How could eBay ever be sure (in any simple computerized sense) that payment has or has not been made except by their linked PayPal process? They certainly can’t prove the negative in any other way.

Having said that, eBay, becoming ever more desperate of late, won’t ever pass up an opportunity to attempt to monopolize …
But, let’s face it, PayPal is very convenient for buyers; if you are a scrupulous seller you should (hopefully) not have a problem with PayPal, and if you can’t afford to pay the payments processor’s “cut” you probably should not be trying to sell online.

Only another 12 days to go to the announcement of the first quarter results. The Don’s latest tap dace routine will be interesting to watch: I wonder who he will blame this time for the disastrous results of his own stupid policies.
