Title: Hard Times in the House of Tello.
Post by: tellomon on April 13, 2010, 12:22:22 PM
I've been reduced to the level of using broken drumsticks for woodstove kindling.....

It's not like there's a shortage of them...it's just "The Principle" of the thing...

OH! The Horror!

This is shaping up into a Country and Western Song.....

Well, the snow's a fallin the house is cold, and the wood truck just got bogged....
And me toes are turning a shade of blue, cause me socks are old and dogged.....
so I'll have to burn the drumsticks...cause there's nothing left to burn
And I'll shed a tear of sorrow, as each old mate has its turn

Cause a drumsticks like a faithful dog, old yella in me hand
And they beat the skins of each new gig, and in each and every band

But it's time to bite the bullet, cause me toes are turning blue
So I'm welcoming donations of new drumsticks sent by you....

So don't be mean, and don't be cheap....when only the best will do
If you can't send decent drumsticks, then what can a drummer do

I'd use me head, me feet me hands, but the sound just ain't the same, a drumstick must be straight and true, not warped and off it's game.....

So unless you send me drumsticks (which I promise not to burn)
I'll be playing drums with tree twigs, and fronds from leafy ferns
So have some pity, help me out, I have some gigs to play
Me drumsticks now are blackened ash, but me frost bight's gone away.....

hehehehe.....

Don't worry, Tello - you can get an iPhone with a drum app.

It will also warm your poor little hands.

I have a huge pile of wood in my backyard.....remnants of my back fence that fell down just prior to the Christmas of '08.

Can't give the stuff away here.....most people have gas heaters these days. ;D

It was funnier before the arrival of the terrifying large red font. That made several of us scream in terror and hide in the corner...

No - there isn't a "scary red font" email group. But that's a good idea. I'll set up all the contacts I have to be aware of this pernicious problem.

Hard Times - a novel by Charles Dickens
House of Tello - a novel by Edith Wharpton (yes, it IS a pun, and the "p" is not accidental)

Or... The Fall of the House of Tello, by Enema A. Poe.
