By Request... WHO SHOULD LEAVE FEEDBACK FIRST?
« on: August 21, 2009, 01:41:41 PM »
Subtitle: Because there can never be enough feedback threads...

Have at it!

Should sellers leave feedback first, or should buyers leave feedback first?

Should both leave feedback at all?

Should neither leave feedback?

Should one leave feedback and not the other? If so, who and why?

And when was your last cup of coffee?

These are other questions consume us in... the great "WHO SHOULD LEAVE FEEDBACK FIRST?" thread.
"No man is an Iland, intire of it selfe; every man is ...a part of the maine; ...any mans death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankinde"

We all love a good feedback thread! ;D

Consider this scenario:

Buyer makes payment
Seller leaves feedback
Buyer's payment is rejected/reversed for some reason - incorrect account details, no funds, the cat was bidding
Dispute is not resolved and NPB receives an Unpaid Item Strike
Buyer emails eBay and appeals the strike

If the seller has left positive feedback (no other option of course) for the transaction, the strike will be removed!

In the past, as a seller, I left feedback as soon as the item was paid for.

My reasoning for doing so is this.
The buyer has fulfilled their contract and is entitled to have that acknowledged, I was confident that my goods and services were A 1 +++++ so there was no reason to expect ant retaliatory negative or even a neutral. this worked extremely well and in over 1000 transactions my feedback only dipped once from 100% and that was due to my ISP the wireless tower fell over in a storm and i had no internet for almost a month :(

As a buyer I leave feedback just as soon as I have checked my purchase, if it is found to meet all the criteria discribed int the TOS it receives a glowing positive all round.
If it does not meet the TOS criteria I contact the seller to try to resolve any issues and if they can be resolved the seller gets a positive, if it can not be resolved the seller gets a neutral or negative depending on the severity.

In over 1000 transactions I have given one negative because the item was a fake and the seller knew it.  and one neutral because the seller it took nearly a month to ship the item.

OK, here goes....

As a seller, I never leave feedback for a buyer. And my reasoning is that it is of no value.

And when I am a buyer, I don't even check whether feed back was left or not. The reason being that it is of no value.

Like up there ^^^ I leave feedback for sellers as soon as I have checked the delivery.. Coz, for sellers feedback is valuable, as are good DSRs.

The "no value" terms above are for people to violently disagree with and give me a serve. So before that happens --  :P  :P

I have to admit, the last five purchases I've made, I haven't left feedback, but then four out of five, forgot to register the parcel?...yes really...lol.

I'm with Tello & Barny....feedback is redundant these days......but when I did sell, I always waited until the buyer left me feedback before I'd leave mine.  I figure that if they are happy, they'll leave positive feedback and I'll return it and everyone's happy....but once you leave feedback, you have no bargaining power.....these days, it doesn't matter, you're screwed as a seller no matter what you do.......no incentive for buyers to be reasonable any more and some newbies in particular, are quick on the draw

It has long been my opinion that the feedback system is flawed the moment you allow humans to post it.

I have posted before that I think the feedback system should be overhauled to a model that holds feedback in escrow. Only when both parties agree that the deal was successful is a positive feedback score shown. The onus is then on both not to be idiots over petty issues, and any serious issues have to be resolved before feedback is show.

Buyers will all be able to tell by the feedback score if a person is a good or bad seller/buyer, because feedback will show as a seller and as a buyer, so members can judge.

If you can see someone has had 1000 transactions as a seller, and only 600 successful deals, a buyer will know something isn't quite right.

Same as for a buyer, so that should take away the reason why idiots auction bomb members, as it will have zero effect, because no comment can be made, and if it's malicious, the seller will have a right to ask it be declared a non transaction, as an NPB would also.

It's not perfect because some people die for feedback, especially ones full of praise, but I think it's fair and equitable considering the problem it has always been.

Feedback!

Wonderful, glorious feedback!

My point of view (as a buyer): I see my received feedback now as pointless in terms of indicating to sellers that I'm a good buyer. No seller can tell whether or not I pay quickly, whether or not I blackmail them, whether or not I harass them with bombarding emails, whether I'm unreasonable in my post-sale demands, or even whether or not I paid at all.

Whether I receive this pointless (but nice) feedback before or after I leave feedback for the seller seems moot to me.

I consider sellers' feedback is more important than ever, even down to the nitty gritties of the DSR. I make it a point to leave feedback for a good seller as soon as I receive the item (in good condition, of course). If there's a problem, I offer the seller every opportunity to rectify it, and I will always leave positive feedback if the situation has been resolved positively.

I don't worry about whether or not a seller leaves me feedback. If he/she does, that's nice, and I appreciate it, but it's not necessary. I will still have left feedback appropriate to the TRANSACTION.

I chose to only leave feedback for my buyers AFTER I have either received feedback from them, and know they are happy with their purchase, or after they have emailed me, letting me know the item has arrived and they are satisfied, not long after I started selling on eBay.
It made sense to me, and that was back in the days when a  seller could neg a "bad buyer". ( From my memory, I have only done that once.)
The vast majority of my buyers happily leave feedback on arrival, a small number wait a while and them leave it, an even smaller number don't bother at all.
I will occasionally leave these non-communicators feedback, but it does depend on my mood, how much free time I have, whether I could be bothered, the phase of the moon, etc.

I think it is important for sellers to receive feedback. It is for them to decide if they wish to leave feedback for me. I have never been in a situation, with either of my buyer IDs, which required me to leave anything other than positive feeback. I have been fortunate.

If there were to be a problem I would hope communication would be the key to a satisfactory outcome. I would consider a negative feedback if negotions failed and the seller was unresponsive etc. It would pain me to even consider that step.

I leave feedback when the goods arrive. I personally feel it is polite to give a good seller feedback which lets them know the goods have arrived safely and I am satisfied.

My last cup of coffee is sitting next to me-------stone cold.  :vent:

We did do this subject to death at the height of the Feedback Changes, and it was fun......many great lyrics were barstardised, including this one....to Strawberry Fields - The Beatles....

Let me take you down cause I’m going to
Zero Feedback, can’t get it back
And there’s no-one to get up about
Negative feedback forever.

Feedback is easy with eyes closed
Misunderstanding all you see
It isn’t hard to give feedback
But it don’t work out
It shouldn’t matter much to me……!!!!

Let me take you down cause I’m going to
Zero Feedback, can’t get it back
And there’s no-one to get up about
Negative feedback forever

Feedback is dead, I don’t know, think it's me
But you know, I know when it's a dream
I think Feedback was once good, but it's aaalll wrong
At least I think I disagree !!

And another one for the Aussies.....

(Sing in Italian Accent:)

Selling on Ebay, now it’s very strange,
Ebay change-a the rules, make the sellers change
but still-a be myself, I'm-a never change a thing,
always dance and sing
.

(cause I remember mama used to say:)

What'sa matta you, hey,
Gotta neg feedback, whatta you think you do,
Why you looka so sad?
It's-a not so bad, it's-a nice-a place,
Ah, Shaddap You Face.

Boy, it make-a me sick, all the things I gotta do.
can't-a getta no kicks, always gotta follow rules,
boy, it make-a me sick, just-a make a lousy bucks,
I gotta feel like a fool.

(and mama used to say:)

What'sa matta you, hey,
Gotta neg feedback, whatta you think you do,
Why you looka so sad?
It's-a not so bad, it's-a nice-a place,
Ah, Shaddap You Face.

So now I go away, Ebay he’s-a no good
All the listings gone, I'm-a never understood
but still-a be myself, I'm-a never change a thing,
always dance and sing.

(Cause mama keeps saying:)

What'sa matta you, hey,
Gotta neg feedback, whatta you think you do,

(I can't get no) Seller's Feedback

I can’t get no seller’s feedback
I can’t get no seller’s feedback
‘cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can’t get no, I can’t get no

When I’m buyin’ in eBay
And that page comes with the BUY IT NOW
It’s tellin’ me ev’ry day
About some useless information
Supposed to show my obligation
I can’t get no, oh no no no
Hey hey hey, that’s what I say

I can’t get no seller’s feedback
I can’t get no seller’s feedback
‘cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can’t get no, I can’t get no

When I’m watchin’ my PC
And that page comes on to tell me
How items aren’t for free
But it can’t be the truth, ‘cause I NEVER pay
For goods on eBay (hee hee)
I can’t get no, oh no no no
Hey hey hey, that’s what I say

I can’t get no seller’s feedback
I can’t get no seller’s feedback
‘cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can’t get no, I can’t get no

When I’m biddin’ round the clock
And I’m buyin’ this and I’m sayin’ that
And I’m tryin’ to skip that block
Set by a seller “Better not try biddin’ on this
‘Cause with you I won’t give positives”
I can’t get no, oh no no no
Hey hey hey, that’s what I say

I can’t get no seller’s feedback
I can’t get no seller’s feedback
No seller’s feedback, no seller’s feedback, no seller’s feedback

Most items were in excess of $300

Over $83,000 sold in the last 30 days!

And another archived classic from the F/back rebellion: (If I Fell - The Beatles)

Buyers Ballad......

If I gave a neg
To You...
I must be sure
From the very start, that you....
Can't neg me in return....

If you trust in me, Oh dear
I’d  run and hide
cause I’ll neg you blue, Oh Please
don’t run and cry not fair…...

'Cause I couldn't
stand the pain,
and I.....
would be sad if my neg love
was in vain,

so I hope you see
that I....
would love to neg you.

And that you....
will cry,
when your feedback is through….
If I keep on negging  yoooou

Wheels, thanks for spotting that seller. Evidently there are problems - not sure whether the seller is unintentionally or intentionally defrauding, but to the consumer it's irrelevant.

We'll check it further. At least the seller isn't selling anything at the moment, but he's not listed as NARU - and with that level of atrocious service and lack of supply, it's hard to see why he has not been given the tar's salute.

The plain fact is that the seller is dishonest. He's dishonest in stating item location as being Sydney (Australia) when the feedback from those who DID receive their purchased items makes it evident the items are being shipped from China. He's dishonest in representing that the items are new when at least some are not (see feedback). He's dishonest in claiming that items will be sent within 12 working days of payment being received. (Outrageous timeframe, anyway - but he doesn't even stick to that. Can we all say "drop-shipping" together on the count of three?)

These are his TOS.

   * Item is covered with 24 months Return to Base warranty (Sydney).
    * Items dispatched from Sydney will be shipped via local or international courier.
    * Items dispatched from Hong Kong or Malaysia office will be shipped via one of the following international couriers: Fedex / EMS / DHL.
    * Pick up is not available.
    * Deliveries to PO Box addresses are not accepted. Please provide alternative delivery address as soon as purchase is made.
    * Shipping insurance is recommended. We take no responsibility for any item damaged during shipping.
    * Orders are processed and sent out within 12 working days once payment is received. Shipping time to most cities is normally 2-5 working days, unless there are delays on customs clearance.
    * Payment MUST BE MADE within 3 days after end of auction.
