Kevin Michaels I’m honestly confused by your comment. licensed and bonded guarantees a lot. That’s why they have to pay for it. If you are doing the work yourself-that’s one thing, but there’s quite a bit of liability hiring someone who isn’t. But sometimes you can’t afford to pay for it and I completely understand that. And Sometime people can’t afford to get a license too. But you really can’t get upset if your called out for it either. But I’m also not the type of person to call out someone like that on FB- I really hope he knows what he’s doing.

Kevin Michaels tell that to the people who got screwed over by unlicensed “professionals” 😂 these customers have no where to go! No recourse. The contractors license board can’t help them, and there’s no bond or insurance to help. Homeowners insurance usually won’t reimburse for someone who’s unlicensed also. On top of that, I think it’s pretty unfair to all the dudes on this mountain who spend thousands yearly to make sure they are legitimate for themselves and their customers. My husbands a plumber and spends close to 6k a year for bond, insurance and license and then some joker who hasn’t done squat comes along and undercuts him. It’s always fun when he has to clean up customers messes too, from them hiring unlicensed people who screwed the job up! Still think it’s okay?

That would avoid many people new to the community to hire the wrong folks. There are bad workers everywhere but something unique about big bear is that I have noticed some folks claim to know how to do everything with the issue being that they never learned how to do it right since day one.

Debbie Coulter Huston plenty of people have contacted swift and CSLB, because he’s unlicensed. These things take time and they are working on it. In the meantime, people (customers) are getting screwed and the licensed guys are cleaning up his messes. All you have to do is go onto contractors state license board and look up his name. It doesn’t come up. He’s not licensed.

Money isn't being reported to IRS also.....Can't hire people under the table that are collecting benefits from the government aswell. How is that fair to the legit business up here trying to make a living & paying taxes & not hiring people under the table for 15$ a hour

Jan Harris , with all due respect, the only thing that sounds fishy is someone contracting without being able to provide a license number. You and my husband spoke about this a month ago. Plenty of people know about him operating without a license. What’s worse….. he’s screwing up jobs and people are paying him thousands. It’s not okay to take advantage of people. Take a look at some of the comments on this post about him. He should get his license and work legitimately and legally.

Sherry Catlett and most work is over 500.00 unless it's simple handyman work or housekeeping. I did a complete remodel and that took a lot more money than 500.00. I even had walls replaced. New subfloor. New flooring, new bathroom, new kitchen. Now I am doing front porch and very large back deck with pergola. It took me weeks to just find a plumber that I would consider hiring. I will never remodel up here again that's for sure. I am giving the house to my son as a gift and he will probably just sell it. I intended to keep it when I started the remodel and we never rent the house out. It has been a very long and difficult expierence.

Victoria Grace totally get that. We just bought and just need minor fixit…deck rails tightened, dirt cleared from posts, no major construction. Still looking for a painter, have one, it would like another estimate. That I will use a licensed contractor.

It’s amazing that someone calling someone out automatically gets called fake. This isn’t the first time I’ve heard this about this business. If they have a license, show us the numbers, it’s not difficult. And in fact, when you advertise you’re legally required to post your license number.

It’s really really simple. If you don’t have a license you are allowed to work for a single customer for up to 500$. Not on multiple properties for the customer up to 500$. Saying you took a test and can’t put up a number means you’re still UNLICENSED!!!!! Advertising without your license number or stating you’re unlicensed is illegal and you will be fined. If you ask for a license number and they can’t produce one that is theirs then hold them to the 500$ limit (that includes the part costs)

I finally had Moffett Plumbing put the sink, toilet and tub in. Patrick, the owner did a good job along with his son Adam. No problem and no worries. They also fixed the pipe under the house...my son left the water on 2 winters ago and we all know what that does...cost me a small fortune. I'm almost done with it now and thankful. What a nightmare.

John Drew VanDewerker you can legitimately search for a business license under a person’s name or business name, although it’s typically associated with a personal name. We have five people in our family who come up in a search on the state’s website as well as the family business name. The state of CA does prosecute for those pretending to have a business license. The IRS will also pursue someone for doing this without a business license and a tax ID. Even a handyman needs to have a handyman license. I’ve been wondering for some time how someone can hustle for so much business in all sorts of different aspects (plumbing, electrical, building, etc) and not have a license. Not only does it present an issue for homeowners, it also means someone operating without a license also has no recourse if, say, a client decides not to pay. Why pay? Try to sue me; you don’t even have a license. Take me to court — they’ll arrest you on the spot for fabricating a license and/or doing work without a business license. The person in question here does not have a license for anything, according to the state. Not under his name, not under his business name.

Kelly Nisley he (Jesse O) had his girls doing house cleaning for me- and they NEVER mopped the floors among many other things… leaving wet sheets out, oven not cleaned…I have a laundry list. They did the worst job of any house cleaner I have ever hired- and charged me the most!

Kelly Nisley the issue is there’s multiple complaints and because he’s unlicensed and uninsured owners have no recourse. On top of that, he operates under the guise that he’s a licensed contractor, which is false and totally illegal, btw. It’s up to owners to decide who they hire but they should have all the info, and when someone is blatantly lying it becomes a problem. Someone thinks they’re hiring a licensed individual, when in fact far from it. That’s just shoddy, deceptive business practice. Completely unethical and also downright illegal.
