This is a thread for people who'd like to show off, brag about or simply discuss their recent wins.
Yes, bragging allowed!
I've just won a very nice Victorian item - 1880 pair of brass writing desk candlesticks with pen tray (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?VISuperSize&item=200403586338). The seller had originally listed it as posting within UK only, but he was very friendly and agreed to post worldwide. My bid didn't reach its maximum, so I'm very satisfied with the final price.

Hmmmm all I see is a revolving circle of dots, bretty clever for 1880 :)
-
Phew!..Glad it's not just me..lol
I thought it was the dial up thingy...but would really love to see them..

Same thing happened to me too. Just a round circle of dots and I am on broadband.
-
I'm sorry about that. The link went dotty.

This could be because eBay would only notify you of the shipping date when the seller has enterred the "shipped" icon in "My eBay"... And they may have done that several days after the actual posting..
Thus.. Not eBay's fault.
Cheers

Guys - chill. You are both right, but eBay have muddied the waters... (like, is that a surprise..?)
Here's my take:
Recent updates to your order
Your item(s) has been marked as shipped.
Interesting how eBay note that the order update indicates that the item has been marked as shipped. This is, technically, absolutely correct.
Shipped on Nov-14-09
... but then go on to say it was actually shipped on that date - WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY WRONG. EBay are the kings of simplification and assumption, traits that bear no comprehension with how the real world actually operates. As a result, we get communications issued based on people using the eBay facilities EXACTLY how eBay thinks they should be used. Idealistic and arrogant.
This could be because eBay would only notify you of the shipping date when the seller has enterred the "shipped" icon in "My eBay"... And they may have done that several days after the actual posting..
Thus.. Not eBay's fault.

There are two parts to this issue. One is when the seller updates the information and, on that Barny, you are absolutely correct - not eBay's fault.
However, the other part of it is that eBay makes a simplified assumption about that information and notifies the buyer, using the information INCORRECTLY (surely they wouldn't do that......? As if.). That is the cause of the problem here and that IS ebay's fault.
The date captured is the date the details were updated - NOT the date the item was shipped. EBay has made the assumption that the details will be updated the same day as items are shipped. Not all sellers are going to conform all the time.
If eBay really want to be accurate, then they should have a "date shipped" field. They can default this to the current date, but it would allow correct communication!
It is regrettable, but all too often, eBay do this to the chagrin of sellers and buyers across a whole range of facilities - and lately they are going even further by making business decisions about 'payment reminders' and such, over which sellers have no say or control.
This goes past the point of inept.
This is WAY past the concept of a venue...
EBay is acting as a representative of the seller - no, more correctly, eBay is acting as if they ARE the seller. (In my opinion, it is only a matter of time before this will lead to a buyer taking up legal issue with a seller who is able to take it to court. Since EBay have nailed themselves up directly in the firing line, they are going to need some pretty fancy footwork to NOT come out with a bloodied nose.)
I am curious as to how many sellers out there that have actually agreed to this, but I don't know of any.
