Has eBay glitch Friday extended to the whole week?
« on: June 11, 2010, 08:58:31 PM »
As usual for a Friday night, eBay is broken!

This week seems to have been very glitchful (a new eBay word) with missing eBay and PayPal emails and every time I look at MyeBay the text changes size.

Hi wheels ;D It appears that the eBay techs are becoming quite expert during their forays  into weekly maintenance :notworking: :( :shakehead:

GlitchFest continues on eBay.

I have just tried to list an item using 'Sell Similar' but I'm unable to change Categories and the Continue button and Submit button have disappeared! I can still list because I know where the buttons should be and if I click in the right area it works.  ;D

I have checked and I have the latest versions of Firefox and Java installed.
Cookies and Cache have been cleared.
If I log into eBay using IE8 it is all ok so there must be some problem with my browser.

I've looked on the UK and US boards and there are a few similar posts but I can't find an answer to fix the problem.

I've just tried Live Help but it says the wait is 22 minutes to connect so I'll try again later.

Any other suggestions?

 :goodidea:

I've fixed it (well the smart young man who lives upstairs did!). There was some corruption somewhere and all is now good. I don't have to resort to using IE.

The other night I brought eBay up  on IE7, Firefox and Chrome. Firefox had a big blank spot in left of screen column on the Buy page after I had selected the Buy area . Then a notice cam up saying Timed Out try again later. I had just signed in and every thing had been cleared.

Chrome had some glitches and was fine once I remembered i had not cleared the cache etc..

IE7( haven't bothered upgrading to IE8)  NO problems with IE7.

I always use Firefox (sometimes Chrome)for eBay. I have not seen the ad.coming up which urges people to sign up for IE (plus something negative about Firefox, I think), which yibs showed in a screen shot. I am wondering if eBay is actively discouraging members from using Firefox on the Ebay site and why??

Centuries, that is the same problem I'm having with Firefox, lots of blank white spaces everywhere.

I've just noticed in MyeBay that it says BETA, so they must be trialling some new changes. Maybe that is the cause?

I've just had a quick look at the eBay boards. Seems there's a glitch and sellers are complaining that they have unknowingly been given Powerseller status and they don't want it!

Glitches are so wonderful ;D

I didn't think eBay could dictate which browser one used? Are they able to push IE8 and disparage Firefox (in a very underhand way)?

It makes me wonder who has shares in Ebay..lol

It does seem a little underhanded.....perhaps legal....but still underhanded.

Considering the major role eBay plays in eCommerce, it might be interesting to see whether it is 'legal' or is, in fact, either an exhibition of 'professional negligence' or an arrogant forcing of people onto IE for their own gain.

If it ever comes up, the makers of Firefox, Opera, etc. would probably love to help out - so long as the areas of concern are addressed on the basis of the official web standards.

I could see eBay advertising Safari, Opera, Firefox and even Netscape if they could get money for it.

Whether their site works with them properly or not is something they would consider - until someone with a lot of clout complained.  Then they'd do some quick and dirty mods to get things 'running'.

What about the new "Powerseller" glitch where a LOT of people have been made powersellers of late, even some that have not sold in ages.
