To the naysayers who said it wouldn't last
:neener:
I do a lot of shopping online and it is great to have somewhere to discuss online trading, online stores and online auction sites. And of course, have some fun in Around the Fountain.
I don't have a lot of spare time to post but I do like to visit. From what I can gather, the membership covers a good mix of buyers and sellers, the young and not so young, males and females from all states of Aus and a couple of celebrities from overseas. The buying and selling experience of the members here has been invaluable to me.
During the last 12 months there have been tiffs, tantrums and tears but there has also been a lot of laughter and shared experiences.
The coinees board has been a great addition to the site and I have learned a lot and been tempted to take up coin collecting again.
Any visitors reading the Round Table, why not sign-up and start posting. We don't bite (a warning: some members do growl and bark and a couple probably have fleas but that is a topic for The Fountain) ;D
To admin and the mods :thanks:

This forum is a great achievement for the members.
It's had more teething troubles than a vampire, and it's faced some nasty attacks and some technical ups and downs with the server, and there have been a few soap operas... :tower: :tanty: :violin: :hornetsnest: but we're here, we enjoy each other's company, we learn from each other, and it's great.
People getting to know each other, meeting each other, taking friendship from the screen to face-to-face... that's another aspect which is terrific to see.
Thank you to the members for being so fantastic.

I agree with wheelsy! great race and all that. I just don't understand the bit about ohhhh Tom BONAN cant get out of the palliation and break away, yet others do? They try hard and DO make a break away and hold off the rest, that's the bit I don't understand! I'm sure there's a logical explanation but sometimes I just don't get it! It really would be an UNREAL idea of a holiday to follow the main bunch around. As young Aussies in France in the mid 80's this was a serious consideration. In the end we went to a beer hall and watched the great race and skol with the best of em!!! It just looks like it hurts watching!!
-
I think with Tom Bonan Golden, it was timing he blew at the end after so many unsuccessful attacks too early, Cancellara was not letting any rider get away and planned his final attack beautifully and near enough to the end to stay away and given the narrow roads and intermiient cobblestone stretches where top speed were not possible for the main bunch that seemed to be what the race was all about, Bonan is a good all round rider for his size and a great sprinter but the tour De France winner last year Contador and Cancellara can sprint also but are a lighter built and shorter than Bonan I think, its also a distance that suits those two, it does hurt just watching those cobblestones are notorious for crashes as well
-
Once Cancellara got away there is no other current rider in the world who could catch him on their own. If a group of strong riders worked together they may have been able to hunt him down. Cancellara is the Road Time Trial World Champ and Olympic Champ so is capable of riding solo for a long distance at a consistently fast pace. Unstoppable once he gets going!
-
Golden, do you want to ride this year's Tour?
http://www.mcfoundation.com.au/adventure_docs/TourdeFrance.html
-
yes goldie wull be there wheels ....
-
my cousins daughter (the cousin whose brother is Bruce Biddle) is competing in motocross champs somewhere in europe and the grandmum is visiting Bruce in Pisa at the same time, this young girl has lost a finger and has a steel rod in her leg but she loves motocross, all those injuries and more from it though lol, very motivated, she got sponsorship to go over which is great
-
YES, YES, YES, I really do want to do it!
I think I've just got itchy feet, a Kombi, a real red hot go at showing your kids the world, before they grow up and know me, I'd be very keen... I guess I'm a tight arse though and could eat bread rolls and sleep in the camper, for less than the price they charge! Would love it though wheels, and yes I know they know when to ride hard and win, sometimes its just NOT like a running race where you get in front and stay in front! GR8 there'd even be a place for a designated driver!! lol..

A Year..?!!!!
Already? My how time flies when you're having fun.
In seeking a place of honesty and fairness, we've grown in many ways - not the least of which is welcoming the coinees.
We have so many individuals from so many backgrounds and who are so different in many ways, yet we share so many things in common.
It's been a rollercoaster at times, but the fantastic thing is we have weathered those storms. We have a few cuts and bruises, but very few scars and a bucketload of memories. One might consider such stouches as a 'right of passage' here on the OZRT - but in that respect, we aren't really unique. It is simply a natural occurrence when you have a group of people who are interested, informed and involved.
What IS special of we members of the OZRT that have endured such events, is that we are able to reflect briefly and move on - having respect for each others' opinions and an appreciation of each others' differences. Harbouring grudges is clearly something that belongs more outside the OZRT than within - and that is something in which every member here should take pride.
It is also impossible to overstate the importance of having the site Administration and Moderation that we have here. Often a challenging and trying responsibility, it has been carried out with very few issues and to the highest standard. In my opinion, it has been the singular most significant component of the success of this site - but only the support and appreciation given by members has (from what I have gleaned) made it bearable.
So, aside from the Countessa's iPhone fan club recruitment drive, what will the next year bring....?
Let's find out together...!
-
I'm with you Brum6y, spot on. All in all a great first year. This next year will be just as good maybe even better. Bring it on!

I'm gonna buy a Ball Joint.
I thought I'd share that bit of info with you.
-
Left or right?
Just thought I'd ask.
-
I dunno. I never thought to enquire, leave it with me.
-
What's a ball joint? Is it anything like a ball bag?
-
Wheels. You whack it on a camera tripod so you can easily have the camera level.
-
Little Johnny came home from school one day and was telling his Mum what happened during a game of cricket. "Mum, Peter ripped his ball bag when he was climbing over the fence to get the ball".
His Mum told him that Peter would probably be in trouble more for climbing the fence than for ripping his ball bag. He just looked at his mother dumbstuck and said "Mum, his ball bag, you know the bag that holds his balls"

Oh no! I must have killed the thread. Sorry boys.
I'll just go back to the cleaning. ;D
