentality of Ebay 2009.  I was a seller for 7 years until the changes, and then it became so pushy and stressful, who needs it....seems to me it's been a cattle drive ever since, with each 'Innovative Disruption'...

....but they have no power here, and they can't silence anyone on this site.....

In fact, all they can do is read it and weep !!!   :neener:

Always Remember grasshopper.....

Yes yoda... that is the way they make it.
I believe it's poor policy, for everyone... users, the market for the items and eBay due to user confidence in the process.

But they couldn't silence me on the US Group Boards. I post there in a subject specific forum.

So this is 'coin specific' discussion... right?
The guys on CFeBay were NOT impressed with the reports I was giving them during the week before and after format regime change to the boards.

I still maintain I have the first pink slap issued for expressing dissent and I did warn that I would be the one that came back and said 'told you so' in what I'd predicted would follow especially regarding the coin board.   Regime change please. New ID please.

It's a pity that mob rule is seemingly the order of the day on OZoo re 'Moderation'.
Does anyone know if:

1) Moderation Authority has be delegated to some posting members on OZtion dis boards to act as moderators.  The leading statement was made by a very rational member there on a contentious thread a few days ago.  I agree with the view of very unprofessional approach to administration if thats the case.

2) Do OZtion staff have conditions of employment that limit posting on boards without disclosure of that pecuniary interest ?
2b) What is eBay policy in re staff posting in forums without disclosure.

Hi Misha, I'm not overly impressed with Oztion's management...they seem like novices.....Long story, but they're not impressive..... the boards over there are just not worth posting on...I've been a member on oztion since it started, and it just seems like a 'mini me' of Ebay that doesn't quite cut it....

They haven't got a clue about taking advantage of negative market sentiment to advertise and capitalise....Ebay has handed then numerous opportunities to step into the void with their unconscionable conduct, but Oztion is too busy being the void to climb out, act like real entrepreneurs and provide real competition for Ebay......just saying...pretty shabby.

I guess you will discover how I can be rather frank and have a somewhat off beat sense of humor, BUT the argument is with the issue... not the person with me... and I don't take abuse very well at all.

I can still post my words on OZoo and eBay if I wanted... I have today.
It's just ridiculous the manner in which I have to do that AND how the forum demigods work, but with my experience in politics, I do understand that a bureaucrat never seeks to create work for themselves or their superior in the pecking order of things.
I think this explains lots of the unfair dismissals from boards.

misha play with the settings...you can configure the board how you like....

do you mean the settings on this word processor, the site page... or the backdoor loophole to enter the category specific boards on eBay?

The 'ridiculous effort' part is having to draft in format a reply for a friend to post.... or a editable 'blackboard' on my photo bucket account.

Yeah.... I've yet to learn 'features and creatures' here.
Please be nice.  Other people have their opinions about me.
Perhaps others will speak of the loss to the coin boards after I've been exiled.
I don't ask for the opinion like that, only care about the myth being corrected and moving on with the coins.  Lets make sure thats not based on fallacy and distortion of events in the past.

So... from post #103

Any idea's or care to speculate?  In an eBay context too.

1. It sounds like a potential problem.

2. I couldn't say. I'm not an Oztion member... but if moderators are making decisions that affect the livelihood of certain posters, it certainly seems incumbent on those moderators to disclose any pecuniary interest.

3. eBay staff are always supposed to reveal that they are eBay staff; there have been a few scandals re this issue.

Misha , have no idea about oztion boards never visited that little den of iniquity..

not so sure about ebay delegating moderation authority to posting members.....
I believe some posters just self appoint themselves to position of forum police ... its an ego thing I think ...... normally very weak people full of their own importance , who failed to get gainful employment in their desired field of authority .... a bit like the glorified trolley collectors they have at shopping centres that prance around in their pretend security uniforms with 3000 keys hanging off their belts and torches and two ways and anything else they can think of to hang off any available space off their belts to make them look more authorative

How are you Misha, and welcome.

Moderation Authority has be delegated to some posting members on OZtion dis boards to act as moderators.

I do remember reading something to that effect. I understand that a 'mob mentality' exists of their forums.

Kaos (Tello) mentioned that we trash Ebay here...... well, not really - but we do have the ability on this forum to raise sometimes negative opinions of events that have taken place there, without the risk of the common slap.

Also, the admins here do participate in discussion - the same as any other member. As it should be!
Title: Re: Coinees need another home - can we post here?

I'm over on Oztion Misha.....but rarely frequent the boards there.

I have only needed to contact Admin there once...and found them to be helpful.  It was a while ago though...so things may have changed in that regard.

From what I have read on the boards when I have been there, it seems that some feel that there is a group that likes to rule the roost there.

I doubt that any of the talk about them being connected to Admin has much truth in it though...but a lot of them may just like to make people believe they have connections...pretty much the way some do on Ebay too...lol

It would be interesting to find out if Oztion does have a rule about their staff identifying themselves when they use that site though...as you would think that a few of them may very well be sellers there.  Admin usually does announce itself on the board...pretty much like the Ebay pinks do.

I think it would be very fool hardy for them not to be open about showing their admin status...as they would have a lot to lose if some disgruntled ex employee decided to spill the beans at some stage.

Hey thanks everyone for the welcome and thoughts on the questions.

Like some things, they don't go through your mind until there is a personal impact.
Thats not to say I don't care about others, after all, what I like the idea of is helping prevent fraud in the field.

Anyhow... till tomorrow and others turn up on this...   night all from WA.

BEHOLD - *assumes a godlike voice*

And on the day in which the children of the coins did come unto OzRT, they waxed strong and did set aside a tithe of their body bags as a sacrifice unto the angry god Cointumacious. And then cried out the children of the drums, saying, "Wherefore, lord, hast thou not cast this froward people into the pit?"
Then spake the forum god, saying, "Doth the fig tree bear Pluto Pups in winter? Or doth the leviathan floss its teeth with the elastic of worn-out underwear?"
The children of the drum replied, saying, "Nay."
Then answered the forum god, "So too is it with the coinees. Now go forth and pray."
And the children of the drum were chastened and did go forth to their salsa cymbals and kneel in the outer courts.

Yes!

http://www.midnightoil.com/ (http://www.midnightoil.com/)

I also know "Men At Work".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Men_at_Work (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Men_at_Work)

It was in the late 1980's, Topanga Canyon, California. I was "The Canyon's Reputable Hired-Hand Since 1984".
I advertised in the local Rag (http://www.topangamessenger.com/ (http://www.topangamessenger.com/)).

I got a call; go there. It's the guy who owns the only large timbers and GLASS house & he wants his 80'+ tall trees trimmed.

I told him to send in the Professionals, and invited him to catch my Stand-Up Comedy act at the Topanga Bar and Grill every Wednesday night.

He did.
He was Colin Hay, (http://www.colinhay.com/ (http://www.colinhay.com/)), my #1 fan; was there every week to to see me.

So...that happened.
