Title: Our hospital system is on life support !~ "Post-mortem" scene 1 : act 2 ...
Post by: *Yibida* on December 17, 2010, 09:07:36 PM

For anyone interested here's the follow up to my hospital woes...

I saw the bone specialist today about the infection under my right thumb nail... outcome = he said the infection has petered out probably due to the double course of antibiotics I had taken, the nail is showing signs of regrowing normally again and the infection has dried up, so it should look back to normal in a few months... Yippeeeee !

Now to Mrs Yib....

1/ we decided to take a different tact on her situation.

2/ Made an appointment with her regular GP..

3/ the GP had a look and referred her to have an x-ray and return with the results the same day..

4/ saw the doc again with the x-ray results and doc confirmed her elbow has a hair line crack..

5/ the doc then suggested we see a bone specialist for the correct treatment..

6/ after the doc rang a couple of specialists in the local area to no avail { to busy on such short notice } she rang a close bone specialist friend and pulled some strings { pardon the pun } --- the name sounded familiar for some reason ?

7/ he was in surgery but took time out in-between operations to see her { what a Guy ! }

8/ when we met up with him at the private hospital ... Guess what ?.... it was the same bone specialist I saw that morning ! but different consulting rooms..  what are the chances of that !

9/ he saw the x-rays and her arm then confirmed it is a crack on the elbow joint, he advised because it is not a severe crack she won't need surgery / screws / plaster / for treatment, just keep it as rested as possible and start some exercises in a couple of days, then see him in a weeks time for follow up x-rays to see the progress.... Oh yeh he prescribed tablets for any pain..

10/ this little drama took most of the day.. if our health system was top priority with our fearless Politicians this would not have occurred...

I'm exhausted...........

Now comes the hardship of filling the shoes of the Starship Commander which steers the House... I've already done the clothes washing ~ cooked dinner ~ done the dishes ~ changed the sheets ~ fed the dog and cat ~ Jeeeeesez who wrote this job description ! ------ and I'm told there's lots more to this job I haven't done yet !

I TOTALLY BLAME THE POLITICIANS ! OUR DOCTORS AND NURSES ARE WORKING WITH THEIR HANDS TIED !!!

God willing may the plague return and infest every decision making politician on the face of the earth for their non existing compassion.... or the next best thing may they contract eternal constipation....

yibs they are after all politians.  What more could you expect?

Oh and don't forget to wipe down the benchtop, put out the garbage, give mrs yibs her tablets and bring her a glass of water while she has her feet up, watching TV.

The at 10pm sharp, make her a coffee and then help her clean her teeth and dress for bed.

Sounds like fun.

oops put the dog and cat to bed too. ;D

Yib. Buy take away tucker & plastic knives, forks & spoons & plastic plates. Then all you have to do is chuck them in the garbage every now & then.

Don't worry about the washing. Clothes can be worn more than once before they need washing. If the CIC is laid up for to long take the clothes to a laundromat & they will do it. It all costs a bit of money but, that's what money is for.

Dooooonnnnnn't listen to him Yibs......you will end up in the divorce courts!!

Tomorrow you will organise the kids sports and make sure they have approp uniforms and shoes etc, in between runs you will do the grocery shopping remembering everything everybody wanted , special things you know, have lunch ready on time and the meat out of the freezer for tomorrows tea.  Answer the phone politely at all times and say yes to every little  "favour" asked and the ironing should be done by tea time, and the house neat and tidy! Don't forget to feed the fish and the bird and the pet guinea pig that no-one remembers  that lives down the back yard........................etc

So glad you let us know the outcome, glad your black thumbnail will look normal in about a two months time and Mrs Yibs will be totalled recovered by then too.

Did I warn you not to take any notice of the Birdie........   *warning*

I have always had an appreciation for the 'stay-at-home mum'.  This was the role my wife was happy to fulfil in the early days when children came onto the scene.  She wanted to be there when the kids came home from school.

I enjoyed making others think when they asked me if my wife worked. I always said 'Yes' with great conviction and when further discussion revealed what she did, they (almost exclusively males) were ready to apply the 'only a housewife' tag.  It is simply amazing how easy it was to embarass some people who really did not appreciate that work!

I even extended this approach when I was across the desk from someone filling in some HR form...
Q. Does your wife work?
A. Yes
Q. How much is she paid each week?
A. Nothing.
... and then it gets awkward - for the other person, not for me :)

This is something I have been doing long before it became a popular crusade within the social consciousness - and I'd happily do it over again.

Yibs..... An opportunity presents..... put the other half in front of the gaming machine and let her loose on Call to Duty - or something similar. You can then give her valuable tips while you do the ironing! How good is that!
