The $9 tickets only seem to be on short flight fares. Maybe there'll be a Perth - Kalgoorlie?  ;D

You would have to drag me, kicking and screaming all the way, to get me on one of those 'planes. Massive seats or not :scared:   :drama:

Just did a bit of homework for a prospective domestic trip in the near future and the price differences were interesting!

Qantas - $574.
Jetstar - $575.
VirginBlue - $628.

These prices were per person, return, all for the same dates in a couple of months time.

Please, nobody mention Tiger - wouldn't touch them with a 50' pole!

Anyone else finding that VirginBlue are the most expensive?

It has been a few years since I have flown...but I always go with Qantas because they really have the best service.

You get meals....and all sorts of freebies..and they look after the young ones with pencils and fun stuff to amuse them on the trip.

Sometimes it is even worth paying a little extra for a good service if the trip is made more pleasant and you arrive at your destination in a nice frame of mind.

Less chance of their planes crashing too!..lol

I used to fly a little - mainly between Sydney and Melbourne - using Qantas. Mainly because of the rewards program and frequent flyer points.

But they changed the program which dramatically affected the cost of flying for me - so when a change of circumstance came past to permit less travel down south, it wasn't dificult to change direction.

I have clocked up what seems like billions of km's in air travel in recent years and I too prefer Qantas I will use the others if their fare is dramatically cheper... sometimes I even mix and match ie Qantas one way and virgin etc the other  .... you can be lucky and snare so excellent fares .....

I was talking to some forum members in the last week or 2 about these deals to New Zealand (airfares ,car hire and accomodation is included in those prices).....UFB excellent value indeed , considering a one night stay recently at a Melb hotel was billed at over $330 (and none of that was mini bar ) ............ check em out I think from memory its the top one listed and the 3rd one down ... I was thinking about slipping over there for 5nights  just for the hell of it sooooooooooo cheap and conversation rate is still good too over there about $1.25 I think
