Totally agree.......it leaves me befuddled that ebay "cut and paste" an answer to all this!!!!!!!

This highlights a serious problem with eBay's handling of fraud.

The seller details (removed when the listing is removed) NEED to be made available to the buyer so he/she can follow up on the purchase. Privacy does not cover the holding back of required contact details in a case such as this.

It's at least heartening that some of those scammed have got together to compare notes, and to follow up with reports to the police. I have all too often heard that people decide it's all too hard and shrug off the loss without taking it any further - and this is part of why conmen get away with their cons. It IS hard and time-consuming to follow up on a fraud like this... but it's a necessity.
