I usually check seller's previous sales to see if they have a history of accepting offers and at what price before making an offer.
Don't you just kick yourself when you make an offer 20% less than the BIN and it is auto accepted!

What I find bizarre is offering 1 cent less than the BIN amount for an item - and getting a straight out refusal. Even after contacting the seller, this was their stand.
I did start at what I thought was a fair offer and after that was declined I made a second offer of something that wasn't much of a discount. Only when that was declined, did I offer the 1 cent less amount.
Why would you bother with the 'Best Offer' option?
