roo my son has been working in security across the boarder - this arvo he was relaying 2 stories of two blokes who got in a brawl at the local - both were found in the river the following day! (about 6 mths apart). rough pub! the (indoors!) band uses a security fence!!
so, not everyone shakes hands!!

Let me know where this pub is and I'll keep Tello away from it.

They found the bodies 6 months apart?   Lucky the crocs didn't get the second one then...lol

If Tello had rabies, I don't think it would matter what state he was in...

roo
it was all in the news as well
I just didn't know the pub connection
both totally separate incidences - different people involved (except that they were all locals) - but both just brawls that got out of hand - happens
no crocs around here
just the trendy shoes that all the nurses wear!

funny
my father was a crocodile hunter - solomn islands - many many moons ago
I have some fantastic shots of him the canoe but my scanner isn't working or i'd pop one up here
my recollections were that with a really good croc he could big quids fo rthe skins

smee that's horrible
my dad did catch a very big one (salty) that had taken a child from a family who were caught on an island in storms - they slept on the beach with the child between them - damn croc slithered up and slipped away with the toddler
when dad & his workmen caught it - he had to cut it up into little pieces as the islanders believed the intact croc spirit would continue to kill - so mr croc was chopped up and scattered into the bushes before sunset
mum relayed the story that dad was very upset as that croc's hide was worth about over 50 quid! (he was satisfied with catching and killing the creature, thus stopping it from killing again)
I hate those croc shots -they have been getting around for years
I'd meet hunters up north who were there for the fly in, fly out, killling holidays and they always had those sorts of photos on them - yeeeich

you're cheeky

ps love the roo
did catch it - guess it's  the crocodile hunter genes in me!!
athough - my dad did shoot them - not catch them - they are like sharks - pretty damn hard to wrestle in a two man boat!!!

I can't believe that croc picture is still there!
now that's one that should be moderated
awful

nah, my father was just ran a cocoa plantation and the crocs in the huge swamp were a problem i.e. they ate and frightened the bejezuz out of people and times have changed with conservation, so (according to my mother) dad being a crack shot, they set about culling the croc population (as humanly as possible ie single shot) The spin off was that in the 50's croc hide was very valuable so they were then able to sell the hide and bring some extra revenue into the community.
The boats were the traditional boats - long slim and perfect for sliding quietly through the water at night (that's when you hunt a croc)
Now a days they would just catch the crocs and move (sell?) them to a tourist/sanctuary or such.
My father was no 'crocodile hunter' like Steve Irwin and I couldn't image that he ever wrestled a croc! Probably ran like hell from them at times though!!

Don't know if you have ever been in a boat with a shark thrashing around but no matter how big the boat is - you can't do much with a shark that is out of water and 'not happy janet'!

There comes a time when 'using bait', and 'being bait' has its defining moments....
