Title: Advice needed from coinees :)
Post by: Poddy on October 07, 2009, 07:39:22 PM
I have a couple of silver coins and i am not a collector or anything of the sort.

There is a story attached to these two coins

A couple of years ago I repaired and upgraded a persons computer and while that was being done they fell on hard times financialy, they were relying on the computer so they could communicate with their daughter in the UK.

Anyway to cut a long story short I said to them to forget the payment they would not hear of it and instead gave me these 2 coins, I took them because they are magnificent :).

I felt a bit bad but they insisted that I take something for my efforts.

Without further ado I present these pics

Hhhmmm,

Poddy,

I think these are produced at the Perth mint and are "proof" coins and would be solid 99.99% silver weighing one ounce each... I'm not sure of their worth, but I believe that they are legal tender in the Cook Islands...

As to the exchange rate to Aussie Dollars... I haven't a clue..

Some coinies should be able to help for a realistic value.

They are magnificant - and you take great photos.  Silver is at 19.47/oz today, up 0.81.

I love silver coins, I am very envious

Poddy,

Yes, I find the artwork on some coins to be fantastic.

These were the types of coins that comprised my collection that I sold in 2007.

Except mine were only from the Royal Aust Mint in Canberra... I had at least one of every proof and commemorative coin issued from 1981 to 2007 (except gold ones).

Proceeds were just over $30,000 from my sales...

Those coins are beautiful Poddy...and worth at least $50 each.

My Lil Roo was born that year...so the coins could have a rather nice collector value for the year they were minted as well.

Either way...they blend in nicely with the flavour of this site.... ;D

Nah Poddy,

I drive a plastic fake MG.... It's called a TD2000...

Looks like a 1950 MGTD, but uses a twin cam 2 litre Toyota motor with a five speed box, disc brakes all round, and rack and pinion steering... Weighs in at around 900 kg.

I have modified mine with an after market engine managemnt computer, and have remapped the engine to increase power by about 30%... I now get 106 Kw. at the rear wheels.

Ah yes the TF...

I saw a fully restored 1955, 1500 cc one the weekend before last at the historic car race meeting at Baskerville... The owner reckoned he got it cheap at $55,000.

There is one for sale on the MG car club of South Australia web site... For $55,000 as well.

Coinies, If Pluto Pups cost $3.50 each & I have a $10 note & a $2 coin how many Pups can I buy & how much change will I get. Will there be enough change for a can of Pepsi Max if it costs $1.50?

Test question from the keelhauler!

Yes - you can get 3 pluto pups and the can.

Of course if its a radar note or a star note then you should not buy anything with the ten bucks but keep it and see it grow in value

G'day Smee. The Supreme Commander gives me pocket money, she doesn't know I have a cunning kick.
