Low Rent Vermin
« on: September 30, 2009, 11:02:02 AM »
Ever since it was introduced I have used 'Best Offer' and have found it a good marketing tool

however

in the last few weeks I seem to be getting more and more utterly stupid offers - like for example I was offered $13 for a $279 handbag

I get several like that every day

do they seriously think even for a nano second that I would consider such an idiotic offer

I need to have a generic response to these low rent vermin to include when I reply with a counter offer

any ideas ??

Nothing you can do just no and no comment buyers are only allowed 3 offers on an item, in most categories before eBay automatically. Bans them from bidding or offering on that item. In my experience most intelligent people do not use eBay much nowadays. Most buyers are below average intelligence with per manners to boot.

PS set auto minimum offer on eact item ie on $375 bag it might be $340

I experimented a bit with this when "make an offer" was introduced. I mock-listed something, getting as far as preparing it all, and then didn't hit the LIST button because it was only a dry-run.

You can specify a minimum below which you will not even entertain an offer, and that means completely ridiculous offers are automatically not even passed on to you; they're automatically rejected.

As far as preparing a succinct reply is concerned for such offers... what about this?

Thank you for your interest in this high-quality item.

Unfortunately your offer does not reach the appropriate minimum for this item.

I will be happy to consider any reasonable offer.
