How do I know if an email is really from PayPal?
PayPal emails only come from a 'paypal.com.au' or 'paypal.com' address. We will always address you by your first name AND last name.
To report any suspicious emails send them to spoof@paypal.com.
Still not sure if this is genuine?

Good Morning Countess!
Not received at my address...... as yet.
-
When you hovered your mouse over the addresses, did the popup link match each and every address?
Haven't got that email here either.
-
I haven't received this email either.
-
Hello All,
I like your new spiffy avatar Ubbrd. :robin: :keelhaul:
Haven't received such an email Countessa :uthewoman:
Ernestly waves hi to Ernest :welcomedesk:
Winks at R2D2. ;) ;D :3stooges:
-
No such mail here either Contessa.
Methinks that mail smells a bit phishy
I'll give you a better number to call, one that I KNOW is PayPal :)
-
Post the headers here and we can have a look - then again headers can be faked :)
-
1800-073-263 is the correct number for Paypal (one of them anyway). Give them a call and send the e-mail to spoof@paypal.com.au as well.
-
If this is a fake email, it's very sophisticated. I have checked the headers and they appear legitimate.
My name as stored in my PayPal account was also included in the email.
If this IS a spoof email, there are no signals to indicate it, which is worrying. Has everyone here checked their junk mail folders in case they have received this email as well?
-
Yes, I received the same email, with my name, to my paypal email.
-
I have let this slide a bit, but I am going to check it with PayPal more thoroughly. I don't like the idea of this email not being received by all PayPal users if it IS a legitimate one, and I don't like the alternative (that it's a sophisticated fake that doesn't send any red flags when I check its legitimacy).
-
Maybe it was only sent to people who have contacted them in the past. Would make sense.
-
Haven't seen that one, Countess. The last communication I got from Paypal was how I could spend money in Asia - but enough said about that one.
On the matter of previous contact, I can't say I can ever remember contacting Paypal about an issue. EBay - yes, Live help - yes, even Shane, but I don't think I have with Paypal.
Might be worth qualifying your original question with this condition.
Would be worried if there were phishy emails with correct names out there that seemed genuine - especially to someone savvy lke yourself, Countess.
