World War II
World War I
TV's legendary military hit "M*A*S*H" first aired in 1972, and many critics would be happy to tell you that it is in many ways "about" the Vietnam War. But while the satire may have commented on the contemporary war, it wasn't set in that conflict — "M*A*S*H" was set in Korea during the Korean War (1950–1953). The show ran for an incredible 11 seasons, and by the end of its run, the stars were looking improbably aged — after all, the real-life Korean War lasted just a few years, and "M*A*S*H" was on the air about three times longer. The show said goodbye with an ambitious two-hour finale, which remains one of the most-watched broadcasts in television history, second only to Johnny Carson's Farewell Broadcast.
