Well, how about that, I put a picture in first attempt.
I'm not sure what the bottom list of things (URL, AIM etc) mean, yet but I'll learn.
Even when I was working I struggled with computers. If I needed to use my work system for something other than a typewriter I would ask on of my subordinates to set it up for me, Excel etc.
I guess I've always been a street wise bloke but not very electronic savvy.

That's true. Anyone can read the posts, but to ask a question or reply to something, people will need to register.
This will not only stop most disruptive would-be posters, but also prevent a great many spam members trying to link to their websites offering "firmaceuticals" and so on... if you know what I mean.

Well, ANOTHER thread to catch up on - but, hey, it was delightfully fast ot load the pages - even on my old PIII 500MHz running WIN 98 (Yes, Countess - it still goes, doesn't it?)
Was thinking though... I noticed some of you have kept your old ID and some have signed up with variations ... I wasn't sure which way to go, but I'd rather just be Brumby - I only added my initials because of uniqueness.
Let me guess ... I will need to kill this ID and re-register. Correct?
PS - Is it just me or does the air seem so much clearer here? ;-)

brumby one advantage of having the same ID in both places is that the ID should come up in google searches within a couple of days and it should be a simple task of telling ebay posters to search for it so they can find this site.
Countess what we could do with is a welcome section for this purpose.
then we all start a new thread telling averyone what our interests are with ebay and what we are trying to do and a final direct to the main index
that way the tread starters ID will come straigt up in internet searches. :green:

Proximity of keywords is important in links... If you link back to something you've posted on eBay, with the keywords eBay, Round Table and Brumbymg, the link here becomes more likely to be prominent in a Google search.

I'm back, a little sodden but happy to be home, and yes! I have finally unmasked and shed the Ebay lolcat, for the real me, something I would never have felt comfortable doing on "BigForumbay", in the background is a lovely shot of Tamworth from the lookout.
I am thoroughly exhausted, and yet I am still up at 2.30 am, I have read the UK RT till my eyes feel like shriveled raisins, I knew I would have a huge amount of posts to read but I was completely floored by the actual amount of posts.

By accident I noticed some moderator's notices on some past posts, which is fair enough.
But, what about a system that sends the poster a notice that they have been "moderated".
Otherwise they (me) would not know about it.

I guess my view is that, if Admin want a poster to modify their behavior, they should be asked to do so in a polite, but direct manner... So there is no doubt what is acceptable here.

Actually there was a circumspect reason for my question, like Barny I would like to know what is moderated and if we post and leave that thread forever we won't know we have been moderated and could re-offend so a notice would be good. I imagine as we evolve this will all happen.

I've got to do some searching for more French Scrabble. I must admit that eBay still seems to be the only place where I can obtain them. I snaffled one recently for one person on the request list, but now I have four more people demanding their own French Scrabble!
I haven't had any luck with Italian Scrabble - far, far too expensive with the postage. And if I start looking for Russian Scrabble (for myself), I think I may be unlucky...
Wish me luck as I try to find things in the eBay search! :violin:

Hi Cosmo as things have progressed some changes on the site have occured since the first few days, so many of the early comments are no longer valid.
Its only been up for a week and its still evolving, hopefully improving with time.
When you consider how far we have come in so little time just imagine what it will be in a whole month :D

As Hawk says, yes - this place is evolving all the time. For instance, it's now a default setting to have your email unavailable to general view, which is great because you have a right to your privacy.

Cosmo, it was the fatman that I got slapped for when I had another (well known) ID.
I had him as my ME page image and had the whole page reported and removed for profane images. You made the bikini-clad one to make it less offensive, and we both got slapped for posting it.
Later I even got slapped for the cactus head version too. I got numerous direct complaints from members that I was taking the "mickey" out of obese people. Pretty silly considering that I was posing as myself in those shots (I gave up the smokes and now eat instead).
I almost posted a copy of your "Simon on the toilet", but decided that might be too crass and distasteful for these lovely people here at OzRT ;D

Hi Lady Rose, I work with many women and a lot of those have had recalls and also my daughter. Though they all wondered what they were in for, it was just double checking. Aren't you lucky you are being looked after by a clinic who are careful. You will be ok I am sure. Is your husband still away?

Lady Rose, probably a few minutes of tests and a lot of sitting around waiting for results. Nothing like getting the girls out to have them squashed flat as a pancake against a cold plate!
When I go to the melanoma clinic it is an all day affair - interview, tests, measuring, poking and prodding, break for lunch while all the docs confer, then another round of inspections and finally decisions on whether any further treatment is needed. I feel like a lab specimen! Especially sitting there having them pore over you scalp to toe, reminds me of the monkeys at the zoo when they groom each other!

I read much, and use ebay to find books. I sometimes sell pieces of my collection to fund new purchases. I still buy from antiquarian booksellers, but ebay has allowed me to source items that would have cost me much more, for which I am most grateful. I have a Dickens collection, of which I am most proud and which brings me much pleasure.

Had a bit of an upsurge in workload - part of which is good (I think) - I do some photo work for a seller and they've had 5 cartons of stock arrive yesterday. Glad I have a setup where my digital camera has remote capture.

I'm here due to a friend advice after being sanctioned from those other sites.
I only buy on these sites. Collectibles - Coins, Art, Books, Music, Jewellery ... occasionally clothing.
Prime interest is exposing fraudsters of Australian currency.
There is a US based site that may best suit the communities needs for lots of reasons, one being the need to preclude unknown members into a forum who may be shonks lurking.
Not to say I think so of folks here of course... just that it's a pretty specific are we deal with and does involve a lot of money sometimes.
Lets face it... if it has been man made it can be re-made as a forgery.
