Title: eBay and Daylight Saving again [year after year after year]
Post by: ernest_price on October 04, 2009, 03:28:20 PM
Another DST changeover and another distinct lack of me remembering what I learned last time around when items on eBay actually end over DSt changeover.

Is it the time to go that's right or the end time that's right with items that straddle DST start time [i.e. they start before DST starts and end after DST starts].

I have an item that says 1 day 10 hours to go but the finish time is in 1 day 11 hours.

From my experience, the DURATION is unchanged.

For something starting before daylight savings begins and ending during daylight savings you need to list at 6pm for it to end at 7pm.  The DURATION does not change.

That is, up until now ... you never know if eBay might try and get clever and 'fix' the times.  (I spoke to a seller who swares they listed something at 9pm for a 10pm end ... but it's showing as 11pm.  I'll need proof - as they can get lost in their work.)

Well, this post is an hour earlier cause it's 5.19pm in NSW right now.

I'm not sure if we can change the setting in our profiles here to show the right time....???.. I'm in a time warp.... but I'd reckon this would affect the whole net the same way wouldn't it?.....

You can Cupie. Profile > Look and Layout Preferences. There's a time offset section.

Yes... I remember that Daylight Saving was a problem last year...

Perhaps eBay don't see it as a problem.
