Dear peterrandrews:

Over the course of this year, eBay has conducted a global review of the use of payment methods on its websites.

Given the very low usage of Propay, Skrill and Paymate on eBay’s various sites, from the week of 27 September 2015, these payment methods will no longer be supported.

Please revise the payment methods offered on Good ‘Til Cancelled listings to avoid them being taken down 30 days from their initial listing date.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and for selling on eBay.

That is going against the spirit of the decision by ACCC.

Low rate of takeup does not constitute a reason to remove the ability to take up an option whose removal is unfair.

ACCC time, I think.

each item bought is individually postage added.
The buyer has topay and the seller refund the excess monies
I had $42 postage on six item. The seller charged me $10 and had me direct debit to avoid the paypal tangle

As I understand it, this happens if you use the eBay shopping cart and the Seller has not set up postage rules.

Depending on what the Seller has on offer, these rules may not be easy - or even possible - to set up correctly.

My seller friend is in this boat - and often tells their customers to do the "Buy it now" thing on each item and then wait until they issue a combined invoice with the correct PP&H.

I haven't had this issue, but I am aware that quite a few people have.

The frustrating thing about it - or at least ONE frustrating thing about it - is that if one hasn't experienced it oneself, it appears easy to blame the buyer for not doing the purchase in the right way. I know of one buyer who took screenshots of the whole process from "go to woe" to prove that she was not somehow missing a step or failing to do this or that in the process.

Its when you use payapl topay.
It decides the postage
Honest sellers often refund some of the postage
However ebay base their charges on the amount plus postage
the seller can claim a refund from refunded postage but it makes extra work for them

My money is on the eBay shopping cart. I've seen it before.

There are a couple of qualifications, but mostly PayPal just uses whatever eBay provides.

It is curious how all the little quirks you find along the way seem to always lean towards the maximising of fee charges.

Adding postage into the final value fee calculation was a bit rich - but I can understand why they did that. I'm just waiting for them to start charging FVF on postage for pickup items....

EBay has done one thing out of paranoia that is actually costing them sales. My seller friend had a recent situation where they were going out of their way to help a Buyer (who didn't have a lot of experience or confidence with eBay) sort out multiple purchases for a combined invoice, to save the buyer on shipping costs. From what I can gather about the exchange, I suspect eBay may have been filtering messages.

That is a great way to put Buyers off - and to have Sellers bear the brunt of the Buyer's displeasure. Such a rich reward for the Seller who was spending so much time helping their customer.

Which reminds me ... there is talk of eBay forcing Immediate Payment for all items under $1,000 - so say goodbye to a lot of sales where a customer might want multiple purchases under a single lot of postage - UNLESS - that seller can set up "rules" for the shopping cart that will allow for automatic calculation. It's a bit hard to do that when you sell items varying from the size of a business card to a small overnight bag and where half of the packages can go at letter rates - when eBay thinks everything is a parcel.

So ... what was the question....?

eBay's emails are an avalanche. They tell me they've chosen things for me which they know I'll want; they tell me I'll find my sort of shopping inspiration in their email; they tell me what's "trending" (ha - am I bovvered? I AIN'T BOVVERED!); they tell me this is it, the one I've been waiting for (I wasn't); they advise me to be the sharpest tool in the shed; and so on and so on and so on.

I don't want to disable all messages from eBay as I may use the occasional discount offer, but if I could just disable the "WE think we want you to know about these things" emails, it would be a considerable saving on my inbox's ability to cope. The whole experience is simply - annoying. Result: I am less and less inclined to buy from eBay as I don't have nice fuzzy warm feelings about eBay.

I have some newfound money USD on plastic.
First thing I did out of the chute was online spending warfare.

One item in particular is noteworthy here: a men's wrist watch. About 20 bucks, cheap.
I liked it; really wanted it.

The Post lost it. I got a refund, thank you.

Today, after 6 or 10 days of my plastic, un-refilled was good to go yesterday after I got with CS.

Nice watch, I really wanted it.
At check-out, I clicked VISA.

The order dint go thru.
Clicked again. Ultimately bailed on it all.

Then, I fergit how, my plastic goes suspended. A report of 4 bogus buys on the hack.
I gotta call -not EM- the CS.
Bizzy all day.
Got a go this evening.
CS bloke did his Majic, got the juice again.
And he explained to me what he saw on his screen.

Those conglomerated evil sots thot they could do an INTERVENTION on my order.
