can we have a wager on how many times during the election coverage they say

"ok let's have a look at Dawson (for example)"

"oh I can see a definite swing there" .......... with only 0.3% of votes counted

then the other guy says, "but it's way to early to call"

We could start the cutting now, I am of the opinion that the results are already known in some circles only we have not been told yet.

We have to go through the motions of believing the we, the people, are part of thge decision making process.

Who then is our Prime Minister?
what is the overall result?
Can I do a Mark Latham & put in a blank form?
How much should I bet &  what odds will I get?
Need to know tonight for better odds

We can all make some good money here, you got your house on it Poddy?

I think we can assume Robertson is gone to the blue side

if you drive around the district you would not know there's an election on

I've seen maybe 2 posters for the labor candidate and none for the liberal guy

it was won by 184 votes last time and is usually a liberal seat ... and Belinda 'don't you know who I am' Neal did a great job in losing ground for labor

Ela thems thar are burning and incisive questions.

Who then is our Prime Minister?
At the moment Foolya Julia is the Prim Monster, who it will be come Sunday is a closely guarded secret.

what is the overall result?
Pollies win people lose

Can I do a Mark Latham & put in a blank form?
It does not matter one way or another, going to the polling booth is just a ritual.

How much should I bet &  what odds will I get?
Well you can bet your gonads or bippies depending which you have, that is if you still have any.
The odds are that what ever you bet on you will lose, as we all will.

Need to know tonight for better odds
The odds never change 0:1 their favour

Well... I've got a couple of drums for the 'bits' - a large one and a small one - plus a red label and a blue label.

Which label do I put on which drum?

Nope, that won't happen the various bits will gravitate to either the left or the right and never the twain shall meet. There is also the force of mutual repulsion between the various bits.

Hower there may be some small green bits that are parasitic and will adher to the surfase of either the left side or the right side in a attempt to control which ever side they stick to at the time

Brums, won't you get a violet reaction?

Poddy, you gave me a bit of a fright - I thought I must have missed the vote last week!

As for putting in a blank form - might as well in our electorate. It is such a safe seat our MP doesn't even bother campaigning. The other parties haven't door-knocked or letter-box dropped or even made look-at-me appearances at the local football games or shopping centres. There hasn't been any write-ups in the local paper, not even any 'Vote for' signs around the neighbourhood. I wouldn't even have a clue who else is standing for election.

Update on the other candidates in our electorate. In this week's local free paper there was a write-up on each of the candidates and they admitted they haven't done much campaigning! The only candidate who lives locally is the current MP, all the others are ring-ins from other areas. As our MP has one of the safest seats it looks like it will be more of the same old, same old for many years to come.

McEwen in VIC looks gone (to ALP). Cameron Caine expected to concede with short speech soon

With Fran Bailey stepping down not long after the fires - I suppose inevitable. The seat was tight last time - looks like even more so - I wonder if the title hero' did the damage (Cameron Caine) was with Victoria police and 'helped' the people etc etc and stayed ont he mounting - I wonder if the label stuck in peoples throats?

It looks like Wilson Tuckey wont get re elected - what a shock.  I dont know if anyone saw that coming.  Mind you I dont think many of us even understand why he normally romps it in.  Interesting electorate though - its bigger than the whole state of NSW.

Our seat is still undecided - less than 3000 votes in the primary.  I think it may go Labor (big call) and I think this has to do with the trainline than Allanah gave us.  (smee will know all about this)

Having set up and closed a local nats /  independent how to vote booth and witnessing for a first for me as a scrutineer at the end of the campaign . A sudden deep respect for the fairness and openness of the system. I do think the coalition has just won.

The problem now is are the greens logical, honest and fair?

Well I bet $10 to a hung parliment +-1 with independants holding the balance . If we have a pool the winners get 1/2 of the prize money the other 1/2 goes to poddys fav charity.

No one took my bet phooey !!!

It was interesting scrutineering last night the booth I was in lower house Labour got less primary votes than the greens and the labour second / third preference went 1/2 to greens 1/2 to Nationals. While in the senate labour and green preferences went to each other with only a 2% leakage.

Labour did not try in the seat, it was a real slap in the face to the district and will show in state elections too.

If this trend is Australia wide I can see the Greens taking enough primary labour vote to be the DLP all over again. This may be the start of a second wilderness for Labour. The greens like the Democrats never give either party full reign and yet the blame always falls on the party in power, in the lower house . Even if the entire fault was because of Green / Democrate Senete demands.
