Archbishop reveals what Nancy Pelosi did to finally trigger communion ban

When it comes to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) “extreme” and “aggressive” advocacy for abortion, San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone made clear why he is having no part in it, and it has “nothing to do” with the SCOTUS leak.

On Friday, Cordileone sat down with America Media’s Gloria Purvis for her podcast to discuss what ultimately led the archbishop to bar Pelosi from Holy Communion in her home diocese. As previously reported, the statement on the matter spoke to “the grave evil she is perpetrating, the scandal she is causing, an (sic) the danger to her own soul she is risking.”

However, what the archbishop is making apparent, is that Justice Samuel Alito’s leaked draft majority opinion on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that would see Roe v. Wade overturned played no part his announcement.

When asked by Purvis, “why make this decision now?” the archbishop replied, “The leaked decision and the Dobbs case really have nothing to do with it, the timing of it.”

Cordileone went on to detail, “Her advocacy for codifying the Roe decision into federal law–it’s becoming more and more extreme and more and more aggressive. And I’ve been trying to speak with her about this.”

“I’ve been debating this within my own conscience for many years, actually,” he added of the struggle he had in coming to this conclusion. “So this is not something that has just come up recently. I’ve been discerning this. I’ve consulted with people whom I respect for their intelligence, their integrity and their pastoral sensitivity.”

He also cited former Pope Benedict XVI, then-Cardinal Ratzinger, who was in charge of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in 2004 when he issued a letter with guidance to the bishops. The cardinal had encouraged a dialogue, which Cordileone has endeavored to have, and “if after several attempts it comes to the point where it’s…not going to happen…the person is not to be admitted to Holy Communion.”

Cordileone boiled the matter down to the clear delineation between right and wrong. “The point of our conscience is not to decide what is right and wrong…The role of conscience is to help us make the right decision in a specific situation based on what is right and wrong.”

As such, the archbishop has nailed one of the main issues of the time as the media continues to assign themselves the responsibility of drawing those distinctions. CNN’s Jim Sciutto wasn’t alone in attempting to use his Catholic upbringing to offer himself the moral high ground over Cordilieone.

The San Francisco Examiner’s editorial board devoted an op-ed to defending Pelosi and calling for the removal of Cordileone. “Pelosi has consistently fought on the morally right side of these issues,” they argued. “Why is she being singled out for punishment in her hometown, especially when she can still receive Communion in Washington, D.C. or Oakland?”

According to them, “The answer is that Cordileone’s chief loyalty is not to Christ, but to the cabal of far-right American bishops.”

Yet, the Catechism is clear in stating, “Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable.”

Pelosi and her devout followers in the left-wing media may not like it, but to accept Catholicism is to accept, in part, that you are not the center of the universe. Short of that, and the archbishop contends she is embroiled in scandal.

“Scandal is an action that would lead others into error or into sin. So the scandal here is that someone who is strongly advocating for something as evil as abortion and taking Communion creates confusion among people. And they can begin to think that it is acceptable for a Catholic to believe this,” Cordileone explained.

Ultimately, “on this issue,” he expressed, “she needs to better form her conscience.”

Leftists swarmed after the archbishop of San Francisco announced that he was banning Nancy Pelosi from Holy Communion, hitting Twitter to demand that the government strip churches of their religious tax exemption for such a grave insult against the mighty Speaker, and drawing a stinging response from Christina Pushaw who called for an eye for an eye rebuttal.

On Friday, Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone put Pelosi on notice that her “extreme” position on abortion as well as her ignoring his requests to speak with her about the “grave evil she is perpetrating” and the “danger to her own soul she is risking” left him little choice but to bar her from the sacred rite, as the 65-year-old religious leader gave notice of his position in a letter to the “devout Catholic.”

In his letter to the faithful on the notice sent to Pelosi, Archbishop Cordileone wrote “I have determined that the point has come in which I must make a public declaration that she is not to be admitted to Holy Communion unless and until she publicly repudiate her support for abortion ‘rights’ and confess and receive absolution for her cooperation in this evil in the sacrament of Penance. I have accordingly sent her a Notification to this effect, which I have now made public,” also posting a notice on Twitter.

Among those who were triggered by the archbishop’s action was one blue check journalist who also took to Twitter to call for taxing the churches.

“It’s time we ended tax exemption for religions. If they want to play politics, make them pay the price,” wrote David Lazarus, the “Emmy-winning money guy for KTLA Channel 5” and former LA Times columnist.

His idea drew much approval from the leftist mob that patrols Twitter to enforce rigid leftist ideology and a response from Pushaw who, as press secretary for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has established her own formidable presence on the platform, suggested that the left’s own religious institutions also be stripped of their tax exemptions.

“If Dems want to play this game, it’s time to end tax exemptions for their religion (wokeism) too. Yes that means all their ‘social justice’ nonprofits, the ACLU, Ford Foundation, etc,” she wrote.

Fox’s Steve Hilton calls for ‘incapacitated’ Biden to be removed from office over baby formula shortage

The baby formula crisis is just the latest example that President Joe Biden is unfit for the critically important position that he holds, and his “obvious inability to perform the duties of president properly” should lead to the removal of the “incapacitated” leader from office, according to Fox News host Steve Hilton.

On Sunday’s edition of “The Next Revolution,” the host broke down the disastrous leadership of the nation’s 46th president whose stumbles domestically and on the world stage have brought great harm upon America, a nation that instead of the “adult” leadership that was promised, has been given an express ticket to an authoritarian third world country where the situation has become so dire that foreign aid is necessary to keep nutrition for infants on the shelves.

Hilton began his opening monologue with footage from Biden’s trip to Asia where he fumbled his way through a speech in Japan, needing to read off of notes and his claim that “even in the face of historic economic challenges, our economy is providing and proving to be resilient.”

“Resilient?” Hilton scoffed. “Have you ever heard a weaker expression of resilience than that? That is the President of the United States of America, can’t even say the most basic thing without reading it off of a piece of paper.”

“Biden, mumbling and bumbling his way around Asia while here at home inflation soars, the stock market crashes, the border’s wide open, and the baby formula is now expected to last for months.”

“More than Biden’s border crisis. more than Biden’s inflation crisis – both of those, the consequence of deliberate ideological choices – the Biden baby crisis proves beyond any doubt that this Biden regime, the whole rotten crew of Obama retreads, swamp time servers and juvenile activists is totally unserious and completely incompetent,” he said.

Hilton pointed out that it was “three months ago” that the plant of the nation’s largest baby formula manufacturer was closed down because of a “contamination scare” and that Biden’s cabinet including the head of the FDA have been “working diligently” on a whole government response to fix the problem for three months have only succeeded in making matters worse.

“Except, wait a minute, the crisis is now,” he said. “A few months ago when all these people started working diligently, there actually wasn’t a crisis, there was just a closed factory so somehow, these geniuses by working diligently managed to turn a closure into a crisis.”

“Their response to a sudden massive interruption to the supply of one of the most vital products imaginable for America’s families wasn’t to get the Michigan factory up and running, they’re saying that’s still weeks away,” he added, “it wasn’t to get extra supply from other U.S. producers, it wasn’t to try and find replacement supply from other countries, they continued to block imports for months, with massive tariffs and pointless regulations.”

“It wasn’t even to invoke the Defense Production Act they never stopped going on about during the pandemic,” he said. “The Biden regime’s response they tell us was working diligently for months, and this is the result, panic and despair for millions of families.”

“You might even say separating babies from their food, what could be more inhumane?” he continued. “But at least we know what working diligently means. It means creating a crisis and actually, it explains the entire Biden regime, they’ve been working diligently on inflation, working diligently at the border, they really worked diligently  on the withdrawal from Afghanistan, that was super diligent.”

“Is this what they meant when they told us grown-ups were back in charge?” Hilton asked as he played a montage of talking heads repeating that talking point.

We were promised “The West Wing” and we ended up with “Veep,” referring to the two popular political TV series. “What smug, self-satisfied BS the whole thing was, grown-ups in the room, effective governance, administrative competence, working diligently, what a joke.”

Later in the segment, Hilton summed it all up.

“This is the real crisis, the underlying crisis, the crisis underlying the inflation crisis and the border crisis and the Afghan crisis and this baby crisis and all the others, Biden’s capacity to do his job,” he said, teeing up a series of clips of pathetic scenes of the mentally misfiring Biden. “I mean just look at him, there’s nothing there.”

“Yeah, they managed to wheel him out to make ludicrous, divisive partisan attacks and utterly incoherent rambling speeches like that fiasco on inflation the other week but remember, this is what Biden’s like in public when he knows he’s on display, reading prepared remarks, imagine how bad it is in private when he’s supposed to be actually making decisions, absolutely terrifying,” Hilton said.

“Look, the policy failures, the broken promises, these are things for our political process to resolve in the time-honored way through elections, but Biden’s obvious inability to perform the duties of president properly, that’s different. We cannot wait until 2024, it’s not right,” he added, rolling clips of VP Kamala Harris  saying “dude’s gotta go.”

He then rebutted those who argue that she would be much worse if installed to replace the flailing 79-year-old Biden.

“That’s no reason for the United States of America to tolerate an incapacitated president,” he said. “We must respect the constitution. Biden has proven he is not fit to be president, he should resign or be removed from office immediately.”

Biden WH is in ‘crisis mode’ over a ‘mess they didn’t create,’ CNN spin-masters say with a straight face

Conferring victimhood has become something of an art form with modern woke culture and the latest spin from CNN on the baby formula shortage is something of a Picasso in its presentation of President Joe Biden at the mercy of his own executive authority.

The crisis that is plaguing the nation, forcing parents to scour the internet and search stores hours from their homes in hopes of finding enough formula for their babies until more can be located, did not crop up overnight. Years of regulations and the further development of massive unchecked bureaucracies presented a scenario where a few inept leaders could easily usher in any number of devastating consequences.

But, according to CNN, the baby formula shortage can’t possible be pinned on Biden or his administration which had months to respond to the problem.

“President Joe Biden’s West Wing has been throw into crisis mode over a nationwide shortage of baby formula, with top aides undertaking efforts to restock grocery store shelves while coming under fire for a mess they didn’t create and which they’re still working to grasp the scope of,” CNN’s recent reporting declared.

You read that right. The White House is in crisis mode because of measures well beyond their control. In fact, according to CNN, this shortage that Biden will unfairly receive political damage from falls under the purview of the FDA, which he has no say in.

“The shortage has opened yet another political wound going into an already challenging midterm election season, frustrating the West Wing and the rest of the administration as they struggle with how little control they have over a situation which is centered at the US Food and Drug Administration,” which CNN explained is “an independent agency which the White House neither controls nor gets direct reports from.”

Meanwhile, as the administration touts the supposed successes of the recently launched “Operation Fly Formula” which could have occurred weeks if not months ago, CNN argued that the response was hampered by events happening days earlier.

“Complicating the response: The two Cabinet secretaries with the most direct authority over the situation — Becerra, whose department oversees the FDA, and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, whose department oversees food production — were both in Europe over the last week for conferences with their G7 counterparts,” they wrote.

So, while admitting the administration could have done something, they cover for HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra sitting on his hands for months by saying he was in Europe a week earlier and contracted COVID.

Despite the inability of Biden’s Cabinet to react to the warning signs of baby formula shortage, CNN cannot contend that the president was unaware or incapable of mounting an earlier response as he himself foretold the coming shortages.

“In regard to food shortages,” Biden said in March, “yes we did talk about food shortages and it’s gonna be real.”

What was marijuana like in the 1970s?

Around Dallas, in the 70's, a particular type from Oaxaca, Mexico was predominant. It was $10 per ounce (4-finger Lid) then or $110 per pound (Elbow). It was known by 2 unusual features. First was a really unique spicy/nutty aroma with some hot pepper, nutmeg and clove notes. Second was spotted seeds with a pattern like dried pinto beans.

It was a true, tropical sativa, tall and thin with a heady, insightful kick that was less likely to make you eat and sleep, compared to others on offer.

The growers had a traditional way of preparing the product involving digging up the whole (16 foot tall] plant and boiling the rootball in iron caldrons before hanging them inverted to dry. It was thought to force the essential fluids to the flowers. It did give a certain taste profile.

(edit) I wanted to add a little more here, not for promoting use, but for historical documentation of a big part of the youth culture in those days. We could see national legalization in coming years and these old details could easily be lost. Since I worked with bands, in those days, I had some access.

Marijuana in the 70’s was still a wildcatters business, with freelancers transporting in what they could find, from whomever they knew with a supply. It was usually too bulky-for-value to interest organized crime then, when heroin or cocaine were 10 times more valuable for a less than a tenth the weight. Though, I am confident the Dallas Oaxaca type was a sideline for organized crime because ti was so constant and widespread for 20 years.

While small towns had whatever an adventuring local, with a landing strip out on the ranch, might bring in or pull from a ditch somewhere, it was highly variable. If there was a standard, in the southwest, it was ‘patch’ weed from northern Mexico. Dry, seedy and substandard, grown in patches near little villages and sold north, for a little extra income. In the early 70’s you could still go to certain places where the Rio Grande was small and buy directly from small growers, across the mud.

Other, more urban sources suggested sophisticated and sustaining operations. Some of the better options you might run across included:

Lambsbread - not all of it was from Jamaica, but certainly from the Caribbean. It was dense, fat hanks of indica buds grown in high UV environments. The flowers broke up like cornbread, weak little stems and all, into rollable meal. It was a strong CNS depressant one step removed from knockout drops. The original skunky weed, because of the indica flavor and because the dense flowers dried slowly in the high humidity and so, there was a ‘sweaty’ note.

Columbian gold, so called. It was ‘golded’ by covering developing flowers with little paper envelopes to block the light, so they contained less chlorophyll. A sativa side product of the mountain grown coffee industry. Sometime it contained bits of spider web. Later targeted by the US with paraquat herbicide.

“Ford Thai stick” - fragrant, floral and fragile sativa buds often bound with a little red thread, traditionally skinned whole with a paper and smoked intact. Powerful. They were rumored to come to the US in shipments of upholstered seats for Ford cars.

Tennis Club - I was taken to meet the stateside rep for this one. He showed us box after box of vacuum sealed cans of famous brand name tennis balls, in his hangar. But when you took off the little plastic top and pulled the metal ring to open the can, you found lush, hybrid, Latin American buds, not balls. They stored well, were discreet and good quality.

Kentucky blue grass, as it was called, was fresh but still too damp and sweaty. It could mildew. It did seem to come from mountain families that were once bootleggers. Looked and tasted stronger than it was, probably due to insufficient UV.

Clusterf*ck AKA Bastrop bud, AKA chickensh*t - the growing outlaw music scene in and around Austin resulted in some impressive early product much like the dispensary offerings of today, grown in the bright sun, limestone gravel and aquifer water that is now wine country. Some growers specifically bought defunct poultry operations for the soil. Very nicely manicured and presented. Full prescription strength.

Early commercial Hawaiian. This changed everything. While prices had only increased from $10 to 35 per ounce over nearly 10 years, when these potent, petite, gem-like buds arrived, the price leapt to over $400 per ounce. They were a day from the islands (thanks stewardesses), fresh and full of exotic flavors suggesting pine, mint, lemongrass, roses and ylang ylang.

NCL Imposes Keelhauling to Motivate Crew Members

NCL KeelhaulingSources report that Norwegian Cruise Line will implement keelhauling as a means to motivate crew members to work longer hours on NCL cruise ships.

The ancient maritime form of punishment, once meted out to sailors at sea, involves being tied to a line and pulled along the keel, either from one side of the ship to the other, or under the keel from bow to stern. It dates back to the ancient Rhodian Maritime Code (around 800 B.C.) and was used as late as the 19th century by the Royal Navy and the Dutch Navy until it was abolished as cruel punishment.

NCL CEO Frank Del Rio, who is credited for the new motivational tool, says that he came up with keelhauling after watching his guests participate in the walking "The Plank" for a fee on the Norwegian Getaway. 

Cruise executive Del Rio, who boasted of the idea at the recent Seatrade Miami convention, was quoted as saying "NCL needed something to create motivation for our ship employees while creating excitement for our guests!" Del Rio said that NCL will charge passengers a fee of $19.99 to watch the crew members being keelhauled under the NCL ships.

NCL has imposed every imaginable extra charge on its passengers, including increased room services charges, automatic gratuities and restaurant cover charges, which are diverted away from the crew Walk the Plank - NCLmembers to cover executive compensation. He said at an earning conference last year "… we have looked across the fleet to identify areas where marginal changes can improve the bottom line… this is a bold move which differentiates us from our competitors and will put money into NCL’s pockets. To put into perspective how these small changes can add up quickly, every dollar increase in yield translates to approximately $15 million to the bottom line."

NCL is expected to seek a trademark on NCL Keelhauling, as a play on its NCL Freestyling slogan.

In-house lawyers at NCL, who did not wish to be identified, expressed concern that keelhauling probably violates 18 U.S. Code § 114, which prohibits "maiming within maritime and territorial jurisdiction."  Del Rio said that the U.S. federal statute applies only to state territorial waters, whereas the NCL fleet spends the majority of time in international waters.

"Getting our crew members to work 110% remains our goal," said Del Rio who collected 350 million dollars, himself, last year. "Tying the crew to the mast and publicly flogging them with a cat-o’-nine tails remain options, if we can’t get more work out of our crew."

Monkeypox outbreak appears to be driven by gay sex, health authorities say

The global spread of monkeypox is largely being driven by sex between homosexual males, health authorities are warning.

Most of the roughly 200 confirmed cases throughout North America and Europe can be linked to sex among men, the World Health Organization said Monday. The numbers have grown exponentially since two cases were confirmed in the United Kingdom less than two weeks ago, the first cases of 2022 identified outside Africa.

The United States and Canada have each confirmed at least five cases in their countries, according to CNBC, and the European outbreak is believed to be the largest in the history of the continent. The virus is not technically a sexually-transmitted disease, but is spread through close physical contact with an infected person or linens they have touched, according to the WHO.

Is ‘world government’ on the way to your neighborhood? According To An Op-Ed Contributed by Daniel Horowitz of TheBlaze, such a prospect may be on the horizon. It was recently discovered that members of the Biden administration quietly submitted several changes to a 2005 global health measure between the WHO and the United States.
 
The changes in question are intended to be considered at a forthcoming May 22 meeting of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, Switzerland, where it is hoped that “public health” policies will be discussed. Among the attendees are 129 nations, including the United States. Taiwan, as usual for the WHO, will be the only country who will not attend.

In January, the World Health Organization’s Director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus explained the treaty’s aim: “to rapidly strengthen WHO as the leading and directing power on global health, and the center of our worldwide health architecture.” He added that “we all want a world where science triumphs over misinformation.”

“We are all part of the same world, with one health and one WHO.”

Dan Horowitz discussed the Biden administration’s changes to the international health regulations from 2005, which he said included eliminating a crucial phrase from Article 9: “WHO shall consult with and attempt to get verification from the nation in whose territory the event is happening…”

Another modification states that if a US jurisdiction does not accept an offer of collaboration within 48 hours, the WHO “should immediately transmit with other States Parties any information available to it.”

“The Biden administration wants emergency proclamations to be mandated and  want any dissenting views eliminated,” Horowitz concluded.
