I visited the UK Fick Corner!

(I sneaked in quietly, and tried not to make a nuisance of myself.)

It wasn't as scary as I'd feared... Now, where was it we were told not to venture into the ... Knitting or Horticulture or something-or-other section? Apparently it's swift death.

That would be the FH&G countess, the family home and garden forum, they talk about mundane things mostly, then when we visit and try to brighten up there dreary lives they button push us out of existance, we are due to visit them again soon.

A friend of the family (English) said when he first arrived in Australia and was invited to a party or get-together, he was asked to "bring a plate".

He didn't know that this was standard for saying, "Bring some food" - so he brought a plate.

Hello Possums.

Just popped in from dear old Blighty to see if anyone has a Sirdar pattern for a Fair Isle tank-top ? I visited our FH&G forum, but they shoo-shooed me away. Very unhelpful they are, if your face doesn't fit. This was the nearest I could find that was similar to the FH&G. Looks very homely ,and cosy.

Mind you I know the OP, so can guarantee it won't stay that way. He shouldn't in any way be approached, incidentally. He's come on here without his medication, so if my reckoning is right, he'll start insulting all and sundry, and blaspheming like an Irish navvy, anytime now. So as I've said, please don't approach him. He can be highly dangerous. Don't let the frail and weak looking body fool you.

Hope you don't mind me saying folks, but I think these boards could do with a bit of a tidy up. Very messy and higgledy-piggledy they are. Not very user friendly at all. Anyway, just an observation.

If any of you do find a pattern in your drawers, would you mind awfully posting it Air Mail to the RT, United Kingdom, for the Att: of EMB, and addressed to
James, please. Thanks awfully, possums.  ;)

Oh by the way, if Logs does get nasty - well it's not a case of if, but when - perhaps you'd care to ring New Scotland Yard on Whithall 1212, they'll fly someone over to subdue him, and he can then be taken back to his secure wing in Broadmoor.

Just a note to the dwellers in Fick Corner...

His Grace of Fickness, namely Barny, was thinking of making a hostile takeover bid for Fick Corner.

However, because of a "not as fick as described" claim, the offer was put on hold.

Subsequent to that, the notification that payment for fick corner could only be made by Paypal, has caused the takeover to be unconditionally abandoned.

Hello Aussieville. Came all the way back here, to straighten out a few things. Things you should know abut your erm...'guest'.

You see good peeps, I knew this would happen. The minute my back was turned, he starts to besmirch my good name. Well I didn't get where I am to-day, by having my good name besmirched.

Right. Off we go. Are you all sitting comfortably ? Well I'll begin.

Logs started off in life as a Rag-and-Bone man. A 'Tatter'. He fell on hard times however, when his horse died. Then, would you believe it, the very next day, someone stole his cart. It was at this point that he fell on hard times. Down, down, down he sank, into the depths of despair, finally hitting the bottle.

It was round about this time, that I met him. A sorry, forlorn looking, emaciated, dishevelled wretch - actually he's not much different even now - rummaging through the rubbish bins, behind the Dorchester Hotel, in London.

Like a fool, I felt sorry for him, and took him in. I fed him, clothed him, gave him a little pocket money, and councelled him. Even while I was doing this, he'd fly into uncontrollable rages, and beat me up, if I accidentally gave him Earl Grey tea, instead of cheap Ty-phoo, or fresh butter, instead of Margarine...which was what he was used to, of course.

Then I taught him how to make clothes pegs, out of Hazel twigs, and fashion flowers out of crepe paper. He now has a thriving business, supplying the whole of Kent with these commodities, door-to-door.

So you see, he's not to be trusted, one little bit. Oh and a word to Miss Ducky. Just watch your step there, or you might find yourself a  Duck a l'orange...and Barny, you really do not want to take over his 'Fick' thread. It's like Alice in Wonderland, full of bizarre people, and weird happenings.

Right folks. I hope that's shed some light on this individual, who I see has infested this thread already, with flies and spiders. How uncouth, is that ?

Must be away now. Plane to catch. Don't know what the vernacular in Oz is for Good Day, so I'll just say G'day, cobbers.

Oh and by the way. If you've trying to ring New Scotland Yard, and wondered why you were getting a wrong number, slight typo. Should read Whitehall, and not Whithall. No such place in the entire UK, I'm afraid. Oh you'll have better luck getting a response, if you ask for Mr Holmes. Sherlock.

But I did get a response on that number, EMB. I thought it was peculiar that the detective who answered the phone tried to sell me a standing order of Whithall Chocolates, and told me that no, they didn't make chocolates in the shape of a bobby's helmet.

someone asked me the same question , I wasnt sure but offered a guess and was fairly spot on .... is the flag thrower always right in his justification of the throwing of the flag or does it go to a third umpire/ref to watch a slow mo reply for final analysis of alleged offence ?
