DATE/TIME: February 4, 2021/6:15 p.m.

INCIDENT: Residential Fire Results in Fatality

LOCATION: 40000 block of Mahanoy Ln., Big Bear Lake

VICTIM: Name withheld pending notification

SUMMARY:

On Thursday, February 4, 2021 at approximately 6:15 p.m., deputies from the Big Bear Sheriff's Station responded to a 9-1-1 call of a woman screaming at a residence in the 40000 block of Mahanoy Lane in Big Bear Lake. Upon arrival, deputies found the house on fire. The reporting party was able to escape the residence through a second story window and advised deputies there was another person inside the house.

Deputies kicked the door open and used fire extinguishers in an attempt to make entry into the house but were unable to gain access due to smoke and heat. Big Bear Fire Department arrived on scene and located human remains inside the residence before putting the fire out.

The Bomb & Arson Division of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department was called to the scene to aid local fire investigators. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The identity of the decedent is being withheld pending official notification from the Coroner's Office to next of kin.

I asked this question in a busy thread yesterday and I think you may have missed it and it's important...So I thought I should repost it again.

Many in our community are concerned about the LARGE amounts of money that has gone into Advertising via Visit Big Bear and Big Bear. Com...I thought perhaps you could shed some light on the subject based on your personal hands on experience. I believe you use to work for Visit Big Bear in a Directors position for Marketing and Advertising? Or do you still?

Maybe you can shed some light on WHY even through a pandemic and state ordered lockdowns and mandates,(that were blatantly ignored by our Mayor and Powers that be), did Visit Big Bear continue pouring lots and lots of money into advertising trying to lure tourists up here? (and continue to do so).

Perhaps you can shed some light on who's currently responsible for that ongoing advertising? Many of us full time residents are concerned as to why so much money is being poured into advertising during a Pandemic?

Why are Tourists blantly being lured up here by our City and the ongoing advertising by Visit Big Bear and Big Bear. Com during a Pandemic that is killing people? Why would our city reps continue to allow this to happen while defying state ordered mandates knowing they are purposely putting our community at risk?
