Food Inflation Predicted to Continue Surge Not Seen since 1980

The Democratic Party and the Biden administration may have a very difficult time taking voters’ minds off of the condition of the American economy as this year’s midterm elections approach. The “May Food Price Outlook” just published by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is a strong indication that food prices are going to be front and center in the minds of average working voters.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is the most familiar metric discussed by the media when covering inflation. While the annual rate of CPI in April was 8.3%, that number does not convey the full impact felt by most consumers on core items. The USDA reported that food prices for the same period were up by 9.4%.

The prices for food purchased for consumption at home is increasing at a faster rate than that purchased for restaurant consumption. Prices for food at grocery stores shot up by 10.8% annually in April.

The USDA is now forecasting that the price of food will continue increasing significantly throughout the summer.

The combination of many factors, including Joe Biden’s policies of throttling domestic energy production and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, has led to an energy supply crisis causing skyrocketing transportation and agricultural costs. International fertilizer costs are also rising rapidly as supply chains and production are being impacted by instability in Eastern Europe.

Essentially every input cost involved in producing and transporting food to retail shelves is increasing rapidly.

Domestic food production is also being impacted by natural conditions that are exacerbated by Biden administration policies. In the egg and poultry industry, a highly transmissible avian flu has affected around 38 million chickens. The price of eggs was up 10.3% in April, and the USDA now predicts a further increase of up to 20.5% this year.

Foods in the USDA’s “meats” category are all rising sharply. Meats were up 11.9% annually in April and are predicted to continue increasing.

Even as the USDA says its May projections are subject to upward revisions, they already show the largest increases in food prices since 1980. That year, food inflation came in at 8.59%. The average annual food price inflation since then has been 2.95%. America is likely to see monthly increases in some food categories at that rate this year.

A new poll from the Trafalgar Group shows that among likely voters in this year’s elections, 60% believe federal spending and Biden policies are the primary reasons behind America’s surging inflation. Among Republican voters the number is 88%, and 61% of independents agreed.

Americans will directly face the food crisis hitting the nation every day between now and the elections in November, and the majority of them who know who is to blame is only going to increase.

Armed students on Campus!!!

Eton college during the war

Hitler was planning for a long time to occupy Great Britain, but since it was an island, many things had to happen in order to start the attack. Main problems were Britain’s anti-aircraft defense and naval fleet, so it took a while. But, Britain did not just sit and wait, they were preparing for the attack, too. Even the prestigious college like Eton did regular military drills, as can be seen in this photo. British being British, they were perfect gentlemen even when carrying rifles.

Phone booth stuffing

It all started in South Africa, where students in Durban fitted 25 people in a phone booth in order to get into the Guinness Book of World Records. The craze soon traversed to England, where it was called ‘telephone booth squash’, but they managed to fit only 19 students. And then it spread to US and Canada and even got so popular that they had to invent the rules, since some cheated. Just as fast as it took off, it quickly disappeared, with South African record intact.

Rep. Carter Reveals that $350M of Border Wall Materials Are Rusting Away

Speaking on Newsmax’s “Wake Up America” on Thursday, Rep. Buddy Carter (R-GA) said it was “very discouraging” to see construction materials rotting away at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Over $350 million worth of steel and other materials paid for with taxpayer dollars is currently rotting away near the southern border as a result of President Joe Biden’s decision to shut down construction of the border wall.

“We approved, through Congress, 110 miles of border wall to be constructed, went ahead and bought the materials, and have it sitting there. You see $350 million worth of materials of hard-earned taxpayers’ money right there just rusting and deteriorating,” Carter said, sharing images of the materials from his trip to the border this week.

According to the Georgia Republican, the waste was caused by the Biden administration’s decision to cancel the border wall soon after Biden took office, and now “what we have is all these contracts that are costing us $6 million every day to cancel [to] pay off these contracts that were already in place.”

Carter asserted that there is no question that Biden chose to cease the construction of the border wall because he and his administration wanted to reject what former President Donald Trump had accomplished. He noted that the White House, along with not wanting the border wall, also rejected Trump’s “remain in Mexico” policy despite the Supreme Court endorsing it.

“[They] want to do away with Title 42,” Carter said, referring to the health policy which barred people with communicable diseases from entering the country. “Let me tell you, the Border Patrol agents are very, very concerned about eliminating and canceling Title 42. They told us that people, that groups, are congregating just south of the border, waiting for Title 42 to be canceled so they can come across.”

“They estimate now that we’ve got 8 to 10,000 people crossing that border every day and that that number will go up to 18,000 or 20,000 if Title 42 is canceled,” he added.

Carter went on to speak out about the Biden administration’s decision to send a stockpile of baby formula to the border, despite a nationwide shortage for American families.

“You can’t find it on your grocery shelves but if you come down here, you can find it on the shelves at the processing facility, for people who are breaking the laws, breaking our laws, and coming into this country illegally,” he said.

The border crisis also continues to lead to a rise in the massive amounts of drugs, particularly fentanyl, coming into the United States, according to Carter.

“Those drugs are going to our communities,” he said. “Don’t think it’s just a border problem. Those drugs are infesting communities in Georgia and New York and Illinois, all across our nation, and they’re having an impact on our communities.”

Thanks to these problems, overdoses are higher than ever and crime is continuing to rise, Carter added.

Face it: America is doomed.

'We're not going back!': Uvalde superintendent says students will never return to Robb Elementary School; school board declines to punish police chief

June 04, 2022

The Uvalde school board held a special meeting on Friday where the decision was made for students and staff to never return to the Robb Elementary School. The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District board also took no action against the police chief who failed to confront the school shooter.

"We're not going back to that campus," said Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District Superintendent Hal Harrell at the meeting after a tearful parent said her second-grade daughter was traumatized and "deathly afraid" of going back to the school.

"We have plans for it to become something other than a school site," Harrell added.

During the special meeting of the board of trustees, Harrell said he expects to have a new location for the school in the "very near future."

Also at the meeting, the board decided to not take any disciplinary action against the school district's police chief.

Uvalde school district police chief Pete Arredondo failed to confront the shooter in the barricaded classroom.

Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steven McCraw declared that as many as 19 police officers had gathered outside the classroom with the gunman, but did not engage the shooter until approximately 75 minutes after the lethal attack began.

McCraw criticized Arredondo's decision to not engage the shooter, "From the benefit of hindsight, where I’m sitting now, of course it was not the right decision. It was the wrong decision, period.”

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said the decision not to engage the gunman sooner "may have" cost lives.

Arredondo said he didn't send his officers into the classroom because he believed the situation no longer involved an "active shooter."

However, multiple calls to 911 were made within the school – some were from students inside the classroom with the mass killer. Minutes before the shooter was killed, a girl in the school pleaded to a 911 dispatcher, "Please send the police now."

Two law enforcement sources informed the American-Statesman that Arredondo arrived at the shooting without his police radio and other critical equipment that may have impaired the police response to the rampage.

The gunman was finally shot and killed by Federal Border Patrol officers – who defied local law enforcement's order to stand down after waiting for 30 minutes, according to NBC News.

The 18-year-old killer murdered 19 students and two teachers.

The Texas Tribune noted that Arredondo failed to practice recommended active shooter tactics:

In modern active shooter tactics, police are trained to immediately take down gunmen instead of waiting for backup or additional resources in order to save as many lives as possible. Instead, law enforcement at the scene of the Uvalde shooting requested “specialty equipment” and body armor and organized a tactical team to reenter the school, taking over an hour to take out the gunman despite having arrived at the scene within minutes after the shooter entered the school.
"According to the meeting agenda, Arredondo could have been suspended or terminated," the Epoch Times reported.

During the meeting, Harrell was asked about the investigations into the failure of stopping the gunman in a timely manner – one by Uvalde County’s district attorney and one by the federal Department of Justice.

"I know that people ask about the investigation. I know that investigation’s ongoing. I know the DOJ is reviewing that investigation," Harrell said. "I want answers just like everybody but I don't have answers. They've not given me answers. So I don’t have anything to provide you in that realm. I don't. I wish I did have answers."

Arredondo did not attend the school board meeting, and has kept a low profile since the mass shooting on May 24.

Uvalde police chief faces scrutiny as 'man in hiding' following reports he had officers wait an hour before confronting shooter at Robb Elementary School

Pete Arredondo — the police chief who made the call to have officers wait more than an hour before engaging with the shooter at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas — has police stationed outside his home and has largely disappeared from the public eye, The Texas Tribune reported.

Arredondo, chief of the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District Police Department, has been described as a "man in hiding" since the incident, according to the Tribune. His disappearance comes following reports that police did not immediately confront the 18-year-old gunman during the attack that left 19 children and two adults dead.

Arredondo reportedly thought the gunman was barricaded inside a classroom alone, and told officers outside the school not to engage. One police officer said there was "almost a mutiny" outside the school as officers were told not to enter.

Parents have said that police did not respond when they urged them to enter the school and some said they tried to push through law enforcement to rescue their kids. Steven McCraw, director of the Texas Department of Public Safety Director, has since called the delay the "wrong decision."

In the days that followed, the department has faced sharp scrutiny for its response, as lawmakers and community members rally together in search of answers and accountability for the tragedy.

The Tribune reported that Arredondo told a television crew that staked out his office that he wouldn't explain his actions until after the funerals for the victims.

City officials have also reportedly helped keep Arrendondo hidden from the public, and swore him into his new role on the City Council in secret. The Tribune added that state police complained that Arredondo has not cooperated with a Texas Department of Public Safety investigation into the shooting, an accusation he denied.

Residents told the Tribune that accountability starts with firing Arredondo and overhauling his department.

"They were cowards," Salvador Hurtado said. "There was one man with a gun, and they waited and waited. … I read the signs on the police cars that say 'protect and serve.' Where was the protection?"

Uvalde school district police chief declines to answer CNN questions in first public comments in a week

Uvalde school police chief pushes back on allegations he's been uncooperative

Wed June 1, 2022

(CNN)Pedro "Pete" Arredondo, the embattled Uvalde school police chief who led the flawed law enforcement response to last week's school shooting and has remained out of the public eye since, spoke exclusively to CNN on Wednesday and declined to answer substantive questions about the massacre.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Arredondo has not responded to a request for a follow-up interview with the Texas Rangers, who are investigating the shooting at Robb Elementary.

Yet outside his home Wednesday, Arredondo told CNN's Aaron Cooper, "I am in contact with DPS everyday."

And outside his office minutes later, he told CNN's Shimon Prokupecz that he's not going to release any further information while funerals are ongoing.

"We're going to be respectful to the family," he said. "We're going to do that eventually. Whenever this is done and the families quit grieving, then we'll do that obviously."

It's the first time Arredondo has commented since two brief press statements on the day of the attack, in which he said the gunman was dead but provided little information on the shooting, citing the ongoing investigation. He took no questions at the time and has not appeared in a public forum since.

Nineteen children and two teachers were killed in the attack last Tuesday, and officials have so far failed to answer major questions about why police took about 80 minutes to breach two locked classroom doors and confront the gunman.

The school police chief was identified last week by DPS as the commanding officer who decided not to force their way into the rooms and instead to stand back and wait for reinforcements -- even as children inside repeatedly called 911 and begged police for help.

A Customs and Border Protection tactical team ultimately entered the rooms using a janitor's keys and fatally shot the suspect, DPS said.

DPS Director Steven McCraw did not identify Arredondo by name, but he said the chief made the "wrong decision" not to engage with the gunman sooner. He said the commanding officer decided to treat the situation like a barricaded suspect rather than an active shooter.

Established law enforcement policy, created in the wake of the Columbine school shooting of 1999, calls for police to stop the gunman as fast as possible in an active shooter situation.

Arredondo has worked in law enforcement for nearly 30 years and became chief of police of the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) Police Department in March 2020.

In that role, he completed a school-based law enforcement active shooter training course in December 2021, according to his professional training file obtained by CNN. He also completed a school-based law enforcement active shooter training course with the Johnson County Sheriff's Office in August 2020.

Further, he completed an Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) program Terrorism Response Tactics course in June 2019, according to the document. The ALERRT program is designed to teach officers techniques to save lives after an active shooting, such as how to apply tourniquets, according to the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center.

Arredondo sworn in to city council in secret ceremony
Arredondo was elected to the Uvalde city council earlier this month, and a special city council meeting to swear him and others in had been set to take place Tuesday.
However, Mayor Don McLaughlin said in a statement Monday that the meeting "will not take place as scheduled," adding "our focus on Tuesday is on our families who lost loved ones."

Instead, Arredondo was sworn in privately without advance notice to the media. Although there was no formal ceremony, McLaughlin said that members of the council came to City Hall "at their convenience" during the day to be sworn in, adding that Arredondo appeared in person to receive the oath and sign paperwork.

"Out of respect for the families who buried their children today, and who are planning to bury their children in the next few days, no ceremony was held," McLaughlin said in a written statement.

In his Monday statement, the mayor said Arredondo was "duly elected" and that there is "nothing in the City Charter, Election Code, or Texas Constitution that prohibits him from taking the oath of office. To our knowledge, we are currently not aware of any investigation of Mr. Arredondo."

In his short comments Wednesday, Arredondo said the swearing-in was "a private thing" out of respect for the families, saying the families are the focus right now.

KTLA News: "Arrests at Nazi meeting in El Monte" (1972)

Henry Muniz
Yeah. Believe it. That "Nazi House" was a few houses down from us. I was 8 when that happened. Growing up brown with Nazis as next door neighbors was a little scary. Even though we kids didn't exactly know what they were about, we knew they were bad news. And yes, there really were a lot of white people running around that part of El Monte. Half my family is white. I am Mexican and Norwegian. My white fam didn't like the "Nazi House" either. I Went to Mulhall Elementary,  Frank Wright (Lambert Park) and Arroyo High School.

:tello: "Ditto."

Silent footage of a group of men in Nazi uniforms gathered in front of a building painted with large swastikas. A uniformed man appears to be yelling to people outside from an upstairs window in the building. Police form a line on the road against a crowd of people in street clothes. Footage includes shots of people in this crowd being arrested, handcuffed and put into police cars.

Note:  The KTLA newsfilm collection at UCLA consists of cut and unedited stories, outtakes and fill footage, originally shot on 16mm reversal film stock with magnetic soundtrack. Some footage, particularly material not used for broadcast, may be without sound.

Hollywood Actor Kevin Sorbo: I’m Not Taking Gun Safety Tips From A White House That Armed the Taliban

JUNE 1, 2022

Conservative Hollywood actor Kevin Sorbo suggested he’d pass on gun lectures from the administration that less than a year ago helped ‘arm’ the Taliban.

The “Hercules” and “Let There Be Light” star suggested the Biden White House could save their breath on gun safety speeches or sermons.

“I don’t need the administration that armed the Taliban lecturing me on gun safety,” he tweeted Tuesday.

Sorbo’s comment is a reference to the nearly billions of dollars in military equipment and training costs provided to security forces in Afghanistan since 2001, much of which was reportedly left behind after Biden’s disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal.

White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan admitted that “certainly a fair amount of it has fallen into the hands of the Taliban.”

The actual number though has been disputed in part because the figure includes the cost of training and housing Afghan police over a 20-year presence in the country.

Kevin Sorbo Fires Back at Gun-Control Democrats

Sorbo’s ‘gun safety’ comments come following a deadly school shooting in Uvalde, Texas that claimed the lives of 21 people – including 19 elementary-aged children.

It also comes just weeks after Democrats, who were apoplectic about their ‘right’ to abort babies, suddenly have decided pro-gun Republicans must not care about children if they defend their constitutional rights.

Sorbo offered up further commentary about the gun debate following the Uvalde tragedy.

“Last week the left said ‘If you ban abortions people will just get them illegally,'” he tweeted. “Now they want to ban guns? Won’t people just get them illegally then? How dare you politicize a tragedy to push your idiotic agenda.”

In another, he urged Americans not to “let people who surround themselves with armed security tell you that YOU can’t own a firearm to defend yourself.”

Gun Misinformation
Not only is the administration that helped ‘arm’ the Taliban now lecturing on alleged gun violence, they’re spreading loads of misinformation on the topic.

President Biden has consistently promoted the false claim that the Second Amendment never allowed for cannon ownership.

In addition to the cannon screed, the President offered up other incredible statements like suggesting that a 9mm handgun is a “high-caliber weapon” in which a bullet “blows the lung out of the body.”

Neither, according to experts, is true.

Biden has also suggested high-powered firearms are not necessary for the common folk because ‘deer don’t have Kevlar vests.’

You may recall that Biden served as Vice President under Barack Obama and that administration also brought you Fast and Furious.

That scandal involved running guns to Mexico which were then lost and used by drug cartels.

One was used in the shooting death of border patrol agent Brian Terry, while others turned up at the scenes of violent crimes in Phoenix, as well as at least 11 other violent crimes across the country.

So yea, I’m with Sorbs on this one. Biden can save his little gun lectures for people who don’t know about his past in helping arm terrorist organizations and drug cartels.

Law Professor Slams President Biden For Repeating Lie That Second Amendment Banned Cannon Ownership

MAY 31, 2022

Constitutional law scholar Jonathan Turley hammered President Biden for continuing to promote the false claim that the Second Amendment never allowed for cannon ownership.

Biden made the comments speaking to reporters on the South Lawn of the White House Monday.

“The Constitution, the Second Amendment was never absolute,” he asserted. “You couldn’t buy a cannon when the Second Amendment was passed.”

It is a claim Biden repeats quite often and one which his aides seemingly haven’t bothered to inform him is completely false.

Biden Repeats Second Amendment Cannon Lie
Turley blasted Biden for using an obvious falsehood to debate gun control – something that should be dealt with “on a factual rather than purely rhetorical way.”

“It’s got to start with the president. Today he repeated a clearly false statement about the Second Amendment,” Turley said in a weekend appearance on Fox News Live.

“Many of us have repeatedly said that his statement that you could not own a cannon or other weapons when the Second Amendment was ratified is untrue,” he added.

“Yet the president keeps on repeating that as a defense for his call for gun control. He’s undermining his own case by repeating what is ironically disinformation.”

Biden Spreading Misinformation
Turley has called out President Biden for his Second Amendment cannon misinformation in the past.

“What is weird is that he keeps raising a point that undermines his position because this was not the view in the early Republic,” he said in a tweet last month following Biden’s claim at that time.

Biden said something similar in a gun control speech last June.

“The Second Amendment, from the day it was passed, limited the type of people who could own a gun and what type of weapon you could own,” he claimed. “You couldn’t buy a cannon.”

The Washington Post at the time debunked the claim, noting he had made similar comments during his 2020 campaign. Though, they said Biden was ‘tripped up’ by a “parenthetical aside.”

It can no longer be chalked up to an aside.

In addition to the cannon screed, the President offered up another odd statement suggesting that a 9mm handgun is a “high-caliber weapon” in which a bullet “blows the lung out of the body.”

Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson slammed President Biden for his partisan motivations following the Uvalde school shooting calling him “frail, confused” and “unfit for leadership of this country.”

5-year-old Italian piano prodigy plays astonishing Mozart for competition audience

25 May 2022

Alberto Cartuccia Cingolani, aged 5, is an Italian piano prodigy

The young pianist impressed the competition judges with instinctive talent, well beyond his years...

Alberto Cartuccia Cingolani, a five-year-old Italian pianist, has gone viral for his prodigious performance of Mozart at a music competition in Italy, earlier this month.

Having only started learning the instrument in 2020, the five-year-old is already a multi-award winning musician. Cingolani has taken part in seven competitions so far in his early, but unquestionably promising, career, and placed first in each of them.

Two weeks ago, Cingolani entered his eighth competition; the 10th International Musical Competition in the Italian town of Penne.

The young star opened the competition with a captivating performance of the first movement of Mozart’s Piano Sonata No. 16 in C major impressing the in-person audience, and online viewers alike. Watch his mesmerising musical delivery below.

Like Mozart, Cingolani is from a musical family; both of his parents are music conservatoire graduates, but his mother has been quick to clear up any rumours about pushing their son into classical music.

Alessia Cingolani told the regional Italian newspaper, Corriere Adriatico, that, “He started playing during the months of the first lockdown. I was always at home, so we started playing with a small keyboard, in order to do something stimulating. From there I realised that Alberto was well suited. [Doing this, my] husband and I noticed that he had perfect pitch.

“For a year and a half now, [Alberto] has been doing remarkable things, both for his age and for the time it took him to learn.

“Even though he still doesn't know how to read [music] notes well, indeed almost not at all, he takes his position on the keyboard and repeats the pieces. He is very instinctive.” [translated from Italian]

The video of Cingolani’s competition performance has been viewed by millions of people across Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.
https://twitter.com/GoodNewsCorres1/status/1528369448532459522?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1528369448532459522%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.classicfm.com%2Fmusic-news%2Fvideos%2Fitalian-piano-prodigy-child%2F

But the five-year-old isn’t a stranger to being on the end of a phone camera. His father, Simone Cartuccia, often records pieces played by his son, and uploads them to his YouTube channel.

As the young musician performs, it’s clear he is engrossed in the music, and with this along with his technical pianistic skills, we’re sure he’s bound to go far in his musical journey.

Overdose rates up 700% in Oregon after the state decriminalized the possession of hard drugs

June 04, 2022

Overdose rates in the state of Oregon rose by 700% after voters in the state approved a ballot measure to decriminalize all hard drugs.

Voters in the state of Oregon voted to decriminalize all hard drugs in the pursuit of encouraging those struggling with drug addiction to seek medical help. The measure, referred to as Ballot Measure 110, was the first of its kind in the U.S. and went into effect in February of 2021 after being approved by the public the year before.

Ballot Measure 110 made it so that it was no longer a felony or misdemeanor of any kind to possess drugs in the state of Oregon. At most, people carrying hard drugs are subject to a maximum fine of $100 which can be waived if the person receiving the citation calls a public hotline and receives a free health assessment.

If a person is found to be carrying a “personal amount” of drugs like heroin, cocaine, or methamphetamine at most, they will receive a $100 fine.

Of the $300 million that was meant to be allocated to public health resources to fight addiction, only $40 million has been dispersed.

The Daily Mail reported that Ballot Measure 110 has largely had an inverse effect and has led not to more people seeking treatment but to more drug-related deaths and the proliferation of hard drug use throughout Oregonian communities.

Republican state official Lily Morgan said, “We have overdoses increasing at drastic rates.”

Morgan said, “In my community, [there has been] a 700% increase in overdoses and a 120% increase in deaths.”

Shemia Fagan, the Oregonian Secretary of State, said that Oregon residents approved Ballot Measure 110 to “improve the lives of people, to improve our communities.”

Fagan said, “When the voters of Oregon passed Measure 110, we did so because it was a change of policy in Oregon to improve the lives of people, to improve our communities, and in the years since, we haven’t seen that play out.”

She concluded, “Instead, in many communities in Oregon, we’ve seen the problem with drug addiction get worse.”

Steve Allen, Oregon’s behavioral health director, acknowledged that there has been a “dramatic” increase in overdoses and overdose deaths, but he attributed much of these to an influx of methamphetamine laced with fentanyl.

Allen indicated a belief that if public health resources received enough funding and support, then overdose deaths would decrease as the state’s drug problem begins to improve.

He said, “Getting these resources out to the community is incredibly important — not just the harm reduction resources, but people who can support folks who are at risk for overdose.”

Biden Now Wants To Control Your Home Appliances

May 13, 2022

Experts believe that the Democrats’ climate plans are increasingly being pushed through the federal bureaucracy due to Congress lacking of support for environmental changes.

During its first 15 months in office, the Biden administration has issued sweeping rules affecting home appliances, construction standards, fuel efficiency, and government-backed projects including infrastructure. The numerous federal regulations have been condemned by experts as likely to cause bigger costs, harm customers amid rising prices, and mostly serve as a backdoor for far more stringent environmental controls.

“They’re essentially using environmental regulations to provide backdoor subsidies,” stated Brent Bennett, an energy policy expert at the Texas Public Policy Foundation, in an interview with the Daily Caller News Foundation.

“The problem is that our current laws are so broadly defined that this is possible,” he continued. “It enables this type of abuse. So the real issue is that Congress did not produce strong legislation, and those laws are now being misused.”

On his first day in office, President Biden issued an executive order to the Department of Energy (DOE) to submit “significant changes” to appliance energy efficiency standards. Within days of the executive order, the DOE unveiled a list of deregulatory measures taken by the Trump administration that it would evaluate, including those involving appliances such as water heaters, washers and drysers and cooking products.

The Biden White House has also called for far more stringent rules under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969. Federal agencies would be required to evaluate the “direct,” “indirect,” and “cumulative” climate consequences of any proposed action or project that requires federal permitting approval.

While the White House claimed that the rules would improve environmental protection, experts and industry organizations warned against them creating undue hurdles for important energy and infrastructure projects.

“I don’t care if you are building a new school, a high-rise building, or trying to install low-cost housing; let alone a road or to replace bridges. You’ll have to go through the NEPA procedure and, under this new rule, the project will take years — if it’s ever even permitted — and most of them won’t be.”

Facebook Exec Makes A Surprising Move

JUNE 2, 2022

In yet more surprising news from Facebook, the second-most powerful executive of the company, Sheryl Sandberg, is apparently resigning from the company.

Sandberg, who worked at Facebook for fourteen years, is well-known for the role she played in securing the scandal-plagued social media’s company dominance in the advertising sphere.

Sandberg made the stunning announcement on her personal Facebook page, stating that she would be stepping down from her Chief Operating Officer (COO) while retaining a position on the company’s board.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg promptly chimed in after Sandberg made her announcement, remarking that Sandberg “has taught [him] so much and she has been there for many of the important moments in [his] life, both personally and professionally.”

The departure of Sandberg emerges after the social media network rebranded itself as “Meta,” as it attempts to transform the Internet into a virtual reality designed to enmesh people even more deeply in Meta’s services at the expense of their connection to the outside world.

Facebook’s reputation has been deeply embattled in recent years, as varied reports have emerged and revealed the social media giant’s damage on impressionable youth.

In addition, other platforms, notably Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Snapchat are competing closely with Facebook in order to broaden their own target market base, with the flagship Facebook website being perceived as one primarily used by “older people.”

“I [do not] plan to replace Sheryl’s role in our existing structure,” Zuckerberg boomed, “[I am] not sure that would [even] be possible since she’s a superstar who defined the COO role in her own unique way.”

The company’s stock, which has been in turmoil ever since its most recent terrible earnings report, slid an additional 2 percent upon the news of Sandberg’s departure. In recent earnings, Zuckerberg admitted that Chinese-owned TikTok has steadily eaten away at the social media company’s core consumer base.

‘American people aren’t stupid’: Matt Schlapp says Biden failures prove he’s ‘simply not up to the job’

June 4, 2022

The wheels are completely coming off of the Democratic Party clown car as it spins out of control headed for the brick wall of the November midterm elections and to top it off, things are even worse inside a White House that has descended into dysfunction and disarray as it becomes more apparent to voters that the Biden administration is an abject catastrophe.

With the nation battered by record gas prices with no ceiling in sight along with the worst inflation in four decades, food and baby formula shortages, and a regime that burns through money faster than the proverbial drunken sailor on a foreign conflict where no American interests are at stake, things are looking increasingly bleak for a Democratic Party that is determined to tear down the nation and its institutions and which could be only five months away from the mother of all electoral bloodbaths.

American Conservative Union chairman Matt Schlapp joined Fox News hosts Pete Hegseth and Joe Concha on a special Friday edition of “Hannity” where they broke down the chaos consuming the Biden regime and the ramifications for the Democratic Party which, at least in its current incarnation, could be headed for the ash heap of history.

The trio discussed a pair of reports this week, one from NBC News that Biden has grown frustrated with staffers who have constantly been forced to clean up his verbal and mental misfires during a “rolling series of calamities” – most of them of his own making – that could lead to a shakeup with chief of staff Ron Klain’s name mentioned. And another report from CNN reveals trouble with White House aides, an astounding 70 of whom run Biden’s social media accounts.

According to CNN, “…beneath this struggle to break through is a deeper dysfunction calcified among aides who largely started working together only through Zoom screens and still struggle to get in rhythm. They’re still finding it hard to grasp how much their political standing has changed over the last year, and there’s a divide between most of the White House staff and the inner circle who have been around Biden for longer than most of the rest of that staff has been alive.”

After the three joked about Team Biden’s disarray, Schlapp broke it down in real terms.

“You have a candidate or a president who’s simply not up to the job, he doesn’t even have the physical vitality to do the job,” he said of the White House dysfunction. “They don’t tell him things that are happening because my guess is he’s not in that office all day long and so they have to kind of pick their moments when he’s ready to hear something and they never jelled as a team because of Zoom and doom and their fear over getting sick with this virus and all that panic.”

“He was elected president without running a real campaign and having a real operation where people bond, I’ve been on those presidential campaigns and you really bond when you’re getting attacked and you see that you can work together as a team,” he said, “they don’t seem to have that, it starts right with Kamala Harris.”

“The other thing I find astounding is how quickly they’ve proved that socialism is a cancer in our country,” he added. “You know, they usually get away with trying to spend more to save problems and blaming Republicans for things like shootings and stuff and they get away with that because of all their allies in the media. The problem is that all of these policies have compounded to this out of control inflation that it seems like there’s nothing they can do because they always want to spend more to solve it and combine that with the fact that our energy prices, which is part of inflation, has everybody panicked about what’s going to happen with their jobs.”

“And let’s bring up one last thing, we’re not even back to the employment rates – something like half of a million jobs shy of where we were before the pandemic,” Schlapp said. “So they can tell us that everything’s great but we’re not even where we were before the pandemic and the American people aren’t stupid.”

“This is a real problem that the Biden administration has is that the reason why they can’t get out of this hole is because there’s no way to get out of the hole,” Schlapp later added. “They can’t use the president, they can’t use the vice president, their policies suck and they’re gonna get killed in the midterms and I think the Democratic Party is going to be seen as a left-leaning party much like Labour was in the UK and it could be a long way back for them which I’m actually pretty happy about.”

‘Your *ss will be looking for a job’: Police group promises reckoning for soft-on-crime politicians

June 4, 2022

A vice president of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) promised politicians who didn’t back policies to keep streets safe “will be looking for a job” on Fox News Friday.

“The American people are very clear what we want,” FOP National Vice President Joe Gamaldi said on “America Reports,” adding, “We want safe streets, we want our neighborhoods to be secure, we want our businesses to thrive, and there’s gonna be a reckoning.”

“I don’t care whether you are a Republican or Democrat and you are ignoring the crime problem and not wanting law and order on the street, you better get your resume ready, your ass will be looking for a job in November,” Gamaldi vowed.

Gamaldi criticized “politicians, academics and activists pushing woke no consequence criminal justice policies” who he said were telling Americans that it would make communities safer. He added that black Americans were “disproportionately affected” by violent crime.

Police officers have also faced increased attacks, with 141 being shot through the end of May, according to a report issued by the FOP Thursday. Of the 141 officers shot, 21 were killed, the report said.

The FOP did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Michael Matteo: Education and woke rationalizations

June 4, 2022

Concerned parents of school children might ask the following question: What in the hell is going on with education in America?

The answer is quite simple.  It has been seized by woke progressives who are determined to allow their political agenda to destroy children’s opportunities for learning and reaching their potential.  The WOKE battle cry is DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion), however, given what these individuals are attempting the acronym might be better DIE because it kills everything it touches.

In this era (or perhaps it would be more appropriate to call it an “error”) of WOKE ideology, rooted in fantasy (we are what we think we are, biology aside), embracing victim status (I can’t succeed because of past injustices to people like me) and the notion of equality of outcomes (If you have more than me, you need to give me what you have, so we can be materially equal) no institution is safe, and this includes the educational system.

Woke educators have become groomers, and this is not only about sexual topics; they are grooming a generation of blamers, victims and whiners. “I failed the test because of systemic racism.”  “Life isn’t fair because you have more than I do, so you need to give me what you have.”  “I’m marginalized, so what are you going to do about it?”

In school systems throughout the country, liberal bureaucrats have pushed for the elimination of merit in favor of diversity. This is evident in college admissions. Ivy League Universities have admitted that their quest for diversity results in them using subjective factors like student personality scores, over objective factors like GPAs or SAT/ACT scores.  Perhaps this is why 1/3 of college students drop out in their 1st year.

Yet, college admissions officers in universities that tout diversity over merit stand firm in their defense of how they admit students. The Supreme Court will hear a case against Harvard which has admitted to discriminating against Asian students to have a more diverse-looking campus. Sherri A. Charleston, Harvard’s first Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer defended the policy by saying, “What we are defending, in our case, is the ability of Harvard College and Harvard University — and really all of higher education — to be able to consider the whole student in its practices.”

In other words, students who have worked hard and demonstrated tangible results to earn their way into Harvard, will not be admitted because they don’t fit the racial mosaic that some social justice warrior in an admissions position believes is “diverse” enough.

This mentality has trickled down into high schools, junior high schools, and elementary schools where the CRT debate rages on.  When they aren’t talking about sexualizing 1st graders, school boards throughout the country have become obsessed with their other favorite topic: race. Race has become a prime factor in just about all educational decisions made by school boards throughout the country. Many have either enacted or are considering enacting race-based grading, which is under the guise of what they term, “transformative education” and transformative educational professional development and grading seminars are coming soon to a teacher training session near you.”

According to Margaret Sullivan who is the associate director at the Education Advisory Board in Chicago, “By training teachers to remove the non-academic factors from their grading practices and recognize when personal biases manifest, districts can proactively signal a clear commitment toward DEIJ (a new letter has been added to their acronym, J for justice).  How many extra points will teachers give to marginalized students on tests and quizzes?  The trans, multi-racial, drag queen kid doesn’t even have to come to class based upon WOKE grading, as he automatically gets a pass due to his victim status. One of the main purposes of education is to give students skills, so they can be productive employees. Will owners of companies look at “non-work” performance factors when they hire an employee who can’t do a job?

As we look at race-based grading, elimination of honors programs, and this notion of equity of educational outcomes, the big picture is that students are being “educated” to live in a fantasy world where their race matters more than their competence. Equity of outcomes is not practical because every person is born into different economic situations and possesses different abilities and resources. To deny someone an opportunity because they are “too smart” because they need to “share” their good grades, good study habits or achievement with someone else is the antithesis of the kind of freedoms that have made America a global leader. To vilify merit or ignore it, in favor of some grandiose, mutated idea that diversity and equity are noble goals is to deny someone the opportunity to excel and reach their full potential.

Here are a few instances where educational decision-makers have either enacted policies or have considered enacting them to basically pursue a policy of mediocrity in schools around the country:

In New York City, which has the largest school system in the country, a panel appointed in 2019 by then-mayor, Bill de Blasio, proposed to eliminate the city’s gifted and talented schools and programs due to these programs being unfair and students not fluent in English were underrepresented in “the most rigorous academic programs.” This was met with several lawsuits by outraged parents who reacted to the notion that courses for students with superior abilities in particular subjects were more about opportunity than inequality.

In San Diego, a progressive principal named Michelle Irwin took it upon herself to cut many of the school’s honors classes at San Diego’s largest high school and her explanation for it was “equity.” In an e-mail to parents, she said she wanted to remove the stigma from non-honors courses and cited racial disparities in honors course enrollment.

In San Francisco, Lowell High school moved from a merit-based admissions policy to a lottery system.

In Massachusetts, Principal David Fabrizio of Ipswich Middle School canceled his school’s Honors Night because he believe that it would cause students who were not receiving awards to feel self-conscious and disappointed in themselves.

In Seattle in 2019, there was an attempt to infuse a “math ethnic studies” into all K-12 math classes to teach how math has been used to oppress marginalized people and communities of color, and students were asked to “identify how math dictates economic oppression.” I must have been absent that day because I don’t think that learning the multiplication tables or how to calculate change involves any form of economic oppression.

In Montello, Nevada:
Montello Elementary School (Closed 2016)
https://www.publicschoolreview.com/montello-elementary-school-profile

These are just a few examples, and woke educators all over the country use buzz words to disguise their intentions. Words like “deleveling,” and “reboundering” and numerous creative names for boards to institute these policies. Since when did excellence, and achievement become things to avoid and not emulate?

In sports, there is only one Super Bowl champion, one World Series winner and one NBA champion. Should these champions feel bad because they won? Whatever happened to the idea of acceptance of defeat and using it to try harder next time?

Competition is the foundation for progress in a free society. If you can build the better car, create the best product or get the best grades, you will be successful, and society benefits from it. The idea that standards must be lowered to avoid hurt feelings, and brilliance must be sacrificed so everyone can be comfortably mediocre is not the prescription for success, and anyone promoting this agenda should not be making educational decisions.

Bees Are Now Fish in California

"And if I had wheels, I'd be a wagon."
-Craig Tucker, 4th Grade, South Park Elementary School

Thanks to a California appeals court, four species of bumble bees are now legally fish in the state. You really cannot make this stuff up.

The striking assertion by the court comes as protections are sought for bees – formerly known as insects – under the California Endangered Species Act. This measure protects animals falling into specific divisions such as a bird, mammal, fish, or amphibian.

However, as bees traditionally are not considered any of these, the court improvised. Sued by the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation, the bench took a novel approach.

The California appeals court notes that frogs are also defined as fish by the state. Associate Justice Ronald Robie, in writing for the court, says that “fish” is “commonly understood to refer to aquatic species.” You think?

Since the 1970 Endangered Species Act defines which categories of animals are covered – and insects are clearly not listed – the legislature improvised.

In 2015, lawmakers added “invertebrate” to the state’s legal definition of a fish. Not possessing a backbone. Thus, bees.

The current mess began with a 2019 lawsuit brought against the California Fish and Game Commission by major agricultural groups in the state. The litigants claimed the commission erred when it declared four species of bumble bees as “endangered.”

In 2020, a Sacramento County Superior Court Judge ruled in favor of the agricultural groups by defining bees as not being fish. The judge observed that the act targeted animals in marine habitats, not insects.

Activists say that reclassifying bumble bees as an endangered species is “absolutely essential” for their survival. No argument there, and their place in the ecosystem is no doubt essential. But does the end justify the means?

In a society that can no longer define what a “woman” is, it stands to reason that the slippery slope slides even further.

In all seriousness, if California wants to protect bumble bees or anything else, there is a time-honored method for making that happen. It’s called legislation.

Categorizing bees as fish, no matter the noble intentions, undermines the legitimacy of other laws that can and likely will be so obviously twisted beyond recognition to accomplish a goal — worthy or otherwise. The next time the courts reinvent the language, it may not be so amusing.

‘Bravo!’: Lauren Boebert thanks Dems for being responsible for the sale of tens of millions of firearms

June 4, 2022

In a speech that some are calling the best of her career, Representative Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) set the House floor on fire with a damning indictment of “freedom haters” and the Biden administration for their hypocritical push to disarm Americans.

“Madam Speaker, I want to begin this evening by thanking my Democrat colleagues for their outstanding work in encouraging millions of Americans to celebrate their Second Amendment rights by purchasing their first, second, or even one-hundredth firearm,” she began, oozing sarcasm.

And she was just warming up.

“From the left’s riots in cities across America to Biden’s threat to strip away our basic constitutional rights, Democrats are single-handedly responsible for the sale of tens of millions of firearms,” Boebert continued. “Bravo! Well Done. And, I hear that the interest has begun to peak when it comes to the sale of F-15s.”

That quote raised some eyebrows among those who have memory-holed one of President Biden’s more incendiary remarks: “And those who — not many are saying it anymore, but there was a while there where people were saying that, you know, the Tree of Liberty is watered with the blood of patriots, and what we have to do is you have to be able to take on the government when they’re wrong. Well, to do that, you need an F-15, you know? Or you need an Abrams tank.”

The rabble-rousing congresswoman then aimed her sights on President Biden and his scandal-ridden son, Hunter.

“Now, I have some questions for these freedom haters,” she stated. “When are you going to call on the chief executive, the basement dweller, to hold his own son accountable for his gun crimes?”

“Hunter Biden lied on a federal firearms application, which is punishable by up to ten years and a $250,000 fine, of which ten percent will not be going to the Big Guy,” Boebert said. “Rules for me, but not for my crackhead, parmesan-smoking, gun criminal son.”

“What about the disposal of Hunter Biden’s gun in a back alley dumpster and why was the Secret Service involved in locating this firearm?” she asked. “Can you just imagine for half a second if Donald Trump, Jr. was involved in firearms crimes and his dad ordered the Secret Service to cover it up?”

“That’s just the start of this hypocrisy,” she said. “Biden will call widely-purchased firearms ‘weapons of war,’ but then he’ll tell you you need an F-15 or nuke to keep the federal government in check. He will target so-called ‘merchants of death,’ but celebrate the 600 abortion clinics across America.”

“This regime will encourage riots, defund the police, and try to take away Americans’ right to self-defense,” Boebert concluded.

A video of the speech was posted to TikTok and quickly made its way to Twitter, where the virtual applause was thundering.

His arrest being the latest example of how the once-venerable [FBI] seems to have morphed into the Democrats’ own political Gestapo being unleashed against the party’s political adversaries.

Huckabee unloads after Navarro arrest: ‘Democrat mafia,’ the media are the ‘REAL insurrectionists’

June 5, 2022

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee spoke out after the heavy-handed arrest of former Trump adviser Peter Navarro who was put into handcuffs and leg shackles at a Washington D.C.-area airport after he defied a subpoena from Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s sham “insurrection” committee.

Navarro, who was indicted for contempt of Congress, was on his way to Nashville, Tennessee for an appearance on a television show hosted by Huckabee when he was accosted by FBI agents. His arrest being the latest example of how the once-venerable bureau seems to have morphed into the Democrats’ own political Gestapo being unleashed against the party’s political adversaries.

The former trade policy adviser who was one of the biggest hawks on China during his time working for Trump was taken into custody by the state security forces on the day after he vowed to help Republicans impeach Biden. “Who are these people? This is not America,” he said. “I was a distinguished public servant for four years.”

Huckabee took to Twitter to blast the FBI and the “Democrat mafia,” who he called out as “the REAL insurrectionists” in his scathing remarks, following the humiliating treatment of Dr. Navarro.

“The outrageous treatment of Peter Navarro is another example of a federal police agency gone mad. Navarro was actually boarding a plane in DC to come to Nashville to be the primary guest on my show this weekend when he was handcuffed and whisked to a DC jail, put in leg shackles,” he wrote.

“And held until his appearance before a magistrate. He had spoken to the FBI Wednesday and told them if they were going to charge him to call him and he would turn himself in. Navarro literally lives in an apartment NEXT DOOR TO THE FBI!”

“But they had to “make a spectacle” and publicly humiliate a 72 year old man who has faithfully served his country. And the “TRUMPED up” charge (emphasis mine) was because he genuinely believes (as I do!)” Huckabee continued, “that Nancy Pelosi’s sham committee failed to meet its own rules for how it was to be constituted but most importantly involves the very serious Constitutional issue of separation of powers in which a partisan, hate-filled gang of House Democrats are demanding that the Executive Branch give over internal documents, notes and other confidential papers from the White House, which is an issue of grave violation of Executive privilege and should be settled by the Supreme Court,” he wrote.

Gov. Mike Huckabee
@GovMikeHuckabee
This entire episode is another example of the powers of Washington, the Democrat mafia, and the media have colluded to not only destroy a man’s reputation and life, but have been active partners in shredding the Constitution.  These are the REAL insurrectionists!
2:50 AM · Jun 4, 2022·Twitter Web App
Huckabee concluded.

Navarro spoke to reporters about his indictment for the rejection of the committee’s subpoenas, correctly pointing out that the Democrat-controlled government is acting in an authoritarian manner and that Congress has “weaponized” its investigatory powers in an unconstitutional way.

Navarro’s arrest comes before the spectacle of the J6 committee’s nationally televised Soviet-style show trials which will be given the prime time treatment this week for its grand premiere.

‘What Hunter Biden did was wrong’: NY Dem running for Congress slams scandal-ridden first son

June 5, 2022

Democratic congressional candidate Max Rose (D-NY) has said what few in his party will admit: “What Hunter Biden did was wrong.”

The former Staten Island Congressman is running to regain the seat he lost in 2020, and he is clearly not afraid to depart from the narratives most of his Democratic colleagues push.

“There is no doubt in my mind that what Hunter Biden did was wrong, being on the [Ukrainian energy company] Burisma board and engaging in whatever else he dealt with,” Rose told the New York Post.

What’s more, Rose believes The Post got a “raw deal” when its bombshell report on Biden’s “laptop from hell” was buried by mainstream media and censored on social media platforms.

It’s not the sort of thing you expect to hear from a Democrat, but perhaps a bit of honesty is what it will take for the former Rep. to defeat GOP incumbent Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, despite redistricting that has left his New York district decidedly more conservative.

According to Dave Wasserman of Cook Political Report, which offers non-partisan analysis of U.S. elections and campaigns, there is “no longer a viable path” for Rose to win, but the outspoken candidate remains undaunted.

“Dave Wasserman, Nate Silver — all these guys are jokes,” Rose said. “They sit in their pajamas and prognosticate all day on Twitter. If they were really so good at predicting they would be making money in the stock market.”

Predictions aside, if voters in the 11th district are looking for a more rational, moderate candidate, Rose just may be their guy. Even Republicans will find themselves agreeing with some of his positions.

For example, Rose said he won’t be supporting Nancy Pelosi as Democratic leader should he return to D.C.

He’s also not opposed to armed security for “hardening” schools, drilling domestically to combat soaring gas prices, and beefing up monetary support for police and the military.

Having served in the Biden administration as a senior COVID-19 advisor to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, Rose is also willing to critique the performance of the President.

Concerning Biden’s catastrophic withdrawal from Afghanistan, Rose, who served in Afghan, said, “There’s no doubt that the actual execution of the withdrawal was tragic in nature. It was difficult to see.”

While he does credit Biden for his response to COVID and for his handling of the war in Ukraine, inflation and the Afghanistan withdrawal has left a less-than-stellar mark on his opinion of the President’s report card.

“I would give [President Biden] a B-,” he said.

But that’s nothing compared to his feelings for Bill de Blasio.

Make no mistake, Max Rose detests the former mayor, who Rose once referred to as “the worst mayor in the history of New York City.”

De Blasio’s run for a congressional seat in the nearby 10th district does not impress Rose in the least.

“I am ready to give my Bronze Star to whoever beats him,” Rose said, “because that person is truly an American hero.”

Indigenous Proverbs From Around the World

The richness and diversity of the world’s Indigenous cultures are truly amazing. There are at least 370 million Indigenous peoples (about 5% of the world's population) across more than 90 countries, representing — and preserving — more than 4,000 languages and countless cultural treasures.

For many Indigenous groups around the world, the preservation of their original language is a vital part of their traditions and identity. Proverbs play an important role in this, serving as a way to pass down wisdom and a sense of self from one generation to the next. Here is a selection of Indigenous proverbs from all across the globe, from the Great Plains of North America to the mountains of Peru, the African Great Lakes to smee's house in the Australian Outback.

Where there is true hospitality, not many words are needed.
— Arapaho proverb
The Arapaho people are native to the Great Lakes region of the United States, where they lived along the Mississippi River. Around 1680, they were forced out of their ancestral lands and migrated to the Great Plains. They have guns.

It is better to have less thunder in the mouth and more lightning in the hand.
— Apache proverb
The Apache are a group of culturally related tribes native to the Southwestern United States. They played a large role in the history of the Southwest, under leaders such as Cochise, Mangas Coloradas, and Geronimo. They have guns.

Don’t be afraid to cry. It will free your mind of sorrowful thoughts.
— Hopi proverb
The Hopi Tribe resides primarily on a large reservation in northeastern Arizona. It is a sovereign nation, with its own constitution and government. They have guns.

Do not judge your neighbor until you walk two moons in his moccasins.
— Cheyenne
Before the arrival of the Europeans, the Cheyenne lived in what is now Minnesota. They were forced out into North and South Dakota, where they became skillful mounted warriors. Today, there are around 23,000 Cheyenne, living mainly in Montana and Oklahoma. They have guns.

The caribou feeds the wolf, but it is the wolf who keeps the caribou strong.
— Inuit proverb
The Inuit are a group of Indigenous peoples who live in the Arctic and sub-Arctic regions of Greenland, Canada, and the United States (Alaska). They have a strong tradition of fishing and hunting in extremely cold conditions. They have guns.

We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love… and then we return home.
— Aboriginal Australian proverb
The term "Aboriginal Australian" encompasses the various Indigenous peoples of the Australian mainland and surrounding islands. With a total population of about 760,000, they account for around 3.3% of Australia's population. They have spears.

Do not steal, do not lie, do not be lazy.
— Quechua proverb
The Quechua language was spoken by the Incas, with various dialects still spoken in South America today. The proverb above — Ama sua, ama llulla, ama quella — may even have its roots in the Inca Empire. More than 10 million Indigenous Quechua people live in South America, with about half of them in Peru. They have Arts and Crafts skills.

Nobody can say he is settled anywhere forever: It is only the mountains which do not move from their places.
— Maasai proverb
The pastoral Maasai of Kenya and Tanzania are a nomadic people with a total population of about 2 million. They move in groups for much of the year, subsisting almost entirely on the meat, blood, and milk of their cattle herds.  They have horses.

Many hands make work light; many ideas open the way.
— Hmong proverb
The Hmong are an Indigenous people living mainly in Southwest China, Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. The culture and religious beliefs of the Hmong are extremely rich, and they are known for their beautiful embroidery and love songs.  They have talents.

The roots of all things are holding hands. When they cut down a tree in the jungle, a star falls from the sky.
— Lacandón proverb
The Lacandón are a Maya Indigenous group who live in the jungles of the Mexican state of Chiapas. Their cosmology states that the end of people will come about when the environmental balance is broken.  They have troubling concerns.

My language is my awakening, my language is the window to my soul.
— M?ori proverb
The M?ori are the Indigenous Polynesian peoples of mainland New Zealand — or Aotearoa, as they call it. Whakatauk?, or proverbs, are common in formal speeches and everyday M?ori conversation. What do they have, again?

There is a miniature replica of the Washington Monument under a manhole near the actual monument.

Hidden directly in front of the Washington Monument, encased in brick and tucked under a manhole cover, is another Washington Monument — only in miniature. But this 12-foot-tall replica isn’t in the business of paying homage to one of America’s Founding Fathers. Instead, its purpose is much more down-to-earth; specifically, measuring the Earth.

This hidden monolith is actually a geodetic control point, one of some 1.5 million such markers across the country that are used as part of NOAA's National Geodetic Survey (NGS). These points give mapmakers, engineers, surveyors, and project managers a body of fixed and reliable data points across the U.S. to determine location and elevation.

In the early 1800s, America was in the grips of “Egyptomania,” inspired in part by Napoleon’s Egyptian campaign at the turn of the 19th century. That’s part of why designers of the Washington Monument chose ancient Egyptian obelisks as their architectural muse.

Because this particular point was so close to the Washington Monument when the marker was built in the 1880s, its creators decided to borrow the monument’s likeness. Usually, geodetic control points are little more than metal poles encased in concrete, topped off with a bronze disc saying what kind of mark it is (an azimuth mark, bench mark, gravity mark, etc.). Some markers may also commemorate important moments — one marker on the University of Utah’s campus both honors the 2002 Winter Olympic Games and serves as a control point — and Walt Disney World even has its own network of geodetic markers throughout its parks.

Although most people don’t know it’s there, the Washington Monument marker has been used in every NGS survey ever conducted since the early 1900s, and was recently used to re-measure the surrounding area after the 2011 Virginia earthquake. Despite being mostly obsolete in the era of GPS, these markers now help surveyors place GPS-receiver antennas and provide an analog method of checking the accuracy of these systems.

Want a Tyrannical King? The Left’s Court-Packing Plot Ensures It | The Glenn Beck Podcast | Ep 149

For decades, those on the Left weren’t interested in packing the Supreme Court. But that all changed in 2020 when things didn’t go their way for once. Now, with the possible repeal of Roe v. Wade on the horizon, they are getting desperate.

Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) knows a thing or two about the Supreme Court. As a boy, he used to watch the court in session, he clerked for Justice Samuel Alito (who wrote the leaked draft opinion), and his upcoming book, “Saving Nine: The Fight Against the Left’s Audacious Plan to Pack the Supreme Court and Destroy American Liberty,” has a warning for America: Court packing will end in tyrannical KINGS, not presidents.

On this episode of “The Glenn Beck Podcast,” Glenn and Sen. Lee discuss the last time Democrats tried to pack the court as they search for a solution for the current chaos engulfing America.
