Second ash cloud threatens Australia

http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/8260507/second-ash-cloud-threatens-australia

A second volcanic ash cloud could drift across south eastern Australia within the next two days, with the potential to cause further disruptions to airline schedules.

Check out the graphic on this site which shows the path of the cloud as it travelled east from Chile

Yes, I've seen the trouble this is causing.

The earth doesn't seem to be behaving well of late; there are more tremors in NZ at present, which must be extremely frightening for the people there.

I am sorry for those who've had their flights delayed or temporarily cancelled, but it clearly can't be helped at this time.

Flights will be disrupted again after an ash cloud from a Chilean volcano makes another circuit around the earth

http://www.news.com.au/travel/news/flights-will-be-disrupted-again-after-an-ash-cloud-from-a-chilean-volcano-makes-another-circuit-around-the-earth/story-e6frfq80-1226078638186

VIRGIN Australia has cancelled flights to Mildura and Adelaide tomorrow, due to a second circuit of the Chilean volcano ash cloud.

It is possible other flights in Australia will be disrupted again as the leading edge of a volcanic ash cloud that caused six days of air travel havoc returns.

Qantas said yesterday it expects to operate as usual.

The head of the Bureau of Meteorology's Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre in Darwin, Andrew Tupper, says the main eruption cloud from a Chilean volcano is coming around on a second circuit.

The initial explosive eruption cloud that went mostly over New Zealand last week is now two-weeks old and ash at lower levels is dissipating.

But it is 2000km south of Western Australia and expected to move northeast, crossing South Australia and the southern New South Wales coast tomorrow.

New ash cloud chaos grounds domestic flights

A larger ash cloud from the Chilean volcano could disrupt travel at Australia's major airports for two days, affecting hundreds of thousands of passengers.

All major airlines today cancelled flights en masse as the ash cloud made its second pass into Australian airspace.

Virgin Australia cancelled 170 domestic flights, while Qantas cancelled more than 200 flights this afternoon and expected at least that number again on Wednesday.

Aviation Minister Anthony Albanese says airports in Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Adelaide could be shut for up to 48 hours.
